Chapter 30: Saving her again

**Vincent**

I didn't bother to sit down, I just watched as she walked over to stand before me.
“Why?" I asked plainly, though I was outright surprised. I expected a lot of reactions from her, but resigning? No.
“Because I want to. I've already submitted my letter to the human resources department and was directed here." She said as she crossed her hand over her chest.
“You can only resign when you've worked for three months, Michelle. It's against the company's rule to resign before that time.” I said.
Her eyes widened at first before a hard look appeared on her face.
“I didn't see that in the employment document I signed when I started working.” She said.
"Maybe you need to check it over again, it's there.”
She clenched her jaw; an angry look crossed her face.
“I have no intention of working here again and I want to resign.”
"That's against the rules like I said," I repeated.
“Well then, f*ck you and your company. I'm out of here already!" She yelled and stormed out of the office.
I was dumbstruck for a moment, I'd never seen her this angry, not even on the day I sent her out of my office for sitting on my chair.
What's this feeling anyway? I felt a kind of tightness in my chest as she left the office, it was a really strange feeling though.
I frowned, trying to put a hand on what could be the reason. I've drank enough water for today so it can't be that I'm thirsty.
The last time I felt something similar to this was when I broke up with Valerie.

‘Go and check up on your little cleaner girlfriend, I think she's in trouble.’ I was working out at home when I received the text message.

Michelle? The person who sent the text message is unsaved on my contact list.
I ignored the text message, thinking it's just a random prank message or something. But then again, getting my contact is hard as most of my business partners don't have it, I prefer they email me.
I wiped the sticky sweat on my face. My entire body was filled with sweat at this point that one would think I poured water on myself.
I hit the gym after rounding up with everything at work earlier this afternoon. I haven't crossed paths with Michelle since she left my office angrily and she didn't come back too.
“Dinner is ready sir." My chef said as I went downstairs after taking my bath.
My phone pinged again, signalling that another message just came in.
I checked to see that it's the same person, the only thing was that a picture was attached to the new message.
‘She looks so beautiful being the only one among these people, right?’
My gym is in my house, it's easier this way as I won't need to be in the midst of sweaty, annoying people.
“I'll have dinner later, lock the door behind you,” I replied Tracy, my chef as I ran out of the phone after the picture loaded.
It's a picture of Michelle in a dark alleyway, I wonder how the picture was even taken. The kind of speed I used in going out of the house was really high.
All I could think of was getting to her before those f*ckers try anything with her. The alleyway is really familiar, one of the most tragic events in my life happened there.
It's never a place where good things happen to people.
It didn't even cross my mind either or not that it was a fake message.
While driving, I tried dialing her number and it rang for a while before I was directed to voicemail.
“This mustn't repeat itself, never again.” I mumbled to myself, adding speed and effectively breaking the speed limit.
I took a sharp turn as I left the highway and geared towards the alleyway. My headlights was the only thing that served as a source of light here with how dark it was.

I slowed down a bit when I got to the alleyway itself, carefully looking at the sides of the road. I stopped the car and rushed out when I saw the same figures in the picture.
“Are you f*cking deaf or something?! Take off everything on your body!”
I got there right on time because the one who looks like the ringleader was about to punch her face when I dragged him by the collar and delivered a huge punch to his face.
The other three guys came at me too, I had seen everything coming before they got to me, I twisted the hand of one to the back and kicked the second one, I faced the third one squarely, exchanging punches with him.
The pent-up anger in me propelled me to hit them faster, it was kind of a hassle since I was fighting three at a time but I took them down anyway.
The three of them were on the ground soon enough, groaning in pain. I made sure I broke two fingers from the three of them so they'd never forget everything that happened in one day.
I looked down to see Michelle in one corner, hugging herself to her chest. The guys were still groaning in pain.
“Hey.” I called out softly, a voice so soft that I didn't even know I could talk that way, I crouched down to her level.
She lifted up her head, her teary eyes looked into mine.
“You're here." She mumbled.
“I am."
I looked down to see that she was dressed in almost nothing. The dress she was putting on was on the floor and torn.
I took off my shirt and wrapped it around her body, “Can you get up?" I asked her.
She nodded and used the shirt on herself properly then stood up. The dress pooled to her legs and she shivered a little, wrapping her hand around herself.
She wobbled a bit when she took the first step. I caught her before she could fall and she fell right in my arms.
“Careful," I said.
I led her to my car and helped her get in. I turned around and got in too.

I started the engine and revved out of the alleyway. I noticed that she shivered a bit when I picked up speed.
