Chapter 25

My heart raced wildly in my chest at the sudden attack. I didn't even see anyone before I got there, where did they come from?

I wasn't allowed to even breathe after that as I was thrown another question and they all circled me. My head started feeling even more light as one of them got extremely close to me.

“Since when did you two start dating?" The female voice asked.

“Do you plan on getting married to him soon?"
I wanted to get out of their middle out of panic but I was pushed back to their middle roughly.

“Did you come here to get a pregnancy test?" One of them asked.

From the look of things, they were up to seven by the look of it. Seeing as I was really cornered and can't get out of there by the looks of it, I decided to put away my fears for once and stood up for myself.

“Let me go.” I screamed out.
That didn't stop them, they even seemed to get more interested. I was really infuriated, starting to get riled up.

Their cameras were in their faces, I was starting to get frustrated as angry tears threatened to roll down my eyes.

“What the f*ck is going on here?!" A familiar voice growled.

The reporters scattered off and fear crossed their faces. They all wanted to run off but he caught one of them before he could go too.

“Y'all think you can do as you like, harassing people everywhere you go? You'd regret ever coming here at all today!” He grabbed the man by the collar.

"And where the f*ck is this d*mn hospital security?! He yelled.

Two men, dressed in black appeared immediately, they ran towards Vincent.

“Here, handle him. He better be in the state's cops station by the time I come back here.” Vincent said, throwing the reporter to the two men who seized him by the hand.

He was before me in no time, “Are you okay?"He asked, checking me over.

“I'm okay." I mumbled after a while.
“I'm sorry about them, I should have come here earlier, those people really crossed the line.” He said.

"It's okay, it's not your fault.”
"Come with me.” He said, gesturing at me to come with him.

I wanted to walk forward but my legs were so weak that I fell to the ground immediately. Vincent turned around immediately.

He bent down beside me and picked me up in his arms instantly with his jaw ticking, I couldn't even protest with him that I could walk since I obviously couldn't.

He carried me in his arms up the stairs, I just hid my face in his chest as I was too embarrassed to look around us.

He took us back into the room he was being treated.
“Where did you drop the key?" He asked me.

"Over there.” I pointed at the place I was standing.

He picked up the key and started walking downstairs once more. I went back to hiding my face till he walked out of the hospital.

He unlocked the car before we even got there, opening the car's door with one hand and placing me in the passenger's seat with the other hand.

“I can do that." I stopped him from fastening my seatbelt.

He only glanced at me for a second before looking away like I didn't say a thing. He leaned in, only a hair's breadth away from me and tightened the seatbelt around me.

“Thank you." I mumbled as he was about to close the door.

He turned around and walked to the driver's seat of the car and got in. He started the car and drove out of the hospital.

“Would you love to get dinner with me before you leave?" He asked almost immediately we left the hospital.

“I just want to sleep.” I mumbled.
"And go to bed without eating? Here, order whatever you want to have here.” He handed over his phone to me.

"I'm good.” I mumbled, not taking the phone.
"Just do it, Michelle.” He said in a pleading voice, though underneath that is a commanding tone.

I sighed as I just collected the phone from him, “What's the password?" I asked.

“Vinnie." He said, making me glance up at him.
I typed it in and it unlocked. I went to the site he told me to and typed in what I wanted.

“What do you want?” I asked him, glancing up for a second.

"Mac and cheese, and steak.” He called out immediately as though he knew it even before I asked.

“Add the location to be the park close to your house. Are you good with that?" He asked. I nodded and typed it in and handed the phone to him.

He had gone off the highway at this point, turning into the street that leads to the park instead of my own house.

Exhaustion weighed on me and my eyes threatened to snap shut. I forced my eyes open, looking out the window and watching as cars moved by.

Despite my resistance to not sleep, my eyes eventually fluttered shut when he was almost at the park. I didn't know when he stopped the car and got out.

I felt someone tap me, I took it as an attack, probably because of what happened at the hospital earlier and started kicking.

“F*ck?! It's me, Michelle." Vincent's voice forced my eyes open.

I opened my eyes to see him gripping his hand, did I kick him?

“I'm sorry, I didn't know it was you.” I muttered.
"We're here. I wanted to tap you awake." He said, stepping aside so I could get out of the car.

I got out of the car and he locked it behind me. We're in the park, it's illuminated tonight so we could see everywhere normally.

We both walked towards a bench, I wasn't looking and tripped on a stone I didn't see on the floor. I almost hit the floor when strong arms wrapped around my waist, my back hit his chest.
