Chapter 22: A New Friend
**Michelle**
“I saw the CEO's girlfriend coming out of the toilet almost the same time you did yesterday, what was she even looking for in the staff's toilet?" Evelyn asked me on our way to the office yesterday.
“Yeah, nothing happened. Does she even know me?"I lied.
"Michelle, I know it's not been long since we started talking, but I know you well enough to know when you're lying. You're not telling me something.” She said.
I sighed, "Fine, I'll tell you. But you have to promise me that you won't tell anyone.” I said.
"Of course, I won't tell anyone.”
"She told me to stay away from Vin- the CEO.” I sighed.
"Why would she even say that? It's not like you're dating him or something.”. Evelyn frowned.
“I just don't know."
“It's either she saw something that made her say that, or she's just outright crazy. They're not even together anymore.”
“She still likes him, she's still obsessed with him." I stated.
“How do you know?" She asked as she turned into the office's premises. Seeing that building itself just made me remember what awaits me in there.
“It's just really obvious."
“True, but what could have made her come to you?" She asked.
I shrugged as I took off the seatbelts so I could get out of the car. Evelyn didn't ask me any more questions, she just left me alone to get out.
“I mightn't be able to drop you off today, I have an appointment before that time and I'll leave the office earlier than expected." She told me on our way into the building.
“Oh, okay. I hope there's no problem.” I asked.
"None at all. It's just a work issue I need to take care of.” She replied.
"Okay then, take care. I'll see you around.” I smiled, waving her off as we parted ways. I went into the store to pick up my tools.
I took the elevator and i was on the last floor in no time. I took in a very deep breath as I opened the office with my own key.
Luckily for me, i finished cleaning up before Vincent would even get here. When I was done, I just walked out of the office and locked his door.
This would be the first day he didn't come while I'm cleaning up, it's not even like I'm extra ordinarily early today.
I got on the elevator just when it was about to close, the person inside put their hand in between before it could close up.
I ran in with the equipments and all in my hand.
“Thank you." I muttered as I got in. It's a guy, he has the company's tag on his shirt so he's definitely working here.
“You're welcome." He smiled.
The elevator was going okay, counting each floor till the lights in there started flickering.
Fear gripped me as the whole elevator got dark and it stopped moving abruptly. A scream tore out of my mouth as my body hit the wall of the elevator due to the impact.
“Hey, are you okay?" I heard the guy ask.
He had put on his phone's flashlight but it did almost nothing to illuminate the elevator as it was the only source of light in there.
Raspy breathes left my lips with how scary the elevator is.
“I think, what's happening?!" I asked, almost stuttering.
“I think the light went off, it should be on again soon." He sounded so calm as though nothing was happening.
I was still breathing so heavily that my legs were starting to get weak.
“Just take in deep breathe, nothing's going to happen to you.” He moved closer to me, making the light shine more into my eyes.
The lights started flickering on and off again, making the elevator shake again. The man cussed out as I fell to the ground.
“Sh*t! No network. What the h*ll is going on?" He yelled out as he punched his phone angrily.
The elevator went pitch black again, the man took off his suit jacket then he also started pacing the floor.
“I don't even think anyone can hear us, neither does anyone know we're in here. And to add to that, there's no f*cking network in this place.” He growled out.
I brought out my own phone too to check if there's network on it too, but it's the same. I could barely see anything anymore with how dark the elevator was.
The guy also sat down beside me on the floor, we were both quiet.
“I'm Liam." His voice broke the silence.
“Michelle." I said after a while.
“I could have sworn that I've not seen your face anywhere in the office.” He said.
"Yeah, I started working here recently." I replied.
“I see, what department?"
“I'm a janitor." I responded.
“Wow, I work in the IT department." He replied.
“Nice, so you're in charge of everything concerning networking and everything in the office." I asked.
“Yes, it's a really interesting department though. How are you finding this place since you started working?” He asked, the air in the elevator had changed to a friendly one.
“It's pretty nice…” I trailed off.
Just then, the lights came on and the elevator started moving again.
“Thank goodness!" He muttered as he stood up.
It stopped right at the ground floor where we both came out from.
“It was nice talking to you." He said as we both got out.
“Same here, thanks for earlier." I smiled.
"It's nothing, I guess I'll see you around again.” He said and walked away.
I walked towards the closet where I keep things, then I picked up the materials for washing thr toilets. I'm not the one on duty for cleaning some of the other offices today.
“Did you see how hot that kiss was? Even in the parking lot, I told you that they still love one another. I just don't know why they broke up in the first place.” Two ladies were discussing when I got into the toilet.
“Who would have thought the CEO could kiss that way?”
