Chapter 21: His Problems

**Vincent**

It's evening now and I'm rounding up already, I should be out in five minutes. When a knock came on the door, I looked at it with an indifferent look.

I'm not even meant to receive any visitors at this time of the evening. When the knock came again, I just muttered a 'come in’ .

The moment that choking cologne filtered into my nostrils, I muttered profanities to myself.

“What the hell do you want?" I asked the moment she got in.

“Good evening to you too, Vincent." Valerie said.
"Is it until I file a restraining order against you? Who let you inside in the first place?” I growled.

"Please, Vincent. My career is rapidly going down. All I ask for is a date from you, and I'll never disturb you again.” She pleaded.

"I don't care if your career goes down to shambles, that's none of my concern. You stopped being my problem the day I broke it off with you.” I said in a hard tone.

"Pl-” I cut her off before she could finish that.
“Get. Out."

“Vin-" the glare on my face made her shut up herself, she walked out of the office while trying so hard to sway her butts.

I picked up my bag and phone then walked out of my office. I saw my secretary in her seat, also packing up.

“I want your resignation letter in my office first thing tomorrow morning or I will fire you myself, and you know what that means.” I said.

She looked up from her cubicle with a very shocked look on her face but before she could say anything, I had gotten to my elevator.

She has been letting people in my office without my permission for a while now and it's high time I just let her go.

Privacy is something I hold very important, letting people to my office at any time is just way out of proportion.

I drove home with a calm composure. Getting a driver is just something I don't think I'd like, privacy. Besides, I love my car too much to let another person drive it for me.

When I got home, it was dark everywhere so I used my phone's light to locate the switch. I was almost scared to wits when I saw a figure seated on the couch in the living room.

“What are you doing here, mother?” I asked in a cold tone, my relaxed composure from the car ebbed away completely.

"I've been trying to get to you for a while, you've not been picking my calls." She said, standing up.

“And what gave you the right to come in here? How did you get in?"

“I still have the key." She replied and I kept a mental note to have the locks changed by tomorrow.

“What do you want?" I asked.
“I think you should freshen up before we have this conversation." She replied.

I scoffed, “What makes you think I want you in my house for that long? It's either you say what you came here for or leave my house.”

She gasped, as though offended. “That's not the way to talk to your mother." She said,

“Tell that to someone who cares. It's better you speak now, I don't have all the time in the world."

"How do I start this? So people have been speculating that you're impotent.” She started.

I might have laughed out loud if that was a normal conversation between a mother and her son, but we were never normal, not even when I was a child.

“And how's that got to do with me?"

“They're speculating because it's been long since anyone saw you with a woman. You're not getting any younger, Vincent." She said,

"If this is the reason you came here, then you probably need to focus on other things instead of me.” I said lazily.

" Really, Vincent, you don't care if people see you as impotent?”

"I can decide to grow old and wrinkled without getting married or having a child, it's my choice and not yours. F*ck what people think.” I replied to her.

Her mouth only went wide agape as she looked at me in shock.

“If that would be all, I'd really love to lock my door from behind now.” I said, indirectly telling her to go.

She sighed as she picked her bag and walked to the door, she knows it's pointless to argue with me. Especially not with a child you abandoned.

Immediately she was out of the door, I locked the door behind her. I ran upstairs and entered my room.

I had a long, cold bath then changed into casual clothes. I went downstairs and microwaved the food my housekeeper left for dinner.

When I was done, I went back outside, but not before activating the password lock for the door so only I could go in for now.

I texted Michelle to start getting ready already but she hasn't replied to me yet.

I drove towards her house which was kind of far from mine, but with the kind of speed I use while driving alone, I got there in no time.

I called her number this time around since she wasn't replying to her texts. She didn't pick the call either. She better not be sleeping.

“I guess I'll have to go there alone." I said to myself when she didn't return the calls, neither did she pick the call.

There's just no way I'm going over there to knock, I was about to start the car when the door of the house was opened.

Michelle came out and walked towards the car. I noticed that she wasn't dressed like she was going out for the night, she was in her pajamas.

“Good evening." She said after opening up the door, she only spoke through the door, and didn't get in.

"You're late.” Was the first thing I said.
"I'm sorry but I won't be going with you tonight.” She said back.

"And you're only just telling me now?”
"I'm sorry, not all of us take threats lightly.”
