Chapter 32
“I don't know what made you think that, but you're never alone in this world, you have me and other amazing people around you if you look at it really well. I'm always here for you if you ever need a shoulder to cry on.”
Tears welled up in my eyes at her words, the last time I heard someone say something like that to me was before my brother died.
I only had one friend in highschool who I've lost contact with now and though we have each other's backs, we aren't that involved in saying things like that to one another.
“Thank you." I whispered.
Her hand grabbed mine and she caressed it softly, “You're always welcome."
We eventually had to get out of the car and walked into the company, just what I've been trying to avoid.
“Let's have lunch together today, and don't try to tell me that you'd be busy, i know you don't work during that time.” She said, almost glaring.
"Okay, okay.” I raised up my hand as though surrendering to her.
"All bills on me.” She added.
She glared at me as I tried to protest so I just had to clamp my mouth shut again.
“Okay then, it's settled. See you at lunch." She sashayed away.
I knocked on Vincent's door when I got there, using the keys with me when I didn't hear a response. When the doorknob turned after I put the key, I realized that he wasn't there and I relaxed a little bit.
I tried to clean it as fast as I could, but I had to do double work because I didn't clean it yesterday too.
I was cleaning the entrance of his office when he came in. It was that time I wished I had super powers so I could teleport or something.
I stepped aside so he could come in, the first thing I saw was his shiny shoes, he stopped right in front of me.
“Good morning." I said just when it looked like he wasn't going to say anything, he only stopped before me.
"Did you even sleep last night?” He asked, frowning a little bit.
“I did, thanks for your hospitality and for coming to my rescue last night too.” I said to him.
"It wasn't anything, I happen to be passing there at that time and saw the boys harassing someone.” He said plainly and went to his desk.
"This isn't clean enough.” He said, using one of his thumb pad to touch the table.
I went back to the table with the napkin I used to clean it earlier. I wiped it with all my strength as I had packed everything on it to one side earlier.
“Still not clean enough, you didn't clean that side." He said when I stepped back, indicating that I was done.
I looked at where he was pointing at to see that there was only a speckle of dust. I sighed and walked over to clean it.
“Is there anything else you want?" I asked in a professional tone.
“Uh, I think so. The toilet in here is kind of dirty, it needs to be cleaned.” He said.
“I wasn't employed to wash toilets, the only thing I do is clean offices." I said with gritted teeth.
"And I'm the boss here, whatever I say is final." He replied, sitting down on his seat.
Since when did I start cleaning his office? I'm no toilet cleaner!
“I'm sorry but I can't clean it, I'll just help you call the person who clwans it.” I said with a tone of finality.
“As long as I'm still the boss here, I command you to wash that toilet.” His jaw was clenched.
“What exactly do you want from me." I said with a tone of exasperation.
"Who said I want something from you, all I did was tell you to do your job or you report to the human resources department.”
I glared hard at him then with my teeth grinding hard against themselves with how hard I was clenching them together.
I didn't say anything but walked into the toilet. On getting in there, I noticed that the toilet was, it was almost without any speckle.
I wonder if he ever uses it at all. But that didn't mean I'm meant to clean it. I wonder why he's even acting this way in the first place.
I cleaned it to the extent that I could before walking out again.
“I'm done." I said when I got out without looking at him, it was when I heard another voice that he wasn't the only one in the office.
Liam was before him and they were both talking casually. I've now come to the conclusion that they're close friends, i don't think I've ever seen anyone talk to him that way.
“Oh, hi Liam." I said with my head held high.
"Hey love.” He replied with a different tone. I didn't act shocked or anything though he hasn't called me that before.
I took everything I used out of Vincent's office with frustration thrumming though me. I walked out of his office eventually, but not before seeing anger on his face as our eyes clashed before I closed the door.
Did I do something to him now? I tried so hard to ignore it, but it just kept nagging at the back of my mind that he was mad at me.
What exactly did I do?
