Chapter 24

His chest fell and rose, I had no idea if that was because of what she said or the illness.

“Well, they won't stop blowing up your phone and I just has to pick up the call since you were passed out.” I replied.

"You really need to stop overstepping your boundaries, you do not have the right to answer my phone.” He said in a dark voice.

"What would you have me do? I was only trying to help you out, you were unconscious like I said, your battery would have gone flat if I didn't inform your secretary about your health.” I replied, almost matching his tone.

"That still didn't justify the fact that you interfered in my personal life by taking my call.” He said again.

How can someone be this stubborn? The glare on his face that was directed at me made me get even more unsettled.

I started battling with my own thoughts. Did i really do something wrong by informing his secretary or I could have just left it like he said.

“Forgive me for interfering in your personal life then, it would never happen again.” I said to him in a professional tone, trying so hard to mask my facial expression.

He didn't say anything, just like I expected. That stone look on his face was still so obvious. I don't even think I've seen him smile ever before.

I envisioned his smiling face, I bet he has a dimple, and his lips would be more beautiful while spread out, his cheeks would look even better if he stretched them and his jaw…

I almost smacked myself for daydreaming about him right now, how much more shameless could I be?

I cleared my throat, making him look at me.
“Is there anything you still want me to do for you? I need to take my leave now." I said.

"Uh, thank you for today, getting me to the hospital and all.” He said.

I didn't move, neither did I say anything. How he goes from being cold to normal then cold again confuses me a lot.

“Can I leave now?” I asked him in a professional tone instead.

I heard him say as he sat on the bed in a way that his legs were on the floor instead.

"Did you go back to the office after driving me here?” He asked me.

This is starting to look like a question and answer session right now. I tried so hard to bite down the words that bubbled up my throat at the question he asked me.

“Yes." I lied.

I don't even know what I was doing when I stayed with him all through when i know that I'd be in trouble with my supervisor tomorrow for leaving that way.

“Oh, sorry about earlier, I was mad that someone else used my phone other than me. I shouldn't have talked that way when you were only doing it for me.

“It's okay." I mumbled, looking away from him.
He stood up from the bed, “You don't get it, I'm not used to people getting to use my things that way, I shouldn't have said that to you.” He said.

"You shouldn't be out of bed yet, you're meant to be in bed till tomorrow.” I turned around as I faced him.

“I'm okay now, we should leave already, I feel okay now." He said, chucking after.

“No, the doctor said you have to rest till tomorrow. He should be here any moment from now.” I looked into his eyes.

His eyes had softened, way softer than it has been since I knew him. “I don't care about what she*t he has to say, I'm leaving now." He said.

“I forgot for a moment that I was talking to the ‘Vincent’.” I said, more to myself.

Just then, the room's door was pushed open from outside. I stepped aside from Vincent as though we were doing something bad.

The doctor walked in, he looked up to see Vincent, a shocked looked came up on his face before he composed himself once more.

“You're awake."
“As I should be." Vincent countered back.

"Mr Vincent, seeing your present health status, it's not advisable that you move around this way. You had a concussion before you passed out.” The doctor said.

"How do I sign out of here? I'm okay now.” Vincent replied him as though the man didn't just say that he couldn't go.

"I'm try-” He interrupted the man.
"Do you love your job and do not want to lose it?”

The man gulped nervously, "Yes.” He mumbled, his voice going from being normal to a shaky one.

I started to feel sorry for the man that I felt like smacking Vincent that moment for being so rude.

“Then spare me that advice and lead me to the place where I make payment." Vincent said.

The man nodded rapidly, Vincent turned around as though checking if he left anything, he looked back then to me.

“Let's go." He said.
The doctor was at the door already so Vincent and I started walking out of the room too.

Vincent let me pass before he did, moving a little so I can get out before he did. The man led us all the way downstairs to the ground floor.

“I can take it from here." Vincent said to the man when we got to the place where you check out.

I should have just used a nose mask or something. I felt a flicker of light on my face from a distance, I could deduce so much that it was a camera light.

Vincent is like the only popular businessman that I know doesn't go around with an aide.

I tried as much as possible to face the other side, I wasn't ready to appear in the news the next morning.

“I'm done, let's go."
We both walked to the entrance and i kind of kept my distance though one could still deduce that we were together.

“Get in, I'll drive you home." He said when we got to his car.

"Sh*t! I forgot your car key in the hospital room.” I cussed as I suddenly remembered.

Vincent looked up, his eyes met mine once more.
“I'll go in to take it then." He said.

“No, I'll go in and be out in no time." I ran off before jr could stop me.

The moment i passed the reception anyways, I was stopped by the blinding lights of cameras as I was attacked from all angles.

"Are you Mr Vincent's girlfriend?"
