Chapter 26: The Night with Him
**Michelle**
I visibly tensed as soon as my body made contact with his, I would have made contact with the ground if he hadn't steadied me with his arms.
My stupid heart wouldn't stop thomping loudly, my stomach was no better, it fluttered endlessly with butterflies.
Soon enough though, those butterflies turned to s reminder that I was hungry, my stomach growled loudly and I heard Vincent chuckle.
I detached from him immediately after that, coming back to my senses. My cheeks heat up that I'm so certain I'd be more red than a tomato.
“The delivery guy is here." He said as his phone pinged right on time.
A flash of headlights shone on my face, making me squint hard with how bright the lights were.
“There he is." Vincent said as he walked over to the bike.
I was left alone to myself and I started chastising myself for being so stupid. I placed my hand over my chest as though I was talking to it.
It was still beating erratically in my chest, stupid. Vincent walked over within a minute with a brown stuff in his hand.
He sat down beside me placing the package between us.
We were practically the only ones here, well except for the park’s guard in the distance.
“Thank you." I mumbled when he placed what I ordered for between us.
“It's the least I can do to repay everything you did for today." He replied.
I didn't even know this came with a bottle of water, or I didn't just read the instructions well. Little wonder the price is a little on the high side.
I took the first bite and i resisted the urge to moan out in ecstacy as the taste of the different ingredients melted on my tongue.
My eyes did close though as I relished the taste on my taste buds before taking another spoon, and another till I was so full I couldn't sallow anything again.
There were two bottles of water between us and he had dropped one directly before me, I picked it up and started turning the cap but it wouldn't yield.
A groan involuntarily escaped my mouth as I tried harder but it still didn't give way.
“Let me." AVincent said as he stretched out his hand to take the bottle from me.
I looked at him with a look of indifference before handing it to him, our hands brushed slightly as I gave it to him.
The warm sensation that coursed through me from only touching his hand didn't go unnoticed by me and it only managed to make me frown.
He turned the cap and it opened up immediately he did it, without even doing anything. Wow.
“Here." He said with an arrogant smirk on the corner of his mouth.
I took it from him, “Thank you." The arrogant smirk on his face widened even more.
“You don't have to be so proud about it, you know. Maybe it was about to open up before I gave it to you, it wasn't that easy to open."
"I agree.” He mumbled, though the mirth on his face made it obvious that he was joking.
I placed the water on my lips and drank a little bit of it before placing it down.
He's so egoistical and arrogant and he's so proud about it, he had finished eating way before I did, he was just looking forward.
“You said you called my secretary earlier to inform her about my absence, it's still the same secretary right?” He asked, suddenly glancing at me.
"Yes, the same one I know."
His jaw ticked but he still managed to look composed, despite the angry look on his face.
“She really thinks I was joking." He said, more to himself.
“What happened? why did you ask? if you'd like to share." I asked, voicing out the question on my mind.
"I fired her, yesterday after she did something I've been warning her about and she dares to still come back today.” He responded.
My mouth formed an 'oh', I didn't want to pry further by asking him what she did so I just remained quiet. I still kind of find it hard to believe that the Vincent Black is really sitting beside me.
Now that I look at it, it's just like any other conversation with any other person. I might have stayed up for almost the whole of last night, reading about him.
Almost all the blogs in New York city has something to say about him. He was worse before he dusted Valerie and she seemed to be the one who changed him, he used to be a player.
They dated for three years before they broke up, the reason for the breakup isn't known by anyone. He also tops the list for the youngest mysterious billionaire.
Most people only know his name because he's hardly ever seen in public.
I jumped up as someone touched my bare arm, I was forced out of my reverie, looking up to see Vincent looking at me with a questioning look on my face.
“Michelle?" He called in a questioning tone.
"Yeah?”
"I've been trying to get your attention. Are you okay?” He asked, lifting up an eyebrow at me.
“Yes, what were you saying?"
“I said it's about to rain, we might need to start going." He replied.
As if on cue, thunder rumbled in the distance making a bolt of lightning came out.
“Ohh, I didn't notice.” My eyes widened as I looked up. How didn't I notice that wind has picked up too? Vincent stood up and picked up the things we used to eat.
He dropped it in the waste bin close to us and we both walked towards the car. The atmosphere has changed a whole lot by the time we got to the car.
It's really obvious that it's going to rain really hard tonight. We both got into the car and he started the car. The radio in the car was the only sound that could be heard when the car started moving.
It's so warm in here that I almost forgot that it was freezing outside, It's summer now, I won't even be surprised if it snowed.
“Thank you.” I smiled as she stopped the car just outside my house.
He nodded in response and I closed the door behind me, running towards the house.
“Who is that guy?",
