Chapter Nineteen
*MARKS POV*
I couldn't stand to think about the past when Morgan was around. My past was not something I wanted to dread to long on. When she had asked me about why I wasn't in a pack, I couldn't exactly say that I was a Rogue. Rogues are not the most liked in this world of monsters. If that's what you want to call us. I made my way through the crowd at her party, disappearing and leaving her behind. I walked out of the house, breathing in the air around me. I let out a deep sigh.
*'Why the fuck is this so hard?!'* I thought to myself, running my hands through my unruly black hair. I shook my head. Thinking back to what happened moments before, I smiled to myself. I found my mate, my wonderful angel, my other half. I asked her to marry me, and she said yes. Which, I had no doubt in my mind wouldn't have happened. That girl is just as smitten with me as I am her. Some would call it being "whipped" but I didn't see it like that. Werewolves, we mate for life. However, my past plagues me. Like I don't belong in her life, in our future together. I shake my head yet again. *'Damn the fucking Council. Damn them all.'* I swore to myself I would protect Morgan and Sabrina till the day I die, but I don't know if I can actually keep them safe. They're nearly not strong enough to face the Council, however, with both their powers combined, they may put up a fighting chance. They definitely need more training.
"Mark?" I turn to see Sabrina walk out of the house, her face pale. I rush over to her.
"What's going on Sabrina?" Fear courses through my body. "Where is Morgan?" She just looks at me like she's seen a ghost.
"Morgan's fine." She shakes her head. "I just had a vision." She closed her eyes. *'A vision? This is new. I don't remember that being part of Sabrina's powers.'*
"What happened Sabrina? Tell me, what is going on?" I grabbed her shoulders, squeezing them reassuringly. She takes a deep breath. Her body is trembling.
"My vision. It showed grave danger, and it's coming this way. I don't know when, but it's going to be too much. I have to leave. I have to get more training. I have to protect Morgan. I'm too weak right now."
"What about Morgan? Will she be going with you?" I half-whispered. She shook her head.
"No, she can't. Not just yet. I have to leave, now. But I can't leave her on her birthday. Everything finally started going well. I don't know what to do." She started sobbing. Her body shook with each sob. I hugged her and tossled my fingers through her hair trying to comfort her. "Mark, I can't leave her. But I have to! Otherwise, Morgan could- she might just-" Sabrina could bring herself to say what we are both thinking.
"Ssshhhh." I continued soothing her. "I understand. I'll protect her. You need to leave, Morgan will understand."
"No! No she won't understand! She'll hate me! I can already see it!" Sabrina pushed away from me. Suddenly, the smell of warm vanilla filled my nostrils, overriding my senses completely. I looked to the door to see Morgan standing there. She just watched, saying nothing.
"Sabrina-"
"No Mark! You don't understand! I don't want to leave, but I have to! I have to leave her and-" She glanced to the side, seeing Morgan walking up to her. Sabrina's face went paler, her voice breaking off.
"You, you have to leave?" Morgan's voice was soft, cracking slightly. My heart ached. I couldn't see my beautiful mate looking so sad. "But why?"
"Morgan." Sabrina grabbed her hands in her own. "I don't want to leave. But there's something forcing me. I had a vision, and we're all in terrible danger. Something is coming, and if I don't leave, I won't be powerful enough to protect you or anyone." Sabrina broke down sobbing again. Morgan's face twisted with confusion. "You can't leave. The Council won't let you even though you're 18 now. They may have promised, but they won't let you leave."
"Okay." Morgan raised her head, eyes showing determination. She looked at her cousin and hugged her dearly. "Then leave. I won't hate you. I won't feel betrayed. You have to go do this, for the both of us. We will both be stronger if you go and get more training. Then you can come back and train me. I know I should be pissed or upset, but we both know the Council's reactions at this point." She placed a hand gently on her cousin's face, wiping the tears away. "Go. Before anyone finds out. I promise, I'll be okay. If one of use can get away and get out of here, I would prefer it to be you. I will be fine. I remember what you taught me, and I will continue practicing." She hugged Sabrina tightly. Sabrina started bawling into her shoulder, shaking her head. They gave each other one last hug before pulling apart.
"Don't forget the talisman. If you need me, you use the talisman, I promise, I'll come running as quickly as I can." Morgan nodded and watched as Sabrina ran to leave. Tears started flowing down her face. I walked up to Morgan, grabbing her hand and continued watching as Sabrina disappeared from sight.
"You're stronger than you realize, Morgan." I said softly, squeezing her hand reassuringly. Morgan looked up, her face overflowing with tears that cascaded down her face. My heart broke, shattered was more like it. She smiled softly, looking back in the direction Sabrina disappeared to.
"I know I am." She looked up at me, determination swimming in those beautiful eyes of hers. "I'm ready for them. Let's give 'em hell."
