Chapter Forty-Two
*Marks POV*
"Luna is a pretty scary person." Nathaniel speaks, turning towards the woods to make our way back. "She is kind, though. I don't think I've ever met a woman who could make my blood run cold and make me feel noticable at the same time." I looked at him, curious.
"What do you mean?"
"Before I followed you, she was stern. She was speaking to me in a commanding voice, which I don't think she realized she was doing. Her aura of power was immense. As I started walking away to follow you, she stopped me, asking my name. When I told her, her voice softened, thanking me and asking me to keep an eye on you. Her power flow is astounding to say the least."
Pride greatly flowed off me in waves. Nathaniel smirked, sensing how proud of my mate I was. I don't think anyone could ever have such a profound woman as I did. She was brave, diligent, kind, nurturing, absolutely sexy in every aspect of the word, and all mine.
"She can be a pretty scary woman, that's for sure. I pissed her off once and damn near shit myself." I laughed, remembering how badly I had pissed Morgan off while she was training one day.
"What did you do?" Nathaniels eye's grew a bit wide, looking sideways at me, still keeping track of where we were going. I laughed even harder.
"It was before Sabrina left. Morgan and her were training one day, and I guess I was just being bothersome. It was before she finally got a decent grasp of her fire powers. Needless to say, I was almost set on fire because she hadn't learn to control her anger yet. I was trying to help her, and ended up almost being burned alive in the process. She was seething at the end of it all, and even went so far as to tell me that she wouldn't have felt bad if I caught on fire! My pride and ego was wounded!" I feigned hurt covering my hand with my chest. It felt good joking around with Nathaniel like this. It had been too long. Nathaniel smirked, turning towards the area that we could smell the remnants of the packs scent coming from.
"If I was her, I'd probably let you burn too. You can be quite bothersome when you want to be." Shock flashed over my face, showing how horrified I was that he would say something like that.
"Dude! You wound me!"
He snickered. "Well Alpha, I can't speak for everyone, but I know how you can get sometimes. If I had those kind of powers, I'm pretty sure I would have burned you quite a few times, too." A smile graced his face. A smile I haven't seen in a very long time.
"You do know that they are heading to Morgan and Sabrina's house right?" I asked him, wondering why we were heading back to the battleground. He nodded.
"I'd like to get my car, if that's okay with you Alpha?" He stops to turn and look at me. Him and his cars. I shake my head.
"What's going to happen when you finally meet your mate and have pups? You can't be driving sports cars all around with carseats." He waved his hand in the air.
"I'll cross that bridge when I get to it, for the time being, I enjoy my fast, luxurious cars." He manifested his key damn near out of nowhere. I followed him to his 2014 Cadillac XTS. The damn car was sleek and shiny. The windows were all tinted out, racing tires and rims were attached to this car. He had completely decked it out every way he could. He tapped the hood of it.
"The engine is fucking beautiful. It rides smoothly and elegantly and is quiet as a mouse. I had the engine custom made for this car specifically."
I couldn't deny the car had it's appeal to it, however, it still was just a car. I didn't quite fancy the luxurious car life, I enjoyed my lifted pick-ups. I shook my head at him.
"I'll take my lifted F-350 anyday. I bet I can cream your ass in a race." I said jokingly. I doubt that pick-up could beat his car, but teasing him was so much fun. His face showed challenge. *'What did I do?'*
"You want to make a wager on that, Alpha?" He stated, climbing in and starting the car. The interior was decked out in all black leather with a touch screen radio. The two front seats were bucket seats, but they were damn comfy. Every portion of this car screamed money. I admired the leather seat, leaning it back as far as it would go.
"Nah, I know your car would probably kick my ass anyday. How much horsepower does this thing have?"
"Over 2,500 HP. It's glorious."
"Yeah, you'd definitely win. I wouldn't even allow myself to enter a race I couldn't win. My pride would never let me live with a loss under my belt." He chuckled.
"Suit yourself, Alpha."
Before I knew it, we were speeding down the dirt road. Speeding in a car was like a lullaby. I closed my eyes adjusting myself around on the seat to get comfortable. It was a relatively short drive to Morgan's house, but I needed to close my eyes for a moment. Before I knew it, I was fast asleep.
Next thing I know, the car was pulling up into Morgan's driveway. I was jerked awake as the door to the passanger side was thrown open, a loud roar piercing the car. I closed my eyes and side. "What do you want Meg?"
"Where the fuck have you been?! We have been waiting for hours!" We couldn't get ahold of either of you!" I jumped up, looking at Nathaniel's empty seat.
"What the fuck do you mean hours?! Where the hell is Nathaniel?!" I jumped out of the car, sniffing the air inside. His scent was barely there, as if hours had passed since he was beside me. It was only a 20 minute drive from Meg's house to Morgan's. What had taken us so long to get back? Where the hell was Nathaniel? Where did we go?
"What do you mean 'where is Nathaniel'?! I thought he was with you!" I stood up, looking directly at Meg. There was an uknown, faint, scent in the car. It was disgustingly sweet.
*"Nathaniel?! Where the fuck are you? What happened?"* I tried mindlinking him, but it was almost as if he had closed it down on his side.
"Nathaniel's gone." A sweet, small voice appeared behind us. A girl, no older than Morgan, stood behind Meg. I instantly recognized her sent, growling and pushing Meg behind me. I could feel Meg's eyes direct towards me and back to her. Her long, black hair cascaded down her back, a look of innocence plastered on her face. I could see Meg from the corner of my eye stiffen. She growled lowly, baring her canines at the girl.
"Who are you?" She seethed.
"Violet!" Morgan and Sabrina gasps were heard from the doorway. Violet, turned towards them, an air of danger surrounding her.
"Stay back, Morgan. You too, Sabrina."
"What are you talking about Mark? That's-"
"She's dangerous!" I cut off Morgan's response. Violet turned back towards me, her eyes changing between green and red. I growled again at her. "Where is Nathaniel."
She flipped the hair that had fallen over her shoulder back in it's place behind it. "He's safe. He's my mate. I happened to run into the both of you as you were driving back. He's sleeping at the moment, but he's not far from here. I'm sorry, but I had to get you all alone to myself for a short while. I kept you asleep, as to not disturb you." Her voice low and soft. Morgan and Sabrina rushed over to the girl, completely ignoring my warnings about her. They all hugged and giggled like school girls.
I stalked to Morgan, grabbing her arm and pulling her away.
"Mark, what the fuck are you doing? She's on our side!" Morgan tried squirming out of my grip, but I tightened it. "Ow! Mark you're hurting me!"
"How do you know she's on our side?!" I breathed into her ear, holding her arm tighter. Her whole body went rigid when she shot her face around to look directly at me.
"Because she's Mr. Irving's daughter."
