Chapter Fifty
*Morgan's POV*
Seeing Marks Wolf out like this was interesting to say the least. He never showed himself to anyone, hardly even to myself. It was nice. The way he was portraying himself to James, and how he allowed him to talk to him in that manner with no course of action or punishment is an amazing improvement on Mark's Wolfs part. Normally, from what I heard, Mark's Wolf would have ripped James apart.
I turned on my heel, retreating towards the room where everyone was nervously and anxiously awaiting their Alpha and leader. This was going to be a long night. Once James and Mark stepped inside the door, Sabrina and I put a barrier spell up, in case we had any unwanted visitors. Celestial told me of an escape route through here at one point in time, so knowing that I whispered to Sabrina to cast something to protect the corridor from anyone just in case we have to make a quick escape.
The room was fairly large. Large enough to fit about 300 vampires in here during the time of the prosecutions that were taking place against vampires and werewolves alike. Celestial once had told me about them hiding here during the daylight when the hunters went scouting around the place. I don't know how well it's going to work against these hybrids though.
Once Sabrina and I were done double checking everything, I made my way up to Mark, James and Violet. The pack was restless, it was easy to tell. They couldn't figure out why they were being hidden here. I felt bad for them. I sent waves of a calmness to try and calm them down. Sabrina caught on to my idea, and soon they all were quiet and at peace for the time being. Violet nodded her head in my direction, showing her approval to start the discussion. I nudge Mark's wolf to start talking. He clears his throat and steps forward. The pack members face their Alpha; determination, curiousity, slight fear and undying loyalty filling the air around us. He glances back at me, holding his hand out for me to approach with him. I grab his hand, stepping forward to his side, and look out towards the group.
"Everyone, I would like to first introduce your Luna, Morgan. My mate given to me by the Moon Goddess. You will all get to meet her after the meeting, and I'm sure you will all love her." Blushing, I wave towards the crowd. Each individual pack member hooted and hollered at the fact that their Alpha finally found his mate. Mark's Wolf raises his hand to silence the crowd, all the enjoyment slowly dying down.
"I know you are all very excited about this, as am I. However, we have more important things to discuss. As your Alpha, there is much you need to know about me when it comes to the Wolf side, the side that is out right now, addressing you. I am not your average Wolf. There is more to me than meets the eye. I am a cold-blooded killer. I have done horrible things in the past. If not for Meg," Marks Wolf turns his head slightly towards his sister, motioning her to come forward, "I would not be standing here today. She saved me from turning feral. I was on a killing rampage because our father attacked us and I lost control. Hurting my friends, my family and my pack does not bode well with me and I will attack at full force. Mark and I are still learning to work with each other. I am much stronger than he is, but there are areas where he conquers and I do not. This will be a constant challenge. I ask that you give me time to adjust to this life. I will be grouchy and snappy, but I promise, no harm will come to you. You are my fellow pack members and I treasure those who follow us with everything I have."
Everyone in the room kept silent while Mark explained his story. Meg cut in quite a few times to tell her side of the story as well. The pack was extremely attentive, listening to every word Mark had to say. They never questioned him once, never turned away from him. They hung on every word he had to say as he explained the whole story behind his past and explained how to restrain him if necessary. It was amazing how well the pack that he created, stood by him. I looked over every single person in the room. Each one had a stoic face, a smile, a grin, shaking their head in agreement with everything he was saying. It made a smile grace my face. The loyalty of his pack was stronger than any bond a family member could have. These were people that needed a pack, a family, someone to guide them and when they all came together under Mark and Meg's care as Alpha's, they looked up to them, cared for them and stood by their side. These people were even ready to go to war for them even though they aren't even meant to be apart of it.
"I appreciate you all for paying close attention to what I had to say. It means the world to me that you are willing to stand by Mark's side along with myself. However, this war is not necessarily yours to fight. If you feel the need to leave, you will not be reprimanded or removed from the pack, this is to find out exactly who will be fighting with us and who won't be." I spoke out to everyone once Mark was finished talking. Each member turned their heads towards me, silent, calm, collected. Each one started hooting quietly before it grew, each one loudly stating that they were here for their Alpha and Luna and they would die protecting them. Tears clouded my vision as I looked towards Mark. He grabbed my hand, smiling softly. These people, who barely even knew me, were willing to risk their lives for me and Mark. I never felt more honored, and the need to protect these people with every breath I have in me grew stronger every second.
Mark waved his hand to silence the crowd. Nathaniel leaned over towards me, "they respect you, Luna. They are showing you they will not abandon their Alpha and they will not abandon you. These people had nowhere to turn to and Mark and Meg gave them a home, a community to strive in. They may have moved from place to place, but they followed Mark with no hesitation. They are a menacingly, strong pack. Let them be there for you, my Luna."
Turning towards Nathaniels direction, he smirked, leaning back to kiss Violet on the top of the head. She froze, not expecting the affection, her face turning a bit red from the contact of the mate bond. I know it was something she wasn't used to. She was never used to any kind of affection.
"I have someone I need to introduce." Marks voice boomed throughout the small conference space. Everyone went silent. If a pin dropped, it would have echoed throughout the whole hall. "Violet, is a Hybrid, and is here to help us with any information she has to inform us with." Violet looked up towards me, then to Mark. Nodding her head, she walked past me up to the podium. You could tell everyone was holding their breath, waiting for this new person to speak. I looked to Violet, smirking, seeing how nervous she was to be standing in front of a crowd she's never met before.
"We are at war."
