Chapter Twenty

Morgan's POV

It had been a week since my 18th birthday, and the day carried on as any. Sabrina and I had already graduated high school and we were supposed to continue practicing with our powers, making them grow stronger. However, she was being forced by something to leave. I sat on the fence, watching the horses run wild in the pasture that was connected to the barn. Sabrina had walked up to me to tell me something on my birthday, but when her hand had touched me, she stood still, shock evident in her eyes. It took me a minute before I was able to get her to look directly at me, her fingers digging into my arm as horror etched its way onto her face. When she finally came to, she looked at me, tears evidently showing, but she was not allowing them to fall. Before I could ask her what had happened, she turned and botled out the back door. At this point, people were coming up and telling me they were leaving and I was thanking them for coming. I made my way to the back door, when I heard Sabrina yelling at someone. I came to the door and saw her standing there with Mark, as he was trying to comfort her.

I kept hearing her say she had to leave, and anger started surging through my blood. I wanted to know what had happened that was forcing her to have to leave me when everything started going perfectly. I sighed. I jumped down off the fence and made my way into the barn. Finishing up my cleaning and feeding duties, I started leading the horses in one by one. The feeling of being watched was extremely plausible. Every time I took a step, the hairs on my arms and the back of my neck stood straight up. I wouldn't let the fear consume me. I finsihed getting all the horses in and started locking up. Someone or something was in here. The horses started stirring, fear slowly creeping through the barn. Classic and Punch were going haywire in their stalls. I rushed to try to soothe them, when I saw a shadow pass by at the end of the corridor.

"Who's there?!" I screamed, fear creeping into my voice. I tried to shake the fear away, but it wasn't doing any good. All the alarms were going off in my head. I couldn't focus. Sparks started to trickle from my hands. *'Fuck, I can't throw fire in here, the whole barn will light up in flames! I have to get out of here. They obviously aren't after the horses, so they should be fine.'* I looked around trying to find any weapon that could help me while I escaped to my car. I grabbed a pitchfork I had used to clean the stalls with. *'Oh yeah, cause a pitchforks gonna help against a shadow.'* I sarcastically thought to myself. I'm such an idiot. I started walking towards the exit, pitchfork in tow. I kept glancing all around, over my shoulder, in front of me, and into the stalls. I made it to where the shadow had disappeared. I heard rummaging coming from around the corner. I raised the pitch fork, preparing to attack, when a woman walked around the corner, scaring me half-to-death, and I'm pretty sure I did the same to her.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing?!" She hollared, leaping back against the wall before I could swing the pitchfork. That voice! I recognized it from somewhere. I dropped the pitchfork, and held my chest.

"What the fuck are you doing?!" I retorted back. "You're trespassing on private property! I have every right to attack!" I snapped.

"Wait, you're that girl..." Her eyes acknoweldging who I actually was.

"You're that she-wolf!" My eyes widened in shock at her human form. Her wolf was a gorgeous brown that shimmered golden brown underneath the sun. The woman standing in front of her had golden-brown hair with big round brown eyes. She was slightly shorter than myself, but not by much. "What're you doing here? You could get killed!"

"Ssssshhhh!" She hissed, lunging at me, and covering my mouth. My eye's went wide with shock and fear coursed through my veins. "Calm down, I'm not going to kill you. If I wanted to, you'd be dead already. I came because I'm here to help you." She looked around as if looking to see if anyone else was around.

I pulled her hand away from my mouth enough to speak. "There's no one else here but us. I work alone." Her eyes widened, shock and admiration swimming in those brown eyes.

"What do you mean you work here by yourself? You clean over 50 something stalls and feed all these creatures by yourself?!" I nodded my head, placing a hand on my hip and staring at her all the while. She took a step back and smiled at me.

"So what're you doing here? Who are you?"

"I'm here looking for you. Like I said, I wanted to help. Names aren't important right now. The information I have for you is. It could just save your life." She grabbed my hand and started pulling me to the door. "But we can't talk here. They have eyes and ears everywhere." With that being said, she marched her way over to my car, pulling me behind her. I was beginning to feel annoyed. I hated being bossed around. Rolling my eyes, I yanked my hand out of her grasp.

"I have one question, and I expect an answer before we get in my car." I looked over my shoulder, making sure that there wasn't anyone around that could see us. She sighed exasperated.

"What?" Her hand balled into a fist, placing it on her hip as she looked at me, bored. I rolled my eyes.

"How do you know I'm in trouble?" I mimicked her stance, my eyes turning into slits as I glared at her. She shook her head, face-palming with the palm of her hand.

"I promise I will explain everything to you, but we need to go before *they* find out I'm here. I'm a rogue, if I am found out to be on territorial land, I will be killed on spot, and I really don't feel like dying today if that's okay by you, *princess*?" Sarcasm ringing through her voice, enunciating the last word.

I grabbed my keys, still watching her closely, unlocking the doors. "Get in and keep low. I have to go lock up the barn and turn the lights out." She glared at me. "If someone didn't pull me out before I could finish my duties, I wouldn't be having to backtrack." I glared at her right back. She rolled her eyes, huffing as she opened my passenger door and slinked into the front seat. She ducked low enough to where I knew no one could see her. I turned and bolted to the barn, running through each lane, checking eat stall to make sure everyone was fine. I rushed up to Punch and Classic, throwing a couple sugar cubes in their food bowl.

"Sorry girls, but I have to rush out of here." They neighed, pawing the ground with their hooves. "I'll be alright girls," I stroked each of their faces. "I promise." Once I checked everything, locked up the food bins and turned the lights off, I rushed out the door and quickly locked it.

"Got a hot date?" Craigs voice low and directly behind me. I jumped and quickly turned around to face him, him throwing his hands up to either side of my face, caging me between him and the door.

"A-a-a-actually, y-y-yes I d-d-d-do." I stuttered, Craig slowly closing the distance between us. He raised an eyebrow at me, a menacing grin starting to form on his face.

"With who?" His eyes bore into me. His breath nearly touching my face. I stood straight up, eyeing him angrily.

"That's none of your damn business." His smirk grew larger.

"Oh, are you sure about that?" He leaned closer into me. I wanted to glance towards my truck, but I wasn't about to give him the satisfaction of finding the she-wolf in my truck. His breath hitting my lips. My body went rigid while I glared daggers at him.

"Back the fuck up Craig, or you'll be hurt." I growled lowly at him. My hands clenched into fists beside me, preparing to attack. I couldn't use my powers on him, or I'd be extremely fucked. Not everyone knows about Sabrina's and my families lineage. His eyes flickered with amusement.

"Are you threatening me?" He forced his body to push mine closer to the door, slowly grinding against me, his head leaning down towards my neck. I chanced a glance to the truck, the she-wolf about to jump out the door but I shook my head. I snaked one of my hands to hover over Craigs hair, slowly inching my fingers through his hair, I smirked. I grabbed a fistful of his hair and yanked his head backwards. A yelp of anger and confusion leaving his lips. I threw my other fist into his stomach and used my full body force to shove him away from me. He staggered backwards, keeling over, holding his stomach. "Bitch!" He seethed, straightening up, wincing slightly. My smirk grew.

"I warned you. Now, if you don't want the embarrassment of getting your ass handed to you by a female, move out of my fucking way." I slashed the space between us with my hand, making sure he knew where I stood. "Oh, and by the by Craig," I sauntered past him, waving my middle finger in the air facing towards him, "I have a boyfriend. Touch me again, and you won't have just me to deal with." I walked to the driver side of my truck, climbed in and started it. The engine roared to life as I threw it into drive and raced down the driveway, breathing a sigh of relief as I pulled up to the main road.
