Chapter Fifty-Two
*Crash*
We all stood there, listening to the crashing sound above. An eerie silence took over the room, everyone standing there listening closely. I looked to Mark, his eyes changing colors and it looked as if all the hair on his body was standing on edge. The room was beyond quiet. You could barely hear anyone breathing. The silence of the room was defeaning, not even a pin would make noise if it dropped. Sabrina grabbed my hand, forcing my gaze towards hers. We both shared a look as we looked toward Violet. She was shaking.
"They know I'm here. How the fuck do they know that?!" Her voice barely above a whisper. Fear evident on her face, her eyes bouncing around searching through the ceiling. Nathaniel walked up behind her, wrapping his arms around her, pulling her close to his body. I watched as her body visably relaxed, her eyes still showing the immense fear she was feeling. "Maybe they think I'm your prisoner or something and they came to get me. Gods, I hope that's the reason why."
"Sabrina, I think it's time to start making those rooms. Create one for them to rest in and the other rooms as training rooms. We have to make sure the women, children and elderly have a safe place for the time being. We can readjust after. I'm going to pull Violet to start working on a barrier to further protect this room, outside of the one we have. Think you can manage?" I look towards Sabrina, a smile emerging on her face.
"Think I can manage? Psh! That's child's play. Go create the barrier." She ushers away towards the back of the room, separating the women, children and elderly. I began walking towards Violet.
"Violet!" She glances up at me, as if reading my mind, nods towards me. Craning her neck and face up towards Nathaniel, she gives him a quick peck on the cheek before wiggling out of his arms. She joins me as we make our way over to the main entrance.
"Mark! James!" I holler at them. "Sabrina is creating the rooms that we need to keep the women, children and elderly safe. Violet and I are going to work on creating a stronger barrier to protect this room. Gather up the warriors and prepare them for battle. When we're all finished we'll be joining you."
"The hell you are!" Marks voice deep, his eyes still changing colors. I stop short of the entrance, turning towards him and place both hands on either side of his face.
"You need me. We don't know what we're going to face up there and we need to work together to fight them. We're the strongest of the Sorceresses you're going to have. Trust me, please Mark." Pleading with my eyes, I meet Mark's gaze. He struggles with the information and the direct tone I used. His shoulders sag a bit, admitting defeat, he nods. I kiss him quickly, rushing back over to Violet. Watching as Violet takes her stance, she starts working her way to morphing the barrier, probably adding her own sick, twisted idea's of protection along with it. I take my stance, focusing on the strength of the barrier and filling any gaps that may need to be filled.
Not even a couple minutes later, I finish my work. Turning towards Violet, she smiles at me and winks. I roll my eyes smiling at her. Only Violet. I make my way over to Mark, James and Nathaniel who have gathered all the warriors they can muster up. I glance towards the back, watching Sabrina do her thing. I feel a pang of jealousy course through me as I watch her. Knowing now that she is my cousin and we share the same bloodline, I still am somewhat jealous of her. She was able to start training early with her mom, my aunt. She escaped to her moms to be able to work harder to become stronger. She was able to start earlier than me. Never did I think that my best friend was actually family. Standing there staring at her and the work she was doing, I smiled. I may be weaker than she is, however; I never once tried to make it into a competition. If mom were still alive, who knows where we would be right now. I was grateful for the fact that I have been able to learn as much as I possibly could from my cousin, my best friend. I sigh, turning my gaze away from Sabrina and towards Mark, I can't help but hope that we'll all make it out of this alive. *'I miss you, mom.'*
"Alright." Sabrina breaks into the silence surrounding me. I look at her, a huge smile on her face. "Everything is completed. There are rooms based for specific magic types as Violet told us about. The barrier surrounding them is damn near unpenatrable."
"Thank's Sabrina."
"Hey." She grabs my arms before I have the chance to walk away. As if knowing what I was feeling, she hugs me. "I don't think you know how much it killed me to not be able to start training with you right away. I hated hiding this amazing secret from you, however; ever since what happened to Auntie, mom and dad made me promise not to tell you. I didn't want to not tell you. I know the jealousy you're feeling for me and I feel horrible that you're even feeling it, and I'm so sorry. But don't you worry, Morgan, we're going to make it back to our families. I promise."
"I hope you know I don't hate you Sabrina. I think you're amazing." I hugged her back with as much strength as I could. We pull away from each other, hand in hand, head towards our respective mates. I hear Mark talking to his warriors.
"We don't know how many are up there or how powerful these beings really are. Some are going to die, and as much as I would like to make that unavoidable, it's a great possibility. You are amazing, strong and powerful warriors and I trust you with my life. I will do my best and work as hard as I possibly can to make sure you all make it out alive. If you feel you are not ready for battle, please voice your concerns now. We are not going to hold it against you." I look towards the warriors. Each one of their faces showed stoicism and no fear. Each one kept quiet, awaiting their Alpha's orders. I was extremely impressed by the way Mark commanded his pack. They adored him, loved him, were even willing to lay their lives on the line for him. Meg and Mark were amazing Alpha's.
Speaking of Meg. I look around the room, scanning for her or Troy. I noticed that they were towards the back, redirecting the women, children and elderly towards the room. Troy noticed me looking. Smirking, he winked at me. I smiled back. He wrapped one arm around Meg's waist and kissed her cheek. Meg's face flamed red, before looking in my direction. She waved at me, smiling and then going back to redirecting the others into the room.
"Sabrina, did you make sure to leave boards near each of the rooms explaining what they were?" I asked her.
"Yup, and I also explained to Meg about them and also explained to the group that if anyone wants to attempt it, they're more than welcome to. All the women are planning on training in groups so that way there is someone keeping an eye on the children. The elderly, that want to train have their respected corners as well."
"So you basically thought about it all?"
"You bet!" She smiled at me.
"Good. Prepare for battle everyone!" I holler out to all of them. The warriors grunted a 'yes Luna' while everyone else started making a game plan for how to approach upstairs. I continue looking around, the ominous feeling continuing to get stronger as each second rolls by.
*'There's something bigger coming, and I don't know how we're going to be fully prepared for it. I hope we're ready.'*
