44 - is mine
As soon as Sebastian left Alan alone, the youngest Aller went through all the emotions like an overwhelming rush.
First bewilderment, slumping in his seat and holding his head.
"How could I have been so reckless?" He had never impregnated a woman before and that he had done so with untold numbers, always being cautious about it, knowing that these fortune-seeking women could take a share of his inheritance.
Then fear invaded him, he had never thought of being a father, the very idea of bringing a child into the world and having to take care of it simply made him nauseous.
Then he was overcome with blind rage, remembering that his brother had tried, even though he was sterile, every day to impregnate the one who was the love of his life. As much as he hated children, Katlyn having one with someone other than him was unforgivable.
And finally, with this last conclusion, a grotesque grin broke out on his face, realizing something that was obvious and had been right in front of his eyes all along. The joke of the clause had been just that, an attempt to keep teasing his brother, torturing him from the shadows, but now it was benefiting him.
That baby, that spawn, was his child whether he wanted it or not and he would have it at all costs, things were clearer now.
Helena looked at all her life piled up in that pile of old things and knew that she was not going to be able to take it anywhere, she was going to have to let go of the few memories she had of her father.
He began to walk aimlessly dragging the suitcase and the backpack on his back, he had no idea where to go, he had no one. He could call Carmen and beg her for sympathy for just a few days and then he would see what to do... yes, he would do that.
She pulled her cell phone out of her pocket and searched for the contact of the only person who had been kind to her all this time.
-Give me everything.
Helena lifted her face in confusion, finding a gun inches from her face. The redhead recoiled in fright, throwing her cell phone to the ground.
-I want you to give me everything!" shouted the thug, losing his patience and shaking the gun dangerously.
Helena froze in place, unable to stop looking at the gun, thinking that everything would be over from one moment to the next if by mistake that man pulled the trigger, her problems would be gone... But she would also leave her brother alone.
-Please... -he begged with his hands in front of his body- Don't do anything to me.
The thug snatched the suitcase from Helena's hands.
-There's nothing in it, it's just shoddy clothes," she pleaded unsuccessfully.
-Give me the bag," he ordered.
At that moment the former secretary's face suddenly turned pale, remembering that in her backpack was all the money from her savings.
-N-no," she said with trembling lips.
The man, much bigger than her and who was noticeably unstable, walked towards the frightened woman.
-I'm going to empty the whole magazine in your little body if you don't give me the backpack," he said, losing all patience and pulling the safety catch off the gun, making Helena jump in fright. Unconsciously she put her hands on her belly in a useless attempt to protect the child inside her, as if her maternal instinct had sent a signal to her brain, reminding her that there were two lives in danger.
With no other choice, wanting to protect that child and with the desire to stay alive just to not abandon her brother, she painfully removed the backpack from her back, handing it to the man, who quickly disappeared from the scene, leaving Helena even more helpless than before. The redhead looked at the ground, noticing that the man had left the cell phone behind. She looked around paranoid before picking it up.
She couldn't call Carmen, she didn't even have enough money for her basic needs, she couldn't force the woman to bear that burden, she had already done so much in her time. She dialed another number, she had no choice and she trusted that he would still be there for her after all.
-D-david- she sobbed, choking back tears- Are you at home?
Later that day, Alan arrived with his very thinly disguised vehicle at Helena's building, entering just as some people opened the door, hurrying to take the elevator before them. It had been easier than he expected. He just had to surprise the redhead at the door of her apartment. That woman couldn't refuse to let him take the place of father, whether he wanted to or not he had to accept it.
The very idea of imagining that after that night of lust with the little woman with flame hairs he could have created a creature ignited his insides in ways he had never imagined, now the woman belonged to him even more, she could never get away from him, she was his in every way.
He reached the door of the old apartment and knocked twice, filling himself with impatience. If the woman was not at home he would wait for her until she arrived, she was not going to slip through his fingers.
He heard footsteps approach the door and then it slowly opened.
Alan was about to pounce, rush into the house before Helena could react and throw him out, but he had to stop short when he saw a woman who wasn't his redhead at all and behind her an unfamiliar man.
-Excuse me, who are you? - he asked impatiently and with zero friendliness.
-Who are you?" the woman asked quizzically.
Alan regained his composure, that false expression that people found captivating.
-I apologize, I didn't introduce myself properly, I'm Alan Aller and I was coming to visit my friend Helena. Are you at home?
-There is no Helena here, this is our home.
-I'm pretty sure I'm at the right door.
-Perhaps you mean the woman who used to live here, the streetwalker," said the man behind me.
-Ah... Yes, there used to be a rather troublesome girl living in this apartment, but we bought it ourselves.
Alan clenched his fists tightly, digging his nails into his palms, trying to contain his anger and keep his face calm.
-I see... Could you tell me where to find her? -
-No, not really, we don't know anything about her.
Alan said no more, didn't even say thank you, and stormed out of there fuming. She had slipped through his fingers, but he would find her, no one was teasing Alan.
