54 - Stronger than ever
The faces of all the people contorted, some in an expression of surprise and others of terror.
It seemed as if they had seen a ghost, and so it was in part, because Helena had returned from the dead feeling stronger than ever.
The first time she had walked through the doors of INDUSTRIAS ALLER S.A., she had been like a wet puppy, trembling with fear and begging for a job.
Now he simply walked through the hall, chin up and gazing into the distance, ignoring the receptionist, as she didn't need to introduce herself, she was the presidential secretary.
She listened to the murmurs of the other employees, something she had hated before and one of the reasons she had decided to resign in the first place, now it was music to her ears, she laughed inside at them all, because they had tried to destroy her, but now she was back and stronger.
She entered the presidential elevator under the astonished gaze of all the observers, who did not understand what was going on.
She reached the top floor and walked down the corridor with determination, holding her new briefcase and shining brightly in her new fire-red two-piece suit, her white lapel shirt, her black low-heeled shoes and her high ponytail revealing her renewed face.
She was no longer that Helena sunk in misery who only had a change of clothes that she had to wash every night begging for them to dry to wear them again the next night, now she could buy whatever she wanted.
She reached her former desk, hovering a shadow in front of the secretary who had not yet noticed her presence. Helena knew her well, she was one of Katlyn's henchmen, who had done nothing to stop her from being hurt that night at the bar and every day at work.
-The redhead coughed, calling the attention of the presidential secretary, who jumped in fright, throwing aside her cell phone she had been concentrating on. "Good morning, welcome to Industrias Aller S.A. What are you..." The young woman stopped talking when she saw who was the woman who looked important and wealthy in front of her.
Again, that expression of having seen a ghost.
- You?
-Yes, me," she smiled broadly.
-What are you doing here?" she asked with contempt, "Have you come to beg for your job back? -As you'll see, it's mine now, so I recommend you go back where you came from, or I'll call security, bitch.
The woman lifted her legs up on the desk and began to file her nails with an air of grandeur.
Helena was about to say everything she had wanted to scream in the face of all those harpies if she had had the courage to do it before.
But she felt a presence behind her, and a shadow darkened the desk and the secretary.
-Sir!" exclaimed the girl, swinging her legs off the desk and settling herself properly into the seat, "Good morning," she smiled falsely, "You came earlier than expected today.
-Yes, I had a special meeting," he answered dryly and with the indifference he used to use with his employees.
Helena had not yet dared to look back, the low and seductive voice of her boss made her cheeks light up and her hands sweat.
She was both nervous and excited to be his secretary again.
-I was just about to call security," the girl exclaimed proudly.
-And why is that?" asked the CEO, who had overheard the whole conversation, amused.
-He smiled broadly, expecting his boss's complicity. But when she saw the young heir's face darken and clench his jaw tightly, as if containing a devastating anger, she stopped smiling, starting to sweat nervously.
-I should call security and have you thrown out on the street if you don't leave your post in ten minutes," he growled cruelly.
-Sir?" she asked in fright.
-But I suggest you take a box and clear the desk as soon as possible, we don't want a scandal, do we?" he ordered without waiting for an answer, "Miss Helena, come with me to my office, I must bring you up to date with the company's pending matters.
-Yes, sir," the redhead answered politely.
The CEO walked ahead of her towards the office. He wanted to give his new secretary a moment of glory.
Helena couldn't help but turn one last time to the girl who was looking at her as if she wanted to murder her right there.
-I really shouldn't feel sorry for you and everyone else, but I'm not like you. I wish you luck," she sentenced heading towards the presidential office with pride shining around her like a golden halo and a smile plastered on her face.
"So this is what it feels like to make you respected" he thought cheerfully. Everything seemed to be coming together for the better.
