53 - Your secretary
As the days passed inside the apartment, Helena knew that that illusion, that intimate and even magical moment in the doctor's office had been just that, a dream moment and nothing more.
After the ultrasound, Sebastian put her back in her new home while he went on with his life pretending that it had never happened.
A week of deep loneliness passed and Helena began to feel that she was going to lose her mind at any moment.
At first she thought that being isolated from people was what she really needed to begin to heal. But she had never been more wrong.
The sound of the silence of the apartment made her mind noisier, at night she could barely sleep and the long, painful baths became more recurrent, only this time she felt guilt about damaging her womb, leaving it untouched. There was a creature inside her, she had checked it on that monitor.
Did she really want to hurt it?
She didn't know anymore.
-How was the week?" the CEO asked as he entered the apartment without even knocking, which irritated Helena, making her feel that the place didn't really belong to her even though it said so in the contract.
The redhead didn't answer, concentrating on preparing her bland lunch, as she wasn't even in the mood for it.
The heir walked towards her in silence, waiting for an answer that never came.
-Is everything all right?
-You can't keep me locked up here as your prisoner," the young woman finally exclaimed with annoyance, without even looking up from the vegetables she was chopping.
-Helena, you know very well why I do it.
-Why?" she exclaimed, hitting a carrot with the knife, "So that your perfect life won't be stained by my presence, so that your shrew of a wife won't find out that I'm going to solve all her rich girl problems?
-Helena, listen...
-No, you listen to me," she interrupted him angrily, "I want my job as presidential secretary again.
-What?
-What you heard, I want my job back... -What?
-Helena, that's not going to happen," laughed the CEO nervously.
-Then I don't want to do this anymore.
Sebastian walked angrily to the redhead, taking the knife out of her hands and leaving it forcefully in the kitchen sink.
-I remind you that you signed a contract with me. - The young man warned her, feeling that he was losing patience and control of the situation. He had never felt so challenged as he did every time he met that woman, she really had him unsettled.
-Nowhere does it say that I can't go back to work or do what I want with my life.
Sebastian clenched his jaw tightly, trying with all his might to contain his desire for his ego to come out and overpower him.
-Would you rather I went to work in a sleazy place," the redhead threatened.
-I came all this way so we could have dinner together, to chat for a while, but I think I'd better go.
-Oh, I'm so sorry I ruined your plans," she exclaimed sarcastically.
-I can't talk to you properly," exclaimed Sebastian, turning around and heading for the exit.
-Yes, go away! Leave me alone for a month! And also lock the door so I rot in here," shouted the redhead and then heard a loud slamming of the door "AHHRG!
Sebastian stormed out of the building, holding the bags that he had not let go at any time, besides having bought for dinner, he had entered a children's store to buy what he thought could be a nice gift for the redhead.
An orange onesie for the baby.
He didn't know what he was thinking when he did it, Helena probably wasn't interested in anything to do with it, since she wasn't going to raise the baby.
Sometimes she did things just on impulse.
-Baby brother!
Sebastian would have wanted to run into anyone else at that moment, he would have even preferred to run into Katlyn and have to make the world's worst excuse as to why he was carrying baby clothes in his hands, but running into Alan was something he simply could not tolerate at that moment.
Sebastian simply ignored him, turning around and walking away from him, he had been about to throw the bags in the trash to no avail. Now he had the evidence in his hands, right in front of his gossipy brother's eyes.
-Ahhh, are we going to pretend we don't know each other from now on," exclaimed the younger Aller amused, following behind his older brother like a night stalker.
-Not a bad idea," he exclaimed contemptuously without even turning to look at him.
-By the way, what were you doing here? You are far away from your company and your department," he asked curiously, almost stepping on his heels.
Alan knew very well how to annoy and break his brother, he could see in his posture that he was about to explode. He had never had much patience.
-You don't care about that," he muttered.
-Did you come out of that building over there? Very nice by the way. Is it your new acquisition?
Sebastian picked up his pace, trying unsuccessfully to get away from his brother.
-What's in that bag?" he asked, grabbing the baby pink cardboard with the drawing of a teddy bear and tugging it towards him.
That made the CEO react, who forcefully pulled it to his side, causing the bag to break in the middle, making the little garment fall to the dirty street.
They both stood silently staring at the jumpsuit, until Sebastian reacted and picked it up from the ground.
-Oh please, Sebas, you know very well that you are not man enough to have an heir," the young man mocked.
-That's none of your business.
-Then the young Aller turned towards the luxury building, to turn again to the garment that his brother jealously guarded. To finally draw a quick conclusion. He had always been the more astute of the two- Don't tell me you fucked up. You got a hooker pregnant or something, little brother!
Sebastian turned red with anger, but that wasn't the worst of it. A fear began to rise inside him.
-Of course, you're going to impregnate a woman! You're so fucking impotent!
-One more word in public and I swear I'll make you forget your name is Alan," the elder Aller warned, almost bumping his nose against his brother's.
-Oh I'm sorry- said Alan raising his hands in peace- No one needs to know that the heir to Aller Industries is not a complete man.
-Don't you have anything better to do than make my life miserable?
-I know I said it was best to distance ourselves," he pouted, "But annoying you is becoming a sport.
-That's why dad never chose you as heir, you're a capricious little boy," the CEO spat and then turned around and left quickly.
Alan was red with anger, he would have thrown himself on the floor to kick and cry if only he hadn't been an adult.
His brother was hiding something, that was obvious. The youngest Aller simply could not wait for the year of the contract to be fulfilled to destroy his brother, he had to do it on his own.
Sebastian ran to his vehicle which was in a parking lot, locking himself in and finally breathing after holding his breath during the escape.
The CEO began to hyperventilate, feeling terrified that his brother had discovered him. He couldn't leave Helena alone, not while he was away from her, he didn't know what the psychopathic Alan was capable of.
She felt that she knew him less and less, and that evil and merciless look he had the only thing that generated in her was an unknown terror that made her think that she would not stop until she saw him dead.
Like a frightened child, the eldest of the brothers waited more than an hour inside the vehicle, fearing that Alan was still roaming the area. Not because he was afraid of him, but because he feared he would follow his footsteps to the building, he had to be cautious.
Night fell when he finally got out of his car and walked hurriedly to the apartment. He had to talk to Helena as soon as possible.
-What are you doing?" the redhead exclaimed in fright when Sebastian burst in, looking around paranoid.
-I called you when you were with David, you have my phone number on record, are you going to do it?
-Yes..." she answered confused, "but what's wrong? You're scaring me...
Sebastian watched her for the first time since he had entered, she was hugging herself and had a terrified expression.
He couldn't scare her, he had to show that everything was under control.
The CEO sighed before saying
-Listen Hele... I'm sorry about earlier, it's just that I wanted to protect you and....
-You can't keep me locked up for fear that something will happen to me Sebastian, that's not the way things are.
-Yes I know," he exclaimed embarrassed, "Tomorrow you'll be my secretary again.
-Is it serious?" she asked excitedly.
Sebastian didn't know if he was doing the right thing, but at least this way he could keep an eye on her.
-Yes, but please don't say anything about all this, Katlyn usually hangs around the company.
-Yes... of course," he exclaimed weakly, feeling a little jealous of the blonde.
-The relationship between us will only be professional outside this department, okay?
Helena felt she was talking to her lover, who had to keep up appearances in public. The very idea involuntarily flushed her cheeks.
-Yes, Mr. Aller.
