70 - Broken heart and a lie
Sebastian started quickly with his car, breaking the speed limit, and not only because he wanted to get there as soon as possible to corroborate that Katlyn was okay, but because he wanted to get it over with quickly, to get back to Helena before she woke up. He hadn't had time to leave her a note, it hadn't even crossed his mind, but he'd have time to explain.
He slammed the door to the mansion, expecting to find on the floor of the hall the worst scene, Katlyn passed out or worse, dead. But she was nowhere to be seen.
-Love?" he asked and his voice echoed through the large mansion, there seemed to be no sign of her.
He looked around, everything seemed to be in its place, there was no sign of forced entry or the theft of any of the valuable decorative objects.
-Katlyn? Are you all right?" he asked, starting to get really worried.
"What if she had been kidnapped?" He couldn't rule that out, he was an important man, who could be loved by many, but also hated by others, the truth was that the CEO was surprised that so far no one had tried to harm him in any way.
He ran upstairs, feeling his heart in his throat, before calling the police he wanted to verify that Katlyn was not on the second floor.
-Katlyn! If this is a joke, please stop!
-Honey!" she shouted and made the millionaire turn sharply, who looked for the voice in all the closed doors -I'm in our room!
In a second, Sebastian closed the distance, kicking the door open and with clenched fists ready to fight if necessary. But he slowly lowered his arms when he found no crooks. In the room, sitting on the bed, was Katlyn smiling.
The CEO was confused, he looked at her quickly, scanning her, she didn't seem to be hurt.
-What happened? What was the urgency," he asked, his voice trembling with tension.
-Oh Sebi," shrieked the blonde, getting up and hanging on his neck, making dead weight on the young man, who had to hold her so they wouldn't both fall to the ground.
-What happened? Are you hurt? I came as fast as I could.
-Sebi..." she murmured and raised her face, which was now full of tears, but a smile was on her face.
-I don't understand anything honey, if you don't tell me as soon as possible what's going on I'm going to have a fit.
Katlyn laughed in amusement and ran to the bathroom.
-Wait here!
Sebastian listened, as he rested his hand on his heart, he felt it pounding, he had thought of a thousand scenarios and one of the worst was Katlyn yelling at him that she knew everything, that she knew about Helena, but seeing her so smiling there was no way she would know.
The blonde returned to the room with her hands behind her back, as if she was hiding something.
-I have a surprise for you, my love, something that will make you very happy.
-What is it?" she asked, swallowing the urge to scream at him because it made her think that something serious was going on, "Honey, you almost killed me with a heart attack.
-Quiet, honey, when I show you this maybe you will," he said jokingly, "Close your eyes and open your palms.
Sebastian obeyed, anything to get this over with as soon as possible.
He felt that something lightly rested on his palms.
-You can open your eyes now," exclaimed the blonde.
-What is...?
Sebastian lowered his black eyes to the object in his hands.
If the bed had not been behind him, he would have fainted against the hard floor. Slowly he sat up on the mattress, feeling all the colors drain from his face and a tremor appear in his hands.
Thousands of questions came into his head, but none gave him a coherent answer, only making him sicker and sicker.
-We are going to be parents!- shouted with happiness the blonde, throwing herself beside him and hugging him with emotion- We have been looking for it for so long and finally we have achieved it my love, I didn't want to tell you before because I was afraid of losing him, but now that I am three months pregnant I can be sure that the baby is well and....
-What is this Katlyn," he interrupted her still in shock.
Katlyn laughed in amusement
-The silly pregnancy test.
-No Katlyn no ....
-What? What's wrong? Aren't you happy?
-How can I be if you're giving me the proof of your betrayal in my hands!" she shouted loudly, scaring the blonde.
-What? What are you talking about, my love," she said nervously, "I'm only yours, sweetheart.
Sebastian denied with force while he squeezed the proof that sentenced Katlyn's pregnancy.
-No Katlyn, I can't have children.
-What are you saying Sebastian," she exclaimed in panic.
-I am sterile.
Katlyn was speechless, feeling her whole world falling apart, how all her lies would go down the drain if she didn't act now.
-Sebi..." she said softly, approaching her husband, who was now clutching his head in his hands, "What if it's not true? What if it was a medical mistake?
-I did it myself, years ago- she admitted knowing that she couldn't hide it anymore.
The blonde walked away dumbfounded.
Had he been lying to her all this time?
Had they tried tirelessly to the point of frustration, but he already knew it would never happen?
The young woman felt anger invade her, but no, she had to keep her composure, not to get nervous, not to let herself be won over.
-Honey..." she said softly, "Didn't you think that maybe they did it wrong? That can happen...
-What are you talking about?" he said, raising his gaze to the blonde.
-That kind of procedures can fail sometimes- she exclaimed confidently- Believe me my love, I didn't cheat on you.
Sebastian looked at her silently, as if searching for the truth in Katlyn's face.
-Then if you are so sure, we should get tested.
-It pains me to be asked that, but if you want to feel sure, then let's do it," she exclaimed confidently, knowing that if the child was Alan's, there would be enough of a match.
Sebastian felt he would die.
So this child was his?
Not only would his plans to separate from Katlyn go out the window if it really was, but now he would have a son, a child he had always feared creating.
Panic washed over him.
"No...I don't want to be like my father."
-Let's go right now and get it done honey- she said softly- That way we get this over with as soon as possible and get busy with our new life- she said excitedly.
The CEO could not refuse, if he left at that moment and left her alone and pregnant, he would be even worse than his father.
-Okay," he answered obediently.
Helena moaned softly, waking up little by little. She smiled still with her eyes closed, remembering little by little what had happened last night, how she had given herself completely to that man who swore to love her.
She stretched her arm across the bed, trying to embrace her lover, but to her surprise the place was empty. And cold.
She slowly opened her eyes, getting used to the daylight, and looked at the bed, Sebastian wasn't there.
-Had he gotten up before her?
She looked at the time on her phone, realizing it wasn't that late, plus it wasn't a weekday, so he wouldn't have gone to work.
She got out of bed quizzically, still a little sleepy, and headed for the bathroom.
Also empty.
Desperate and with her heart in her mouth she ran to the living room, empty, the dining room, empty, and finally the kitchen, because maybe he was preparing breakfast for her, but he wasn't there either.
She ran with tears streaming down her face to the coat rack, where Sebastian had left his overcoat.
It was nowhere to be found.
And in the tray of keys, his car keys were missing.
Helena, now heartbroken, slowly slid down the wall, falling to the floor.
How could I have been so naïve, she sobbed, realizing that she had given herself to that man, she had begged him to make love to her, to come inside her, she had given her most precious thing to Sebastian, the thing she had guarded with suspicion since they had broken up.
He had succeeded and now she had no more use for him.
He had abandoned her.
