47 - A monster
-Let go of me! Put me down now!" the redhead shrieked, kicking at Sebastian's strong shoulder, who ignored her and entered the elevator with Helena on his back, for him she was like a featherweight, that woman weighed nothing.
-Not until we get in the car.
-Are you crazy? This is a kidnapping! -Help!
-Yell whatever you want, you drunkard. I doubt anyone would dare to challenge me.
-You think you're a big shot, huh? -She tried to annoy him.
After that the redhead kept babbling insults and incoherent things that the CEO preferred to ignore.
When they got to the car he put her in the back seat, placing the seat belt as if it were an oppressive rope and closing the door with the child safety so she wouldn't escape.
-Where are you taking me? To your pervert's dungeon? - he asked sarcastically, although inside he wished it wasn't true.
-You wish- sentenced with annoyance the heir, starting to drive away from there, feeling the stabbing pain in the knuckles of his right hand, which reminded him of what he had done just a few moments ago.
The CEO had the scene almost blurred, he remembered entering David's apartment kicking the door hard, then running following Helena's moans, encountering the scene that blinded him with rage. David on top of Helena struggling with her as his secretary pleaded for him to get away. After that he saw only red, until the young woman's voice brought him back to himself.
Sebastian knew he had an anger problem, one he had feared all his life and hated about himself. What he hated about being an Aller.
Ashamed he drove silently to his pent-house, wishing he could somehow make up for his mistakes and that Helena would never see him as a bloodthirsty beast again.
-We're here," the young CEO indicated a little uncomfortably, locking the door behind him.
Helena said nothing, looking around the large apartment as she could barely stand.
-She couldn't finish the sentence because she had to run to the bathroom, lucky that the first door she opened was the bathroom.
Sebastian ran after her, finding the redhead throwing back all the alcohol in the toilet.
He quickly grabbed her long tangled hair in his firm hands and pulled her away from his former secretary's face.
-That... long all of it," he said relieved.
The redhead emptied her stomach to bile and began to sob sliding to the floor and hugging the toilet as if she were a loved one.
Sebastian watched the scene uncomfortably, transfixed and not knowing how to react, he had never been very good with displays of affection, he had never been taught how it was done.
Slowly he sat down on the floor, and unsteadily moved his hand closer to the redhead's thin, bony back. He could feel the line of her spine and the mountains of her ribs, wondering when she had last eaten.
He patted uncomfortably, as if Helena were a pet.
-Ya...ya...-he said looking all around, as if there were onlookers in the room mocking him and his vulnerability- It's going to be all right.
-I'm tired of being told it's going to be all right," he shrieked with his face hidden between his arms resting on the toilet, "It's getting worse and worse, besides... I'm a monster!
-You're not," he exclaimed indignantly. If there was one thing he was sure of, it was that everyone was a monster, even him, but not her.
-I was out of my mind. I was thrown out of my job and then out of my house..." she sobbed, her voice breaking, "then a crook stole all my savings. Suddenly I was left with nothing.
Sebastian bit his lower lip and restrained himself from bursting into tears at that moment. The very idea of imagining Helena helpless, full of fear and alone in the street filled him with impotence.
He had been waiting all week comfortably, inside his luxurious penthouse, for Helena to arrive with the money for the debt. While the young woman was having a terrible time.
-And...and...then," the redhead continued, pulling the CEO out of his thoughts, "I went to David's and....
-That sick..." she growled, clenching her jaw tightly.
-N-no. I'm the sick one.
-Helena didn't...
-Yes...- he exclaimed hiccupping- I am the monster, I drank almost the whole bottle... I just wanted to forget about everything... and the baby...-
Sebastian swallowed hard, feeling a hole in his heart.
-Hele... Who is the father? Please tell me... Is it David? - Helena didn't answer, she only babbled incoherently- Hele... Who made those videos? Who filmed you like that? What did they do to you?
Helena began to tremble harder and harder, as if every word of her ex-boss was sticking in her skin like needles.
-I want to wake up... it's a nightmare..." she stammered.
Sebastian sighed resignedly, he wouldn't get a coherent word out with Helena in that state.
-Come...
Sebastian got up from the floor, taking her arms very carefully, as if he was afraid of breaking her....
-Let's get out of the bathroom.
Helena didn't put up any resistance, she had released all the alcohol in her stomach, so much of it was already running through her blood. She felt weak, exhausted, like an old doll. He let himself be carried by the CEO out of the bathroom and led her to the bed, laying her down on the comforter.
Sebastian stared silently at the thin, emaciated body of his former secretary.
How had it come to this?
He shouldn't have gone on his honeymoon, shouldn't have left her alone.
The redhead's blouse lifted a little as she squirmed on the bed, revealing a slightly swollen belly.
Slowly the young man moved his hand closer, feeling an itch in his fingertips, wanting to rest his hand on the smooth skin of her belly. How would it feel to put his hand there? Would he feel any movement? Would he feel like a father? But instead of abusing the young woman's vulnerability, he simply took the blouse and covered the bare skin again.
He was about to leave the room, leaving Helena to rest, tomorrow would be another day and they could talk about what to do after all this, for the moment she should rest and get better.
He got up slowly so as not to startle her, when he felt the young woman's small hand take hold of the fabric of his shirt, tugging weakly at it.
Sebastian turned, finding that Helena was awake, trying with all his might to open her wet eyes, still red from the alcohol.
-Don't go, please..." she begged, her voice breaking.
-You won't want me to stay, believe me," he exclaimed hurt at his own words, but it was true. He didn't deserve to take care of her, he knew that tomorrow he would hate being near her again.
-Stay," she sobbed.
The CEO sighed, he couldn't say no to that woman, not to her. Slowly he slid onto the bed, sitting down next to the redhead.
-I'm going to stay here until you fall asleep, okay?
Helena nodded, but what the heir didn't expect was to be hugged and pulled against the mattress.
The alcohol, which had the young woman's senses distorted, made her not hesitate for a second to curl up against Sebastian's beefy body, which for her at that moment meant protection and shelter. She rested her reddened face from crying so much against the chest of her former boss and felt his exquisite aroma that she always carried with her, calming her mind and slowly falling into a deep sleep.
Sebastian remained stiff as a board in a way, barely breathing, staring at the ceiling, feeling how his cheeks were slowly heating up and not only because of the heat emanating from the body that was glued against his, but because of all the emotions that were exploding like fireworks inside him.
