CHAPTER 21
CHRIS' POV:-
As I had planned, I proposed Cassie at Iris'wedding. Cassie was very happy. My father announced our wedding a month later. Cassie and I moved together in our house. I wanted her to feel happinesses around her. She was still scared of everything she had faced, but she was getting better. She started to ignore people's eyes and questions. Mr Wolf was still trying hard to convince her to stand for herself, but she never liked to talk about Hendrick. She was still afraid of him. Knowing that Sam had already confessed his crimes, Scott was finally able to get a warrant for Hendrick Black. But he was nowhere to be found. Scott told us not to leave Cassie alone. He thought Hendrick could try something again.
Everyone was happy and were busy planning our wedding. Iris cancelled her honeymoon saying "she can't leave her best friend alone." I literally rolled my eyes over her statement. Cassie decided to stay at my parents Villa and I let her. She and Iris had plans for shopping. I didn't mind at all. But I did miss Cassie's warmth.
I opened my eyes in the morning and jumped off of my bed. I went into the bathroom and sat by the toilet. I threw up. I saw blood. There was blood on my vomit. It wasn't normal and I knew it. It had been happening for a few days. I decided to visit the doctor. I didn't eat anything. I felt like I would throw up again. I called one of my friends who was a doctor and fixed an appointment with him.
I was sitting in the waiting area, waiting for my turn. I was getting nervous. I didn't know but I was feeling something wrong. One of the nurses came and called my name. I stood up and stepped into the doctor's room. Jason Rick, he and I were together in our highschool. As I stepped into his room, he stood up and came to me. We shared a bro hug then I sat on one of the chairs and he sat on his chair.
Jason: So, how are you? What brought you to my office today?
He asked suspiciously. Jason and I were very good friends. We visited each other very often. But I never visited him in the hospital.
Chris: I wasn't feeling good. I thought it's better to see a doctor.
I replied casually.
Jason: What's wrong? Tell me everything.
He asked me.
Chris: I am suffering from food poisoning. It has been happening since last week. I can't digest anything. Everytime I eat, I end up throwing up. But today, it was different. I had blood in my vomit today.
I replied. He patiently listened to me then wrote something on the prescription paper.
Jason: I am writing a few tests. You better go to the laboratory and get these tests done soon. Come back to me when you have the results. And eat more vegetables.
He said and handed me the prescription paper. stood up, bid my goodbye and stepped out of his room. I went to the hospital's laboratory and showed them the paper. They took my blood samples and did some ultrasounds. They told me to come back after three days. I stepped out of the lab and went back home. On my way home, my mother called me to join the family dinner. I turned my car towards my parent's Villa. I parked my car and went into the villa. Cassie jumped on me and kissed me. I broke the kiss and pinched her cheek playfully.
Chris: Somebody missed me.
I said with a grin.
Cassie: Of course I have missed you.
She replied. I scooped her up in my arms and carried her bridal style. I took her to my room which was still empty for me. I laid her on the bed carefully then pinned her on the bed. I saw a frown on her face.
Chris: What's wrong Candy?
I asked suspiciously.
Cassie: Since when you have gotten these eye bags. You look tired Chris. Is everything okay?
She asked me in a worried tone. I pecked her lips and she smiled.
Chris: I am fine, don't worry too much about me. Tell me, how was your shopping?
I asked and changed the topic.
Cassie: Don't ask me. Your sister would kill me one day in a shopping mall. She took me to 3 shopping malls for just a pair of earrings. Can you imagine?
She replied in an annoyed tone and I chuckled.
Chris: Don't worry, I'll take you shopping from now on.
I said and pecked her cheek. She opened her arms for me and I laid upon her. She tightly wrapped her arms around me and I inhaled her sweet vanilla scent deeply. I had missed her too.
Cassie: You know, if there is anything you want to talk about, I am here to listen.
She whispered in my ear.
Chris: I know Cassie. Don't worry.
I replied and kissed her sweet spot. She moaned softly then giggled. We spent the rest of our day together in bed. Talking with each other. Cuddling, kissing each other. Soon Iris came to call us for dinner. We went downstairs and took our seats. My stomach growled as I smelled butter chicken. I hadn't had anything throughout the day. However, I wasn't able to eat much. My mother and Cassie got worried. I lied to them saying I had pizza for lunch. After the dinner, we bid our goodbyes and I took Cassie back to our house. As soon as we stepped into our house, I grabbed her hand and took her to our bedroom. We both did our night business, changed into our comfy PJs and cuddled together. I pulled Cassie on top of me and wrapped my arms around her waist. I kissed the top of her head and we both drifted off in each other's arms.
I was sitting in Jason's office. He was reading my test results. I was very nervous. In those three days, I hadn't thrown up a lot. But every time I threw up, I saw blood. I started to have stomach pains. I didn't know what was going on with me, but I was sure, it wasn't good.
Jason: I have texted you to come with your sister or your fiance.
He asked me and shut the file.
Chris: Yeah, but I am comfortable alone. I just want to know what's wrong with me.
I replied.
Jason: Christopher, everything you had told me about your health and all. And with these test results. You have stomach cancer.
He said and I stood up in shock.
Chris: What are you talking about?
I asked.
Jason: Sit down Chris. It's not that bad. You still have time to get it out of your system. You are very lucky because we caught it early.
He said.
Chris: But still it is cancer.
I asked.
Jason: Christopher, you need to trust me. I will get it out soon. I am giving you some more tests. As soon as I get the results, I will give you a date for your surgery. We will get rid of it soon.
He replied and gave me the prescription paper. I took it and went to the laboratory. Hearing Jason, that I had cancer. I felt like I would die soon. I didn't know why, but I was feeling that way. As I exited the hospital, I texted Cassie.
Chris: I think we should take a break. Or maybe we should separate our ways. Because I think Mom was right. We would never work together.
