CHAPTER 39
CASSIE'S POV:-
David Wolf: I thought I heard that you were missing me, sunshine?
I froze as I heard my father's voice. I turned around to confirm if my mind was not playing any games with me. It was really him. My father was finally in Scotland.
Seeing him, I hopped off of my chair and ran towards him. I squealed in happiness and jumped on my father. As always, I wrapped my arms and legs around him and hugged him tightly. He also wrapped an arm of his around me and with the other, he was rubbing my back.
David Wolf: Only God knows how much I had missed you, sunshine. How are you, my baby?
He asked me in a worry laced tone. I broke the hug and he also put me down.
Cassie: I am fine, dad. I just missed you a lot.
I replied and he pecked my forehead. Chris came close and dad pulled him in a fatherly hug. Norie came in with a wide smile on her face. Her father in law, Mr Charles Rutherford was standing beside her. He pulled her towards the dining table and they invited us to join as well.
After a happy breakfast, dad went away as he had some things to take care of. Dad said they would be taking Hendrick in another flight. He said Chris told him everything I did and how I was ready to fight for myself. Dad said he did not want my courage to go down. That was why Detective Dean came here with dad to take Hendrick Black back to America. While Chris, I and dad would be going in Hunt's private plane.
Once we were done with packing our stuff, Norie came to ask if we needed anything. I just hugged her and thanked her for everything she had done for us. Even after everything she had already done, she still said she would take us to the airport. She said she would not be worried if she would take us by herself.
We bid our goodbyes and stepped into the private plane. Chris busied himself with piles of work he had. Because of the honeymoon and to give all his attention to me, he did not touch his work at all. He took my father's presence as an advantage and to get his work done.
As the plane was up high in the sky, dad pulled me onto his lap and I wrapped my arms around him. I just wanted to sleep onto his lap. I felt safe with him. It's a relationship between a father and a daughter. A father is made to be a shield for his daughter. At least, my father was a shield for me.
David Wolf: You were on your honeymoon and you were missing your father. You are crazy sunshine.
He whispered into my ear and I giggled. I looked up at him and pecked his cheek.
Cassie: A daughter can forget anything but her father. I love Chris because I see your shadow in him. The same shadow that has been protecting me ever since I was born.
I replied and a tear escaped his eye. I wiped his tears and he tightened his hold around me.
David Wolf: I will protect you, No Matter What.
He replied and rocked me back and forth onto his lap like I was a baby for him. Well, that was true. My dad always thought of me as the same tiny baby I used to be.
Cassie: You pamper me like a baby. What will happen when I will get kids of my own? What will you do to them?
I asked him and he chuckled hearing my question.
David Wolf: I will make them spoiled brats. And will keep them with me, so you will not scold them.
He replied and I giggled shyly. My eyes started feeling heavy as he started rubbing my back as always.
David Wolf: Close your eyes, sunshine. You need rest. I will wake you up before landing.
He whispered into my ear and I nodded my head. Snuggling into his chest, I closed my eyes and drifted off.
I opened my eyes again and looked around. I was not in the plane anymore. I was into our bedroom in Hunt's mansion. I tried to sit up on the bed but my head felt heavy. I laid back down and tried to call Chris. My throat was dry. I was not feeling well. Chris stepped out of the bathroom and sat beside me, on the bed.
Chris: Do you need something? How are you feeling?
He asked me and I just shook my head.
Cassie: Water…
That was all I was able to say. I started coughing hard due to the dry throat. He quickly filled a glass and helped me up. He made me drink water. As the cold content slipped down to my throat, I started to feel a bit better.
Chris: You want more?
He asked me and I nodded my head. He filled the glass with cold water again and helped me drink it. As I emptied the second glass, I was fully awake.
Cassie: Where is dad? Why did you not wake me up?
I asked him with a pout and he chuckled. He set the glass on the bedside table and wrapped his arms around me. He kissed the top of my head lovingly as his arms were tightly wrapped around me.
Chris: Your father and I tried to wake you up but you were in deep sleep. Like you were sleeping after days. I told him not to wake you up. And your father went to get all the paperwork done. We are soon taking a step ahead to punish Hendrick Black for whatever he had done to you.
Chris replied and I just nodded my head. I looked up at him and smiled as I saw a worried look on his face. He was worried that I was forcing myself to do everything to get Hendrick behind the bars. To be honest, I was forcing myself at some point. But I was thinking everything Norie had said to me. She was right. No matter how much I would try to run away, he would always find a way to hurt me. So it was for the best to fight him and put an end to the terror he had built inside my head. I knew I had so many people standing in front of me, to protect me. Then why would I be scared of Hendrick. She was right, he is just a human being, like I am. I stretched my neck a bit and pecked his lips.
Cassie: I am fine, Chris. I can do this. I am not alone. You are with me. Dad is with me. Your whole family is with me. My friends are with me. So why should I be worried. I can do this. I can fight him.
I replied and he nodded his head. He pecked my forehead and stood up. He carried me bridal style and stepped out of the room. He took me downstairs where everyone was waiting for me. The dining table was set and it had three of my favorite dishes. I excitedly jumped into Chris' arms and he chuckled. He set me down and I ran towards Stella. Like always, she pulled me into a motherly hug. I broke the hug and sat down on a chair. Stella sat beside me and fed me by her own hands. I enjoyed my dinner with a loving family I had gotten.
