CHAPTER 34

CASSIE'S POV:-

Unknown woman: You are safe now, Mrs Hunt. Soon, Harris will be here. He will take you to your husband. You are safe now. But what about tomorrow or the day after tomorrow? Have you ever thought about why he attempted to abduct you again?

She asked me and I shook my head with teary eyes.

Unknown woman: It's because he knows that you are afraid of him.

She replied and I looked at her with my mouth agape. I didn't know how she learned all that about me. Maybe my dad told her.

Cassie: Did my dad tell you about this? How do you know that?

I asked the unknown woman in a confused tone. She gave me a small smile.

Unknown woman: It was evident. Your eyes were screaming that you are afraid of him. I can still see that fear in your eyes. My question is, why fear him? Who is he to fear?

Hearing her question, a sob escaped my lips. Tears filled in my eyes and I narrowed my eyes.

Cassie: Have you ever felt like the sand is slipping through your fingers? Like you are trying hard to hold it on but it always slips off of your hands. That's what I felt for about ten months while I was abducted by him last time. What I did not know, he was controlling my life for years. He first gave me dreams then snatched them away.

I replied in a shaky voice. She rubbed my back and pulled me in a sisterly hug.

Hendrick Black: And I will do that again. You think tying me with these pieces of shit would protect you. I will soon be out of these and then I will do whatever I want.

We heard Hendrick Black roaring from the other side of the factory. Hearing him, I started shivering. As for the unknown woman, hearing his clams, she started laughing hysterically like Hendrick had cracked a joke.

Unknown woman: We will see that. Anyways Mrs Hunt, as we were talking. I will tell you something my dad had told me a long time ago. I can still remember, it was my fourth birthday. My father came back home from his work. He was a little late. Actually, he was too late. He missed my birthday party. He was a police officer.

She started telling me a story and I wiped my tears.

Cassie: What happened then?

I asked.

Unknown woman: I was so angry with my dad that I didn't even have dinner. I did not open my gifts. Hell, I did not even enjoy my own birthday party. To cheer me up, my mom asked for a magician for a magical show. The magician came and he kinda took my teddy bear I loved. I got scared and ran up to my bedroom. Those were the reasons why I didn't enjoy my own birthday party.

She replied and I chuckled.

Unknown woman: My dad came back home. He was the only one who made me open the door of my bedroom. He came in and apologized for being late to my birthday party. I was angry at him, but I was more afraid of the magician that I actually forgot about my anger towards my father. He came to me and laid on the bed beside me. I quickly hugged him tightly. I think all the girls in this world feel safe when we are with our fathers.

She added and I nodded my head.

Cassie: Then what happened?

I asked her curiously.

Unknown woman: Then, he told me something that is still patched on my heart.

She replied with a wide smile on her face.

Cassie: What was that?

I asked her again.

Unknown woman: He first explained to me why he could not make it to my birthday party. Then I told him about the magician. He smiled and gave me my teddy. He said, sweetie, you should not be the one to fear people. Instead, you have to be a living nightmare for all the bad people out there. He said, you should not be afraid of anyone. Everyone is a human like you are. So you shouldn't be afraid of the people who will try to scare you, instead, you have to scare them away. He gave me a quote, Mercy for the oppressor is oppression to the oppressed. That quote patched up on my heart that day. And I still keep that in my mind wherever I step out of my house for my job.

She replied and I smiled. She really did something to me. That quote was like… a shield. Something that would give power to fight. Power to stand up. Power to be able to take what was mine. Power to fight till my happinesses would be secured.

Hendrick Black: You think you can undo whatever I have done with her. She will fear me till the day she will die.

Hendrick Black said from behind and chuckled like he had said the most obvious thing. The unknown woman hopped off of the table and I did the same after her. She went towards him and I followed her behind. She raised her hand to slap him hard on his face. But before her hand could reach Hendrick's face, he was already on the ground, groaning in pain. Before that unknown woman could slap him, I kicked his balls hard enough to make him lick the ground.

Cassie: Nobody asked your opinion. Keep your mouth shut.

I yelled at him angrily. I then knelt down beside him and grabbed a fist full of his hair. He groaned in pain as I pulled his hair abruptly.

Cassie: She is right. You are strong because I did not do anything against you. Chris was right, if you did it again with someone I would be the first one to blame because I did not take any action against you. Who are you? Why should I be afraid of you? She is right, you are just a human.

I said and let go of his hair.

Unknown male voice: Well, well, well… Beautiful ladies, are you okay?

Unknown woman smiled as we heard a masculine voice. We turned around and found a man standing at the entrance with a few police officers behind him. The officers came in and arrested Hendrick Black.

Unknown Man: Are you okay, Mrs Hunt?

He asked me and I nodded my head.

Cassie: I am fine. Thank you.

I replied to that unknown man then I turned to look at her again. I grabbed both of her hands and gave her a hopeful smile.

Unknown woman: Your father is a brave man, Mrs Hunt. Just stand up for yourself. I know he will do everything in his power to throw Hendrick Black behind the bars. All you have to do is to stand up for yourself.

She motivated me and I nodded my head with a wide smile.

Cassie: I promise, I will not hide in the darks anymore. I will do whatever is needed to be done. I will stand up for myself so the court would punish Hendrick. I will not back away, not anymore.

I replied with a wide smile. She pulled me in a sisterly hug and rubbed my back.
No Matter What.
