CHAPTER 31

CHRIS' POV:-

Agent Wolf: Let me see what I can do. I have someone in Perth who can help you. I will try to reach them. Till then, you should just wait there. I will get back to you as soon as I can. And I will try to be by your side. I can not promise that because we don't know if I will get any flights.

Agent Wolf replied. I sighed and sat on the couch near me.

Chris: I will be waiting for your response.

I said and hung up. I knew I could not do much. So I did as agent Wolf had told me to do. The wait was long and it was nowhere to end. I was walking back and forth. I just did not understand anything. I did not know how could anyone abduct my wife. I did not even know how the hell it happened. I was eagerly waiting for agent Wolf to get back to me. I was checking my phone after every five minutes. I just wanted to know that she was fine. I was praying that it would be just a misunderstanding. She would come back home safely. But somewhere deep inside me, I knew something was more than just wrong.

As an hour passed I went back to our bedroom to change my clothes. I took a quick shower and changed my clothes. I brushed my teeth and stepped out of the bathroom. I grabbed my mobile and my wallet from the bedside table. I stuffed them both into my jacket pocket. I then looked for the car keys. To my surprise, the cat keys were gone. I looked everywhere into the room but the keys were not there at all. I stepped out of the bedroom and ran towards the main door of the rent house. I stepped out of the house and looked around.

Then I saw something I had not noticed at all. The garage door was pulled up. I went to the garage and looked around. There, on the ground I found the car keys and her bag as well. Her phone was on the ground as well. It's screen was fully destroyed, like someone crushed it under their feet on purpose.

A woman's voice: What had happened here, Mr Hunt?

I heard a voice of a woman from behind. I stood up and turned to look at her. I frowned my brows because I had never seen that face in my life before.

Chris: I am sorry, ma'am. Do I know you?

I asked her in a confused tone. She smiled and shook her head. That made me wonder who she was and what she exactly was doing at our rent house?

Unknown woman: My name is Mrs Norie Rutherford. You don't know me but I kinda know you somehow. Let's go inside and talk. We can not talk out here. Trust me.

She said and I frowned. But of course, I was not an ill-mannered person. I nodded my head and we walked towards the door. I opened the door and invited her in. My mind was only with my wife but I could not just keep a woman standing at the door. It was not something a man of Hunt's family would do. I offered her a glass of water. She thanked me and downed it's content in one go.

Chris: Pardon me if you mind, but I am kinda in a hurry Mrs Rutherford.

I said as soon as she set the glass on the table.

Mrs Rutherford: I know why you are in a hurry, Mr Hunt. I am here to help you. I am a senior investigation officer of Scotland Yard. Agent Wolf had sent me here.

She replied with a small smile on her face. I nodded my head.

Chris: How do you know, Mr Wolf? If I may ask?

I asked her and she nodded her head.

Mrs Rutherford: I guess, a week before your wedding, I went to New York City to find my husband. It was agent Wolf who helped me find my husband. If it wasn't for him, he would have died long ago.

She replied in a calmed tone. She really looked like a professional investigator. I nodded my head hearing her answer.

Mrs Rutherford: Now calm down Mr Hunt and tell me whatever you know. I promise I will not let anyone hurt her. I promise you before the sun goes down, your wife will be in front of you.

She said with a confidence I had never felt in a woman's voice. She was surely a woman with power. I sighed in relief and nodded my head.

Chris: Thank you, Mrs Rutherford. I will never forget it.

I replied and she bowed her head a bit.

Mrs Rutherford: Now tell me what do you know, Mr Hunt? When did you see her last time?

She asked me questions in a serious tone.

Chris: Last night I saw last in front of me. I think she was trying to wake me up in the morning but I was too tired. If I knew she would be abducted like this, I would have woken up. I did not know she was going outside. I did not even know why all of the sudden she needed to go out?

I replied in a panicked tone. I ran my fingers through my hair.

Mrs Rutherford: Calm down, Mr Hunt. Your panic is not going to help your wife at all. You need to remember everything you know and tell me. How and when did you find out that your wife is abducted?

She replied in a calmed tone then again she asked me a question.

Chris: I heard someone banging the door like they would break it. Cassie was nowhere to be found. I went to the door and saw the owner of this rental house. He said he saw someone taking my wife away. He tried to stop him but it was no use. That was why they came to me to inform me.

I replied and she nodded her head.

Mrs Rutherford: Do you have anyone in mind who can abduct her or try to hurt her. You need to tell me everything.

She asked me. I thought for a few minutes then shook my head.

Chris: No one specific in my mind. We don't know anyone here in Scotland.

I replied and she nodded her head.

Mrs Rutherford: I remember agent Wolf mentioned that your wife was abducted before. But now she had learned to defend herself. Do you think that same person could be behind this abduction as well?

She asked me and I frowned my brows.

Chris: I don't think so he would try to make that mistake ever again knowing her father is a senior FBI agent.

I replied and she took a deep breath.

Mrs Rutherford: You never know what these bastards could do.

She said and that made me think otherwise.

Chris: I can not say anything about that. I did not see him. Mr Grill, the owner of this rental house saw him.

I replied and she nodded her head.

Mrs Rutherford: Then let's go and talk to the owner of this rental house.

She replied and stood up. I also stood up and we both walked towards the door. I opened the door and we stepped out of the house. I took her to the owner's house and rang the doorbell. He opened the door in a minute. He looked at Mrs Rutherford and bowed his head in respect.

Mr Grill: Mrs Rutherford, you came to my house. This must be my lucky day.

Mr Grill said and that made me think who she actually was.

No Matter What.
