CHAPTER 47

CHRIS' POV:-

Christy: Another step towards me or if anyone tried to play smart with me, I will blow her head off. Hands in the air everyone.

She said and everyone did as she had told. Cassie was crying and looking at me with sad eyes. It looked like everything was finished. I did not think a mother could become a monster. Cassie's mother dragged her out of the courtroom. Even the police were not able to do anything. I was as shocked as everyone else was. It was a pure nightmare.

Hendrick: Why is anyone not doing anything? She will kill her.

Hendrick yelled loudly and that was when everyone turned to look at him. It was like we all were awakened by him.

Agent Wolf: We need to stop her.

Her father said and Scott pulled his phone out of his pocket. My mother started crying and Iris went to her. She signalled me to go and I nodded my head. Scott, I and agent Wolf ran towards the exit. While detective Dean brought Hendrick Black out. Hendrick was screaming to let him go but detective Dean gave him to the police and came to us.

Scott: She took your car, agent Wolf. It's impossible to track your car this easily. She is smart. Damnit, we should have been more careful since almost all of us knew what could have happened there.

Scott said and I kicked the stone that was on the ground. Agent Wolf sat on the ground with his head in his hands.

Agent Wolf: What about the program she had created to track people? It helped me find Mr Rutherford, we can find my car as well.

He asked and I shook my head.

Chris: The program could be dangerous in wrong hands that was why my father asked her to keep the security codes in her hands. Without Cassie around, the program is nothing. We need her codes to make it work. You were able to find Mr Rutherford because she set it up for you.

I replied in a disappointed tone.

Hendrick: I know where she is taking her. I can help you all find Cassandra.

Hendrick Black yelled from inside the car he was in. Hearing him, agent Wolf went to the car and the officer stopped the car. We all followed behind as we saw agent Wolf pulling Hendrick out of the car.

Agent Wolf: After destroying my daughter's life, after becoming her worst nightmare, why would you help her or us? Why even bother?

He asked Hendrick in an angry tone. Hendrick chuckled bitterly and looked at me.

Hendrick: What I did, it was unforgivable. And I can not even think to ask for forgiveness. But if I helped you find her, I would be able to sleep peacefully for at least tonight. At least I could do something good. As someone said, I can be better, I can do better. Please let me help. Your wife will kill her if you don't make a decision fast.

He begged agent Wolf and agent Wolf looked at me.

Scott: Like we really have a choice. Somehow, he knows what is she up to? It's our only chance. We have to do it.

Scott yelled at us and we both nodded our heads. Detective Dean uncuffed Hendrick and we all ran towards Scott's car. As we all knew, his car was faster than any other car.

Detective Dean: Agent Wolf, I want you to turn on the location of your phone and tag me so I can find you all. I better get more people so we can save her.

Detective Dean said and agent Wolf nodded his head. We all hopped into the car and Scott turned on the engine. We all buckled up and Scott drove off.

Chris: But I did not get it. Why? Why would she hurt her own daughter? First she paid a gang to abduct her then kill her. Then she tried to contact Hendrick. Why all that?

I asked in a frustrated tone while Hendrick was directing Scott.

Hendrick: Not just that. Sam was not the only one who knew where she was? She did that all on purpose. For me, it was an opportunity. But why would a mother become a monster?

Hendrick said then he as well asked the same question. We all looked at agent Wolf who had his eyes narrowed due to the guilt he was feeling.

Agent Wolf: That is because she is not her biological mother. Cassie is an adopted child. I never told that to Cassie. But Christy knew that of course. I knew she never liked Cassie at all. But never in my life I thought she would try to kill Cassie.

He replied and Scott stopped the car abruptly.

Chris: What? Why did you not tell that to any of us?

I yelled at him and Scott shook his head. Scott started driving again and we all waited for agent Wolf to reply.

Agent Wolf: I never wanted to lose her. That was why I kept it a secret. She was not my own blood but I love her more than I love my own daughter. She was the last memento of the love of my life. How could I leave Cassie?

He said and I sighed. I patted his back and he looked at me.

Agent Wolf: Cassandra's mother, Sandra was the love of my life. We lived in the same neighborhood. We loved each other. But her grandmother set her up with an addict man. He was a criminal. Sandra's parents were in Canada and they wanted Sandra to be with me. Everything was set until his grandmother fucked up our lives. Before her parents could have come to stop everything, she was not just married forcefully but was abused sexually as well. I was in Los Angeles at that time for a case. Sandra was alone here. Until we all learned what her grandmother did, it was too late.

He replied and I started to feel the pain he went through.

Chris: Why did she do that?

I asked him and a year escaped his eye.

Agent Wolf: We were engaged. Her father was very happy to see us both together. And so were my parents. But her grandmother, she was a psychotic bitch. She forcefully set her up with that criminal. Her grandmother was gambling addict. She was under the debt of that criminal named Kara. To pay her debts without telling her son, she sold his daughter to a monster. When no one picked up my phone, I asked my friend to visit Sandra. One of the neighbors told him that one night, she went out with Sandra. But she came back alone. I called her parents and we all went to find out what happened. But I was late by then.

He said as tears flowed freely from his eyes. I pulled my handkerchief out of my pocket and gave it to him. Agent Wolf wiped his tears with the handkerchief.

Chris: Why were you late?

I asked and he chuckled darkly.

Agent Wolf: As we learned the truth, Sandra's father called the police and they arrested his mother. It took us almost three years to find her. By the time I reached her, she was six months pregnant with Cassie. She had bruises and cuts all over her body. She was pale and weak. I took her to the hospital and Kara was arrested as well for abusing a woman and trading her for money. Turned out, he saw her when she went on a camping trip with her friends. He offered to have sex with her but she declined and asked called the police when he harassed her. She begged me to take care of her child if anything happened to her. I tried to deny the fact but I also knew she would not survive. In those four years, my mom set me up with Christy as we knew that Sandra was married. In fact, Cassie and Katy were born with the difference of six hours. That is why they only know that they are twins.

He said and I glared at Hendrick who did exactly the same with Cassie.

Agent Wolf: After a month in ICU, she was taken to the operation theater in emergency. Doctor came out with a beautiful baby girl in her arms. It was Cassie. But then they told me that Sandra did not survive. She died and I took Cassie in. My mother set me up with Christy because she thought I was wasting my life with sorrows of a woman who was never mine. As it was told that Sandra married Kara on her free will. It was also a lie that her grandmother had told everyone. I never thought Christy could become a monster.

He replied while crying crazily.

Hendrick: We are almost there.

Hendrick said as I tried my best to calm agent Wolf.
No Matter What.
