CHAPTER 23

CASSIE'S POV:-

I parked my car in front of the hospital where Chris' friend doctor Jason worked. To my luck, he was just stepping out of the hospital. I stopped him and showed him all the pictures I had taken. He looked at the screen then at me with a shock visible on his face. I gritted my teeth at him.

Cassie: Is it true?

I asked angrily. He sighed in defeat and signalled me to follow him. He took me towards the cafeteria of the hospital. We sat on one of the tables.

Jason: It is true. He came to me three days ago. I gave him some tests. After the results he was diagnosed with stomach cancer. But Miss Wolf, it's just a start. We can operate it out without any kind of risks. He just didn't listen to me.

He explained everything to me. I patiently listened to him. I nodded my head when he was done.

Cassie: Then what did he have to do all this drama? If it's nothing.

I asked.

Jason: Because he thinks that he won't survive. I assure you Miss Wolf, he is perfectly fine. It's just a start. It can be treated.

He replied. An idea popped up in my mind and I smiled mischievously.

Cassie: Can you do me a favor, doctor?

I asked and crossed my fingers.

Jason: Of course, just say it.

Cassie: I want you to call him an hour later. Tell him that I came to you, I know everything and I have proofs. Tell him that I left crying and you are worried if I would do something Stupid.

I replied with a smirk.

Jason: Are you sure Cassie? I mean he would panic.

He asked worriedly.

Cassie: Don't worry, he will be fine. He will be where I want him exactly.

I said. He nodded his head. I bid him goodbye and went to do all the arrangements. I wanted everything ready. He didn't know how stubborn I could be when it comes to the people I love. And Chris, he is my life.

CHRIS' POV:-

I was still sitting on the bathroom floor. I was still crying. I couldn't help but think how hurt she would be with my harsh words. But I just didn't want her to waste her life for me. She deserved every happiness I couldn't give her. The tears in her eyes were still killing me. I was feeling an ache inside my chest. The ache I only felt whenever I saw her teary eyes. It was the very first time when I became the reason behind her tears.

I stood up and exited the bathroom when I heard my mobile phone ringing. I looked at the caller ID. It was Jason.

Chris: Hi man, is everything okay?

I tried my best to sound normal.

Jason: Cassie was here. She knows everything. She just left crying. I'm afraid if she would do anything stupid.

He replied in a panicked tone.

Chris: What? Why did you tell her?

I asked angrily.

Jason: I didn't. She had pictures of your test results. Do something Chris.

He replied.

Chris: Don't worry. I know where she would be. I will call you as soon as I will find her.

I replied and hung up. I splashed cold water on my face and changed my clothes. I grabbed my keys, my mobile and my wallet. Then I ran out of the house. I quickly hopped into my car and drove off. I knew she would have gone to her apartment. So without wasting any time, I drove to her apartment.

Fifty minutes later, I parked my car and ran towards her apartment. I reached her apartment and found the door was still open. My heart started drumming inside my rib cage as I stepped into her apartment. I called her many times but she didn't answer. I went to her bedroom and sighed in relief. There she was. She was wearing a bridal gown and was sitting on the edge of her bed. I went to her and knelt down in front of her.

Cassie: How could you do this to me? How could you hide this from me? I thought we shared everything.

She complained with tears in her eyes.

Chris: I just did what I had to. I can't see tears in your eyes.

I replied and she slapped me.

Cassie: Don't you dare lie to me. You are the one who made me cry today. You broke my heart. You told me to leave. How could you do that to me?

She hissed and started slapping my chest.

Chris: I am so sorry Cassie.

I replied and wrapped my arms around her. I stood up then sat on the bed with her on my lap. She buried her face in the crock of my neck and I rocked her back and forth like a child.

Chris: I just want to see you happy Cassie. I can't destroy your life.

I reasoned and she tightened her hold around my neck.

Cassie: How could you say that? When I was facing the darkest time of my life you were the one who helped me. You stood by me, you pulled me back into the lights, you helped me stand up again. Whatever I am today is just because of you. How could you think that I will leave you alone in your hard times. What were you thinking? Did you think I don't love you?

She complained again.

Chris: I have broken your heart. Punish me but please Cassie, story crying. I can't see you cry.

I whispered in her ear.

Cassie: Your punishment is that you have to marry me here and now.

She replied and my mouth hung open.

Chris: What? I can't do that Cassie. Are you out of your mind?

I replied and regretted my words. Because she started sobbing hard. In the end, I had to give up.

Chris: Okay, I'll do whatever you want. Please don't cry. I can't stand that.

I replied. She looked at me then smiled. She jumped off of my lap and pulled me up as well. I stood up. She grabbed my hand and pulled me out of her bedroom. She took me to the spare room. It was decorated with flowers and ribbons and lights. The priest was standing in the middle of the room. I couldn't believe it. She had planned all this.

Cassie: We are ready father.

She said and looked at me. I shook my head and smiled over her stubbornness.

Chris: Yes we are.

I replied and the priest smiled.

Priest: Exchange your vows.

He said and we both looked into each other's eyes. We both smiled and said in union.

Chris and Cassie in union: I LOVE YOU.

We both got lost into each other's eyes. We didn't care for anyone. In that moment she was with me and that all mattered to me. Soon the priest announced us husband and wife. I grabbed her by her waist and pulled her close. I cupped the back of her head and crashed my lips over hers. I kissed her like she was the river and I was thirsty for decades. I let go of her because I wanted to save the best for later.

No Matter What.
