CHAPTER 25

CASSIE'S POV:-


It was finally the day for his surgery. The doctors were very hopeful. Because his case got caught at the very beginning. I was getting nervous. My palms were getting sweaty. To cheer me up, he started discussing our honeymoon plans.


Chris: I am telling you I will not take you where Iris and Scott are going. They won't let us have our fun.


He said and I giggled at the hint of irritation in his voice.


Cassie: Okay fine. But I want to see Paris as well.


I said with a pout.


Chris: I will take you wherever you want to go. Don't worry, I just don't want our honeymoon with Iris. She will snatch you away from me and I don't want that. Especially on my honeymoon tour.


He warned me again and I couldn't help but laugh. Stella stepped into the room and hugged me. She pecked Chris' forehead.


Stella: Stay strong son. She will be waiting for you.


She said and my eyes watered up again.


Chris: Cassie, didn't we talk about it. No more crying.


He said softly. Before I could wipe my tears, somebody wiped them off of my cheeks. I looked up and found my father standing. I quickly stood up and wrapped my arms and legs around him.


David Wolf: Don't worry, I won't let her cry.


My dad said to Chris who nodded his head. Soon Jason came into the room, Mr Hunt was with him.


Jason: Are you all ready?


He asked and everyone looked at me. I nodded my head and went to Chris. I bent over and captured his lips in a passionate kiss. I pulled back and looked into his eyes.


Cassie: See you soon Mr Hunt.


I said and he nodded his head with a smile. Jason signalled the nurses and they took him towards the operation theater. We all sat into the waiting area. My dad sat beside me. Iris and Scott came as well. We all sat together and started praying. Stella was getting very emotional. I went to her and hugged her.


Stella: Thank you Cassie. I needed that.


She said and smiled. Mr Hunt sat beside Stella and I went back to my dad. He was my strength. I hugged his arm tightly and laid my head on his shoulder. He circled his arm around my waist. Doctor Jason had already told us. The surgery would take almost an hour. But still we had to wait 60 minutes.


The operation got started and we all started counting every single second. I was thankful that my dad was by my side. I didn't know how I would be able to cross that bridge without him. My father went to the cafeteria and brought something to eat for all of us. I wasn't in the mood to eat anything but my dad fed me by his hand. I couldn't say no to him. So I shut my mouth and ate.


Finally, the longest one hour of our lives was over. Doctor Jason stepped out of the operation theater along with the other doctors with a smile on their faces.


Doctor Jason: Congratulations to you all. The surgery went fine.


He said and we all sighed in relief.


Cassie: How is he? When can we see him?


I asked doctor Jason.


Doctor Jason: It can take some time for him to wake up again. He will wake up probably in the morning. We are shifting him into the private room. You all can see him. Just make sure not to speak around him. It's good for him to rest. It would be better if only two people would stay with him at night.


David Wolf: Thank you so much doctor.


My father thanked him.


Doctor Jason: It's alright Mr Wolf.


He said and left. We all hugged each other happily. My father held me closer to his chest for a bit longer. He knew I needed him with me. Soon they shifted him into the private room. We all went there. He was sleeping peacefully. I pecked his forehead lovingly and sat beside the bed.


Stella: I will stay with him here. Scott can stay with me. We both will take care of him


Stella said. I just didn't want to leave him.


Mr Hunt: No, I and Mr Wolf have agreed on something better than that. Cassie will stay with him and Mr Wolf will stay with her. Cassie is his wife, in case he would wake up at night and would want anything, at least Cassie would be here to help him. Plus, he would easily tell her anything. He wouldn't be comfortable with any of us except for Cassie.


Mr Hunt said and I looked up at my dad who nodded his head. I smiled at him and he pecked my forehead.


Iris: Dad is right mom. He needs her here with him. We will come back in the morning.


Iris added.


Stella: I know, I just don't want to leave him alone.


Stella said.


Mr Hunt: He won't be alone. You know you can trust Cassie.


Mr Hunt said and pecked Stella's forehead.


Stella: Yes, I can't trust anyone but Cassie with my son. I'll call in the morning and bring you breakfast. Don't eat anything stupid here, okay?


She said in a motherly tone and I nodded my head with a smile. Everyone exited the room. They all went home and I stayed with Chris along with my father. My father laid down on the spare bed. He looked tired.


David Wolf: Cassie, wake me up if anything happens or you need anything. Don't go out by yourself, okay sunshine?


My dad asked me.


Cassie: Okay dad. Good night.


David Wolf: Good night sunshine.


Dad greeted me as well and drifted off. I was sitting on the couch beside the bed. I was holding his hand. I just didn't want to leave him. Like he didn't leave me alone.



A few hours passed. I was still awake. I knew I couldn't sleep until I would hear his voice. I yawned and stretched my arms above my head.


Chris: You should sleep as well Candy. Or you will get sick.


I heard his voice and snapped my head into his direction. He was looking at me with a smile on his face. He opened his arm for me to lay down beside him on the bed. I quickly stood up, kicked my shoes off and got rid of my jacket. I laid beside him and he wrapped his arm around my waist.


Cassie: Does it hurt?


I asked, seeing a frown on his face.


Chris: It hurts that's why I asked you to be closer to me.


He replied with a small smile. I smiled and rested my head on his chest. I also wrapped my arms around him. I pecked his forehead lovingly and he closed his eyes. Soon, his breath became even. Hinting me that he was already asleep. I inhaled his masculine scent deeply, filling my lungs with it as deeply as I could. His scent calmed my nerves. I thanked God for everything I had gotten and closed my eyes. It didn't take me long to slip into my dream land.
