CHAPTER 35

CASSIE'S POV:-


We all exited the factory together. Police officers took Hendrick Black away while that unknown man drove us towards the rental house where Chris and I had been living.


The car stopped in front of the rental house. We all hopped out of the car. The unknown woman rang the doorbell. I smiled as Chris opened the door after a minute.


Chris: Cassie! Oh my God, are you okay? Did he hurt you?


Chris asked me and pulled me in a protective hug. He just bombarded me with all those questions.


Unknown woman: Mr Hunt, your wife is perfectly fine. Before he could touch her hair, I was able to stop him. And before he could scare her anymore, Mrs Hunt kicked him hard on his balls. Don't worry. Harris will take care of him until agent Wolf will be here.


She replied to Chris and his eyes popped out of its sockets as she mentioned how I had acted in front of Hendrick Black. He then smiled and kissed the top of my head.


Chris: Thank you so much, Mrs Rutherford. If it wasn't for you, we would still be looking for Cassie. You really came as a flicker of hope. I don't know what I would have done if it wasn't for you.


Chris thanked her and she nodded her head.


Mrs Rutherford: I did not do anything. I just did my job. Yes, I do have my personal relations with agent Wolf since he was the one who helped me find my husband. Whatever he did for me, it was unforgettable. But what I did here was my job. And it was nothing as compared to all that agent Wolf had done for me.

Mrs Rutherford replied and Chris nodded his head.


Mrs Rutherford: I suggest you not to live here anymore. As we were told, Hendrick Black was alone. But still, I can not take any chances.


Mrs Rutherford suggested us and we both looked at her with frowned faces.


Chris: So where can we go? Agent Wolf would be here by tomorrow morning but still.


Chris replied to her in a confused tone. I exchanged looks with her friend then they both smirked.


Mrs Rutherford: You can come with me. You will be under my protection. Plus, I would be less worried about you both and until agent Wolf would be here, he would not be worried about you either.


Mrs replied and we both smiled.


Cassie: I think we can do that.


I replied with a cheeky smile. Mrs Rutherford smiled and nodded her head. Chris guided me in and also invited Mrs Rutherford with her friend into the house.


Mrs Rutherford: You better eat something before you will pack up. We can wait for you both.


Mrs Rutherford suggested and Chris nodded his head. Suddenly, Mrs Rutherford started breathing heavily. She would have fallen if it was not for her friend. He grabbed her by her arms and we took her to the living room. Her friend Harris made her sit on one of the couches. Then he sat down on the ground. Chris went into the kitchen and brought a bottle of water.


Harris: Are you okay, Rie?


He asked Mrs Rutherford and she just nodded her head. She started taking deep breaths, as if she was having trouble breathing. Chris offered her a bottle of water and she downed it's cold content in one go. Like she was thirsty for hours.


Harris: You need something to eat. It looks like you are facing a low sugar problem. When did you eat last, today?


He asked her and she nervously scratched the back of her head.


Mrs Rutherford: In the morning.


She replied with a guilty smile on her face. Harris shook his head in anger.


Harris: You know you have to eat on time. If anything happens to your baby, Mr Rutherford will skin me alive then he will roast me and I will be a feast for the crows.


He scolded her and Chris and I both looked at her with our mouths agape.


Chris: Wait what? You are pregnant! Why did you not tell us? And you went to find Cassie and fight Hendrick with a baby inside you!


Chris asked her in a shocked tone whole she nodded her head proudly.


Cassie: Oh God! You need to eat something right now, Mrs Rutherford.


I said and grabbed Mrs Rutherford's hand. She stood up and squeezed my hand a bit.


Mrs Rutherford: Don't be too formal. Call me Norie, or Rie.


She said and I just nodded my head. I was surprised how a woman could be this brave. She fought him without any hesitations.


Chris: Come on, I had made spaghetti. Let's eat together.

Chris said and I licked my lips in excitement.


Cassie: You should try his spaghetti. He makes it the best way.


I said and Norie nodded her head. We all took our seats on the dining table and Chris served us all. We all enjoyed our late lunch together.




As soon as our bags were packed, Chris and I stepped out of the room and we went downstairs with our luggage. Norie smiled as she saw us and hopped off of the couch. We all stepped out of the rental house together. Chris locked the house then handed the keys to its owner. Norie thanked Mr Grill again for his help and we all went towards her car that was parked in front of the rental house. Harris had already called the rental car owner and they took away the car. We had already paid for both the car and the house. Harris then helped Chris with our luggage and then we all hopped into the car. Harris started the engine and drove off.



Norie: You can stay as long as you want. The guest house is loaded with everything you would need. But in case they missed anything, let me know. I will ask them to get you whatever you want.


Norie said with a smile on her face. I just smiled and nodded my head.



Cassie: We can't thank you enough for everything you have done for us. You are still doing a lot. How will we ever repay you?


I asked Norie with teary eyes.



Norie: You don't need to repay anything, Mrs Hunt. As I said, whatever I did or am doing, it is all part of my job.


She replied and we both nodded our heads with grateful smiles on our faces. I hugged Chris' arm tightly and rested my head on his shoulder. I inhaled his masculine scent deeply. It calmed my nerves and I again felt butterflies inside my stomach.



Harris parked the car in front of a huge mansion. It was bigger than the Hunt's mansion. We all hopped out of the car. A very beautiful old woman was standing at the door waiting for us. Norie went to her and she first pulled Norie in a bear hug. Then she asked Norie if she was okay. Once the old woman got satisfied, she looked at us. She came to us and greeted us with open arms.



Norie: Grandma, Mr and Mrs Hunt. They will be living with us for a few days. Till then, they are our guest. Mr and Mrs Hunt, this is Mr Rutherford's grandmother. She will guide you from here.

Norie introduced us to Mrs Rutherford. Mrs Rutherford asked the maids to take our luggage into the guest house then she guided us towards the guest house. We stepped into the guest house. It was beautiful and fully decorated. It was not home but it smelled like one.


Mrs Rutherford: You both can get fresh and take some rest. The dinner will soon be ready. Would you like to join us or would you like to have it here?


She asked us with a smile on her face.


Cassie: We would like to join you, Mrs Rutherford.


I replied and she nodded her head with a wide smile. She excused herself and we went towards the bedroom.
