Chapter 22

Elise steps up to the booth where Kyle had just been and looks down at the gun sitting in front of her. The room goes deathly silent as we all watch her. I'm not sure if the men who kept her locked up used weapons like this to threaten the Omegas, but she is looking at it like it might jump up and bite her. I decided to calm her nerves and show her that with confidence and the right training that there isn't anything to be scared of.

"First you want to carefully lift it," I say standing behind her and leaning down so that I am speaking directly into her ear.

When I glance down at her exposed neck I see goosebumps forming and I smirk. Pushing the excitement I feel at getting a reaction from her just by speaking low in her ear, I focus on teaching.

"Pick it up," I say and she nods slightly.

Her hand hesitates just out of reach but she takes in a deep breath and picks up the gun.

"See this? This is the safety. You want to be sure that it is in place whenever you handle a gun. This is to ensure that you do not fire it by mistake and either injure yourself or anyone else around you." I explain.

"Safety. Okay." She says letting out a deep breath.

"Now, you want to stand with your shoulders back and your legs spread to line up with them." I rest my hands on her hips and turn her slightly so she is fully facing the target.

Once she's in place I slide my hands down her hips and gently grab one leg and pull it so that her feet are evenly spaced. Then I stand and rest my hands on her shoulders pulling them pack so that her form is strong.

"Good girl. Now, lift the gun with both hands." I tell her.

She nods and raises her arms out in front of her.

"There is going to be a recoil when you pull the trigger so you want to keep your arms locked." I go on to explain.

Just as I did with her legs I run my hands down her arms and tap her elbows so that she straightens them and I move one of her hands to tighten the grip of the gun.

"Reach your thumb up and pull back on the safety," I tell her.

Once again she hesitates but I stay close to her.

"It's okay. Don't be afraid. Pull back the safety." I repeat and she slowly does so. "Good now keep both of your eyes open and focus on the red targets. Those are the ideal spots to incapacitate someone without causing a fatal injury."

"Right. Don't shoot them and kill them." She says and I chuckle.

"Unless they piss you off then feel free." I tease and she lets out a little snort.

"Yeah. Okay, I can do this." She blows out a breath and I slide her ear muffs back over her ears.

I nod to the others and they do the same. Once we are all ready I move my hands back down to her hips and give them a little squeeze to signal her. She pulls the trigger and her body jerks a little but her form stays solid. A few seconds pass and she flips the safety back on before lowering the gun and setting it back down on the counter.

She removes the headphones and I press the button next to us to pull the target closer to us. A whistle comes from behind us and I swell with pride.

"Damn. That's a hell of a shot for a first-timer." Kyle says and I have to agree.

"I thought I wasn't supposed to give him a fatal injury. Isn't that bad?" She asks pointing at the point-blank shot between the eyes of the paper guy.

"Well, as I said unless they piss you off and this guy sure did." I tease and she laughs.

"So I did well then?" She asks looking over at me and I give her a firm nod.

"How about we see if it was a fluke?" Sawyer challenges and Elise turns to narrow her eyes at him.

He smiles brightly at her and she turns to me. "Again." She says and I quickly load another target.

Our girl blows that target to kingdom come. When we pull it back we see she has hit every target perfectly. We all gape at her and she looks adorably smug.

"How the hell did she do that? Are you sure you've never shot a gun before?" Hudson asks looking impressed and a little nervous.

Elise shakes her head. "Never."

I glance at Ezra and I see him frowning at her. I can see the cogs moving in his head. Maybe he's thinking about the same thing I am. Whatever Elise has in her system that has given her rapid healing might have helped in a few other ways. It also makes me wonder if she will be able to pick up hand-to-hand combat just as easily. To say I'm excited to find out is an understatement. Actually imagining her trying to lay us all on our asses sounds pretty appealing.

"Alright, let's move on. See you guys tonight." Ezra says to Liddy's mates and he starts to heard Elise out.

"See you!" The guys yell back as we follow Ezra and Elise out.

"You were amazing in there sweetheart! That was hot as hell." Sawyer says excitedly and she beams at his praise.

"Thanks. It wasn't nearly as scary as I expected it to be." She says.

"It was a surprise to see you pick it up so easily. It usually takes most people a while to feel that comfortable and not many people have perfect aim like that." Ezra says as he leads us in the direction of the main staircase.

Elise hums and tilts her head. "I can't explain it. It was like...I could see everything so clearly that it was as if the target was right in front of me. Everything seemed to fall away and it was like time stood still. Crazy right?"

"Not crazy. Impressive." Archer says.

She just shrugs. "I guess. I'm not sure it matters though. When am I ever going to need to use a gun? It's sort of pointless to be good at something I'll never need to use."

"What do you mean? If you are going to help us here, you will need to know how to not only use a weapon properly but you will train for every sort of possible encounter with a target." Ezra says.

We turn to the right and head up the second set of stairs. This one leads to the side of the compound where we all have our personal offices. I hardly use mine, but we each have to deal with various aspects of the business that requires some sort of secure room to handle private matters. Each office is soundproofed and can only be opened by keycodes. Ezra's office is accessible by the staff since he is the head of the company and tries to maintain an open door policy with our staff, but the rest of us have our offices locked down.

Ezra has a second office hidden away for more serious business and that one has a steel reinforced door hidden behind one of his bookshelves. We meet in there when we deal with the business we want to keep off the books. Or sensitive cases assigned to us by private government departments.

"Why? I mean I know I said I wanted to help, but I didn't think you would want me...fighting and stuff. I assumed..."

"You assumed that because you are an Omega we would only let you help at a safe distance," Ezra says cutting her off.

She nods.

"No love. We are not typical Alphas who expect you to sit at home waiting for us. Not unless that's what you wish to do, and we would be happy to accommodate whatever you would like to do with your free time. When our sister decided to study medicine, we were worried of course but we knew that it was her dream. She didn't want to be a princess waited on hand and foot. She wanted to be more than a stigma, and she is. So why not you?" He asks.

He stops in front of his office and pushes the door open. Elise steps in first and we follow behind her ad move toward the bookcase where the hidden door is. Ezra locks his office door and then joins us. He moves a book out of the way where the hidden pin pad is. He types in the code and tugs on the bookshelf making it open like a door.

Elsie's mouth drops open before she lets out a laugh.

"Are you guys secret spies or something? This looks like something you see on TV." She says and the guys smirk.

"If we told you, we would have to kill you, sweetheart," Sawyer says as Ezra opens the steel door behind him.

She gapes at him and I shake my head at him.

Yeah, we deal with sensitive information but what she doesn't know is that Ezra is sort of a movie buff and took all his ideas from all the spy films he's been obsessed with since we were kids.

Simply put, he's extra as fuck and this was his ultimate nerd dream.

Plain and simple.
