Chapter 60
**Rowan**
"...with a situation like this, it is imperative that all precautions are taken..."
The doctor has been scolding me and the guys for the past few minutes and it feels like I'm a kid again. Everything she's been saying has just proven how little we know about caring for an Omega. Like how you never take an unbounded Omega to a place with a huge crowd. An Omega's scent can lure people to them if they are in distress.
"What do we do now doctor?" Kai asks softly.
She sighs. "She needs rest. You boys were lucky this time. I want to keep her here overnight to be sure the concussion isn't too severe. While she is here I would like someone from Haven come talk to you and give you some information on bringing an Omega into your pack. That way you are better prepared to take care of her. If it was up to me I would recommend that she return to Haven and you take the full course on Omega care..."
"No. We aren't letting anyone take her back there. She belongs with us." Declan growls and the doctor raises a brow at him.
"As I was saying, usually that would be my recommendation but I can see that you guy didn't mean to put her in harm's way. So, I will recommend speaking to someone but I promise you that if she is brought Iack here like this again I will have no choice but to file a report. Got it?" She says firmly.
"Yes, doctor we understand," I say and she nods.
"Good. I'll make that call then." With one more pointed look at each of us, she turns and leaves the room.
"Shit. This is bad." Kai says running a hand down his face.
"At least she isn't reporting us, but she isn't wrong. We haven't prepared at all for taking care of Luna." Milo shakes his head.
"This is my fault. I took us there and didn't give us a chance to prepare." Bennett says looking down at Luna's sleeping form.
He reaches out and brushes a lock of her hair away from her face.
"It's not your fault. Most packs know at least the minimum about Omega care but we never had the chance to learn. We never even discussed adding an Omega to our pack before we showed up at Haven. We need to change that." I won't let them blame themselves for what happened today, but I will make sure we don't make this same mistake again.
If anyone is to blame, it's me. I am their leader which means it was my responsibility to prepare them for this change and I didn't.
"Has the police called about the guys who tried to take her?" Milo asks me and I shake my head.
"No. Nothing yet," I reply with a sigh.
They probably won't catch those guys any time soon.
"So where do we start?" Declan asks looking at me.
"We start by talking to that person from Haven, and then learn as much as we can when we get out of here. We also need to discuss bonding with Luna as well. It may be too soon, but maybe we can bond her without...you know." I wave my hand around hoping they get what I'm insinuating.
"Bonding without sex you mean?" Kai says and I roll my eyes.
"Yes exactly. Is that possible?" I ask Milo.
He has at least read the basics about Omegas.
"As far as I know it isn't the common way to go, but given that Luna is a bit shy...we can ask the person from Haven and see what they think." He says with a shrug.
"She is probably not ready to take that step with us. I mean we haven't even kissed her yet." Kai points out.
"Most packs claim their Omega in a week but Luna seems nervous and I don't think it's right to push her too fast. We just have to keep her away from crowds until she's ready to complete the bond." Milo says and we nod along to his advice.
"You are quite right." A woman's voice says behind us and I turn to find a woman standing in the doorway. "Hello gentlemen, my name is Claudia Summers. I'm from Haven and I'm here to talk with you about Luna."
"That was fast," Kai says giving her a skeptical once over.
"I have an office here at the hospital that I use a few days a week, so I was nearby. Shall we sit?" She motions for us to sit on the various chairs the nurses had brought in for us. "Let's jump right in then. How much do you guys know about living with an Omega?"
"I did some reading about basic needs and common things to expect when bringing home an Omega," Milo replies and she nods along.
"That is fine and a good place to start but like you said, it's only the basics and that isn't enough. I'm guessing this decision was quick then?" She asks.
"I surprised the guys, but I honestly hadn't expected to meet the right Omega on our first visit," Bennett admits.
"Well for most packs, they take part in a two-hour course on preparing and caring for an Omega. You have to understand that Omegas are very special and need to be handled with the utmost care. They bring balance to a pack by giving a sense of completeness and calm. They also need a lot of care. A proper nest that makes them feel comfortable and relaxed. Have you prepared a nest for Luna at home?" She asks.
"Yes, we found a list of things Omegas like for nests." Milo answers.
"That's fine but every Omega has their own taste. I recommend taking Luna to an Omega safe store to let her pick out a few things she would like." She explains.
"What is an Omega safe store?" I ask her.
"They are stores that allow Omegas to shop safely. They are by appointment only and each Omega gets the whole store to themselves for that allotted time. Only their pack and the Omega can enter the store. It is also run by Betas, so there is less stress on the Omega. They offer anything an Omega will need, including things that some other stores may not provide." She pauses to take in her words. "I can provide you with the needed information for that. Now, I was made aware that you have not yet bonded with Luna. May I ask why?"
"We didn't want to push her. She hasn't been with us long." I explain.
"I understand, and that is understandable. However, it is perfectly fine to bond as soon as the Omega is brought to their new home." She says.
"But don't we need to be intimate with her to complete the bond? She barely knows us, that seems a little too fast." Bennett points out.
"Actually, you can bond her through your bite as soon as you would like. This will entwine her with your pack's scent, but it is only temporary. I small bite of claim and then you can fully bond with her later on. To create the complete bond does require intimacy and a deeper bite that you will need to attend to for the first couple of days. This bite will heal and leave a permanent scar. That bond will also allow for emotional sharing, unlike the temporary bond." She explains.
"Emotional sharing?" Kai asks.
"Yes. When you bond with your Omega it creates a special link that allows for you to feel her emotions and she can feel yours. You will also be able to sense her when she is nearby. The bite will also combine your scents with hers and that is how others will know she is claimed."
"What about with me? I'm not a full Alpha, so I won't be able to bond her right?" Bennett asks.
"You are half Alpha?" She asks him and he nods. "Well, in that case, there is a chance you can at least create a temporary bond with her that you will need to refresh over time." She explains and Bennett's face beams at the hope of being able to leave his mark on Luna as well.
"We will be going on tour in a couple of weeks, and we've prepared a mobile nest for Luna. Would that be something she would be okay with? Will she be comfortable with something like that?" I ask.
"Again that depends on her, but an Omega usually does not like to be too far from their main nest. I recommend moving most of her home nest into the space so the transition isn't too much for her. Omegas need stability and being surrounded by her pack as much as possible will help with any changes like that." I nod.
"Wouldnt we overwhelm her by crowding her though?" Milo asks.
The woman looks at us like we have lost our minds.
"Have you not been spending time with her?" She asks.
"We have but we gave her space to get used to her nest last night," Bennett says.
"I see. How did she take that?" She asks.
"She asked for me," I say.
And it felt amazing to spend those few hours wrapped around her.
"That is a problem. A big one." She says and we all glance at each other in confusion.
Since when is space a bad thing?
