Chapter 51

**Bennett**


I knew this was what we were missing. The guys played better today than they have in a while now. Even without Luna being bonded to the pack I could already see the positive effects of having her with us. She has sent a calm through the guys that they desperately needed to get through recording this album.

It felt really nice to have Luna cuddled against my side. To be honest, I’m not one to enjoy such things since most people from my home country are not the most affectionate but also being a Beta I don’t feel the same intense pull toward Omega’s like Alphas do. This makes me question even more who my father is. Mum had a one-night fling with a man while she was drunk and nine months later I was born. The night is a blur for her so I was never able to find out more about who my father is, but there have been hints leaning me toward the idea that he may have been an Alpha.

Many Alphas will have a fling with a Beta but not offer them a place in their pack pregnant or not. A Beta’s genes are weaker than Alphas and Omega’s, so they don’t want to chance muddying things by mixing Alpha and Beta genes. If however, they do have a child, they almost always end up being born a Beta.

But even though I am technically a Beta, I display some traits that are similar to an Alpha. The chances of having Alpha traits are beyond rare, but it would explain the strong pull I feel to Luna. I have this urge to scent mark her which is an Alpha trait. I had considered being tested once before when I had become of age, but never went through with it. Now I think I just might. If I do have Alpha traits, maybe there is a chance I can bond with Luna too.

Wishful thinking I suppose.


The guys finish the final song of the album and the smiles on their faces tell me they feel the difference too. The song sounds nearly perfect, and that means we could actually get this album out in time. The label had hoped to release the album while we are on tour, and feature some of the new songs at the last show.

Kai returns his guitar to its stand and heads right toward Luna and me. He pulls her up from the chair and links their fingers together before leading her back into the producer’s booth. I grumble my objections behind him making the others snicker. I have a feeling there are going to be more than a few arguments with Kai if he doesn’t learn to share.

“He’s just excited. You’ll get your time with her.” Rowan says stepping up beside me.

“Well, he better get used to sharing. I may not be an Alpha, but I want to have my time with her too.” I say.

“It’s up to the Omega to decide who she wants to be close to and when. We’ll have to explain that to Kai later, but for now, she doesn’t seem bothered by it.” Milo says.

“We’ll need to take some time to learn sign. I don’t like not being able to understand her if she needs something from us.” Rowan says with a sigh.

“She was teaching classes at Haven, maybe we can have her teach us,” I suggest.

Rowan nods. “That would work. This track sounded good, so hopefully, we won’t need to do any re-recording. That would give us a couple of weeks to learn as much as we can. Tonight we need to go over several things before we go on tour. Luna being with us means we need to take some extra precautions.”

He’s right. Luna will be with us on the road, but at the venues, there will be thousands of people around.

“We’ll have to bond with her soon,” Milo says as we join Declan and Kai in the booth.

Our producer Brian is replaying a section of the chorus when we are all gathered around him.

“It sounds good. I’ll clean things up a little bit but I don’t think much work will be needed. Great job guys!” He smiles at us proudly.

The guys let out some grumbled thanks but the moment from earlier hadn’t softened them one bit. He had spoken about our Omega like she was some girl he saw on the street. She couldn’t hear his words but that didn’t matter. She wasn’t his to look at or speak about. He may be a Beta but he is open about all the girls he hooks up with and there is no way in hell I am allowing him near our girl.

“The boss wants the album done before our last show of the tour, so be sure it’s finished in time. After today we’ll be preparing for the tour.” I make sure he knows.

“No problem. I’ll have it done.” He says with a nod but I catch him stealing a glance at Luna once more.

Declan lets out a low growl and Brian’s eyes snap to him. His throat bobs and his eyes grow a little wider before he turns his attention back to me.

“I’ll have it done.” He says again with a little wobble in his voice.

I guess he got the message this time.

“Good,” I say.

Kai turns toward the exit and leads Luna out. The rest of us follow and once we are back on the main floor we make a protective circle around Kai and Luna. There are only a couple of other Alphas on this floor and they usually keep to the other side so the chances of running into them are slim but it doesn’t matter, better safe than sorry. As we pass several pairs of eyes follow our movements as we make our way to the elevator.

I catch a few questioning whispers between a few people and I am not surprised. We’ve been a part of this label for some time now and no one has ever seen us bring a girl around. Sure the guys have had their flings here and there but nothing serious enough to bring one of those girls into the studio. Having Luna with us has drawn a lot of new attention to us and I can only imagine the questions we’ll be getting once we’re on tour.

It reminds me that we need to plan this out very carefully. We may need to even officially introduce her so everyone knows she’s ours. That means that the Alphas will have to bond with her sooner rather than later. If we plan to show her to the world they’ll want some proof. It’s well known that there are people out there desperate enough to take an Omega without consent.

She’ll be in danger if we don’t bond her soon.

We make it down the elevator and out to the garage without any trouble, much to my relief.

“Luna can ride with me,” Kai says leading her to his bright red VW bus.

He rounds the car and opens the door for her like the proper gentleman he isn’t. Don’t get me wrong, we respect women but we aren’t exactly Prince Charming. We’re all too rugged and broken to be anything near fairytale prince material.

“Fine but you’re going to have to share her Kai,” Rowan yells out in warning as Kai combs into the driver's seat.

He salutes our leader with two fingers as the engine roars to life. He pulls out before the rest of us have even climbed into our buses. I shake my head and smile a little. Kai deserves to have something to be excited about, so for now, he gets a free pass but not for too long.

The rest of us get on the road and form a train down the highway.

It’s time to show Luna our real home, the one we will be spending the next couple of weeks getting to know each other in. The courting is about to begin and I am going to enjoy every second.

Seeing her reaction to the mobile nest has me excited to see how she’ll like the larger nest we set up for her at home.

I can’t wait.
