Chapter 14

"Brooklyn Dale?"

My eyes shot open when I heard the nurse call my name, I sat up straighter when I realized I'd been leaning on Scott while waiting.

I stood up from the seat I was in and walked over to the door she held open. "He can't come in.." I looked over my shoulder and at Scott who had penetrated this poor woman with his glare.

"Unfortunaly he has to. My parents put a bodyguard on me at all times." I told her kindly, there was no hiding the tiredness in my voice either.

Her eyes glazed over and I sighed.

"Okay, the doctor said it's fine." She gave me a smile so I gave her the best one I could muster up. Scott walked behind me, not too close but close enough to where I could feel him there.

"Take a seat and Dr. Jarvis will be in soon." I nodded my head going over and sitting down heavily in one of the seats.

A couple minutes later the door opened again, my doctor walked in, a smile always plastered on his face. "Hello dear, how have you been? I haven't seen you in a while."

I was debating on telling him the truth, he has always been a good doctor to everybody who walked in the door so I went for it. "I've not been great." I looked down at my hands.

"Why is that?" He asked me.

"I came in because I think I have a cold, but I also wanted to ask...." I stood up while taking my jacket off, and lifting up my shirt. "My husband and I aren't together anymore, so how long would these take to dissapear?"

If he wanted to judge me he didn'tnt say anything out loud. "Hop up on the bed for me and lay back." I did as he asked, once I was laying down he lifted up my shirt again. "How long?" He asked me softly while grazing his fingers over the mess of my skin.

"A little over 3 years..." I looked away from him again, when I turned my head my eyes found Scott's as he watched my doctor examine me. "May I?" I glanced back at him to see him pointing at where my mark os.

I nodded and turned my head the other way. "So who did the rejecting?" He touched the fading mark, it didn't hurt but a jolt of uneasiness flooded my system.

Stupid bond is still affecting me.

"I rejected him!" I breathed. "And he accepted?" I looked back at him, my eyes must have given him the answer he wanted because he nodded his head.

"That's probably a good thing, I've only seen a case this bad 1 other time. She didn't live long after the internal bleeding started." My breathing picked up, and my eyes watered.

"What?" Was he telling me that I was going to die?

"Your wolf is weak too isn't she?" He asked me, I gave him a nod and he fixed my shirt then helped me sit up. "I would be concerned if you hadn't left him. Because once you start throwing up the blood-"

"She already is!" I let out a low growl "Scott, leave it alone." I told him.

Dr. Jarvis looked between Scott and I, his face was now a little pale and I could see pity on it too. "I just need somethijg for the cold." He glanced back at me, his eyes softer than they were a second ago.

"You need to go to the hospital, I need to know how bad it is." Was his reply. "I don't have the machines here, Brooke. I will call and give them your name, I can contact you when they have a bed ready."

He stopped and looked down at my stomach. "How far along are you?" I let out a deep breath. "26 weeks according to the last doctor I seen at the hospital. She was human though, I'm sure I've grown since then."

He chuckled. "I'll see about getting you on the floor with the wolves." He pulled out his stethoscope and had me take a few deep breaths while he listened to my lungs.

I couldn't help the cough that started by the third deep breath he had me take. I watched him pull out a pad and begun writhing something down on it, when he was finished he ripped it off and handed it to me.

"There's an issue with your breathing, that is a perscription for an inhaler. And this one.." He wrote down another perscription. "..is for the coughing."

I looked at it and honestly couldn't read a word he wrote, it was basically chicken scratch in a hasty cursive.

"Hey.." I looked back up at him, he had a smile on his face again. "I'm sure this," he nodded down to my abdomen. "Is nothing serious, I'm just worried about the baby." I returned his smile with a small one.

Scott let out a single chuckle, drawing our attention to him. "That baby is of Alpha blood. She isn't going anywhere doc." I felt my cheeks heating up, he couldn't be sure of that.

"I've no doubt, the mother is stronger than she thinks she is. To beable to go through 3 years with a neglectful mate than have the courage to leave him....that reminds me of when her mother was younger."

Of course he would bring that up, I was wondering when he would. Dr. Uriel Jarvis became my mom's doctor after hers died. He even delivered me, so I've known him my whole life.

"Listen kid, do what you need to do today. I'll get everything in order for you in the morning since this was last minute. I just want to make sure you don't need a transfusion." He gave me another smile, his brown eyes showing nothing but concern and I hated making people worry about me.

"Thank you..." I was greatful he let me stay home until tommorrow morning. I have to still go by the bank and do what I have to do to get my money into my new account.

He patted my shoulder before he turned around and walked to the door, he waited there until me and Scott were ready.

After gathering my things Scott took them from me and motioned me to the door. "I can carry my own purse you know?" I whispered walkimg past my doctor, who chuckled at what I said.

"I know you can, but you don't feel good so I don't mind." My heart fluttered at how sweet his words were.

If this was Ryan he wouldn't be caught carrying a purse, not even mine. So this was a new kind of sweet any man has ever shown towards me.

I signed out, the nurse behind the desk made me another appointment for next week so Dr. Jarvis could do a follow up on me.

Once we were outside Scott helped me put my jacket on. "Thanks, my bank is in walking distance. Want to walk?" I asked him, he looked down at me, his blue eyes locking with mine and I felt as if my breathing stopped for a second.

"I'd love to walk alongside you."

He took the side next to me, I couldn't help but notice he was on the side that was near the highway. Such a gentlemen he is, when he finds his mate, she is going to one lucky woman.

I bit my lip as I glanced up at him then back in front of me. "Hey Scott?" He hummed in response. "Your lycan, what does he look like?"

I felt his eyes on me, I blushed a little and looked up at him. "I've only seen pictures in the history books when they taught us about how your kind died." I flinched when I finished the sentence. I couldn't imagine being one of the few left as a species, it hurt my heart when I thought about it.

"Well his name is Ezekiel, obviously you know we are bigger than werewolves because we can stand straight up on our hind legs. But his fur, it's a dark brown with black paws and ears and a few patches on his body." I smiled to myself as I pictured it, I'm sure he is just as beautiful as he described him.

"What about your wolf? I'm sure she is just as beautiful as her human is." My cheeks flushed again, I cleared my throat. "Her fur is the same color as my hair." I wrapped a strand of my hair around my finger. "But unlike my siblings, Zena's eyes aren't the same color as mine."

"What color are they?" He asked, I felt Zena come forward, I gave her control for a moment and looked back up at him.

He stopped walking and turned to me, Scott placed his hand on my cheek, Zena purred at the contact.

She was infatuated with him, absolutely loved to be in his presence.

"They look like sapphires, amoureux." His own eyes turned into a brighter blue than they already were, that's when I realized it was his lycan and not Scott.

He began leaning down and with Zena in control I couldn't stop her from leaning up on her tiptoes to meet him.

She purred again when our lips connected. I heard him growl, the vibrations of it made his chest vibrate under my hands.

He swiped his tounge over my lips and I parted them, letting him invade my mouth.

"Brooke?"

He growled again when I pulled away to see who called my name. But I felt like hiding when I seen her, her red hair in a high ponytail and her hazel eyes peering at me with confusion.

But I mustered up the will to smile. "Felicity, it's nice to see you!"
