Chapter 31

"Brooklyn Jeanne," I yelled after my sister as I stepped into my uncle's home. Jon smirked at me as I stepped past him. I went over and stood in the entrace to the living room where she was curled into Scott's side hiding her face from me.

I could see her red cheeks behind her fingers as she covered her face, I could feel her embarrassment and amusement through my empath ability.

I gave her a low growl and I began hearing giggles come from her, even Scott laughed at how hilarious this situation was to her. I on the other hand didn't find it funny that she used Jordan's power to teleport away from all of us, then come back and not come see me!

"No call, no text or email, hell not even a letter, nothing from you to tell me you were home?" I said keeping up my bravado as I tried not to chuckle at how much she was laughing.

"Yeah, and since I wasn't the only one who felt dismissed by you, they came here with me to kidnap you." I gave her a cheesy grin as Danielle, Alana, Emily and Felicty came into view.

Her giggles stopped and she lifted her head. "What?" She asked blinking her eyes like she didn't hear what I said.

"What she's saying youngster is we;" Danielle waved her armfrom us then back to her. "are going out tonight, so we're kidnapping you for the rest of rhe night." She smirked playfully then placed her hand on her hip.

"But," she looked back to Scott who leaned in and pecked her head. "But I don't want to go out." She said not even looking back at us.

"Too bad, you and your mate can can have sex another night." Alana said and she went over to her and grabbed her hand yanking her up. Emily joined her in forcing my sister over here with us.

My Uncle Chase began laughing his head off at Alana's comment while my Aunt Jessica shook hers while still texting away on her phone. She didn't seem shocked that we were here and takomg her out by force, hell she will get over it.

Scott chuckled at us, "Be safe ladies." He said as we all began moving to the front door. I did a little victory dance with Danielle before we got to the front door, Felicity giggled at our idiocy while she followed us.

"Wait stop, I didn't get to-" Brooklyn tried to get out of my cousins hold but Emily clamped her hand over her mouth silencing her.

"Stop talking. You need to save your voice, we're going out for karaoke and yes we are making you sing."

**********

About an hour later we were all piling into mine and Danielle's cars. Alana and Emily with Danielle, and Felicity and Brooklyn with me.

I looked over only see my sister checking her eyeliner again. Felicity reached up and handed her her black eyeliner. I shook my head at her not thinking she was beautiful right now. I also knew she hadn't been out in so long that it had me wanting to get her drunk for all the lost time.

"You're gonna ruin Emily's handy work." I told her and she stopped before she could add too much of it.

"The last time we all went to a karaoke bar was for your bachelorette party." Felicity said, I knew she meant no harm in saying that, but I had to remember that was also right before her life went to shit.

"Yeah, it's been a while hasn't it?" Brooklyn said a little quietly, then reached back and gave Felicity back her eyeliner. I glanced in the rearview at Felicity who suddenly felt bad for saying what she said.

"I think i have a song in mind. But I don't want to hear anything if it sounds bad because I haven't sang in a while." Brooklyn giggled, suddenly recovering from whatever she felt seconds ago.

"Oh yeah, what song?" I asked her, I knew why she was getting over Ryan rather quickly. I noticed the mark on her as we both went back and fourth between what to wear.

I was happy for my baby sister, I knew Scott would treat her so much better than how Ryan did. "You'll see..." She smiled to herself as she glanced out the window.

My sister was a really great singer. We don't know who she gets her musical talent from because me and mom can't sing a tune to save our life. She could hit notes as good as Whitney or Celine and that only made us girls envious of it.

"You could never sound terrible, Brooks!" Felicity said. She reached her hand up and grasped the one Brooklyn had in her lap.

Brooklyn brought it up and kissed her hand before letting her have it back. "I've missed you too, Fells!" She told her looking over her shoulder with a smile.

Felicity has been wanting to speak to her all night, but the girls wouldn't leave them alone while we got ready. But it seems Brooklyn knew and decided to clear the air without saying more than 5 words to her.

Another half hour and we were walking into the bar that was downtown. I had my arm linked with my sisters. We went to a table relitivly close to the stage, Brooklyn didn't sit, she pointed to the bartender with her thumb and said; "if you want me to sing I need some liquid courage."

Alana and Emily jumped up from their seats. Alana went to the bar while Emily went over to the DJ and she told her to write down her cousins name. Brooklyn went over to where she was and whispered the song she wanted in the woman's ear

She said something with a smile and Brooklyn nodded her head, her cheeks were tinted red in a blush, she said something to the DJ and giving her a smile in return. When Emily was finished the both of them came over while Brooklyn's cheeks were still flushed red.

"Why are you blushing, Brooklyn?" I asked my sister who giggled embarrassingly. "The DJ hit on me." She shook her head and sat down.

"She told her she smelt devine." Emily giggled sitting beside her. "Too bad she can't go home with her." She teasted while winking over Brooklyn.

"Well," Brooklyn started. "If I was still with Ryan, I might have taken her up on it." Danielle began laughing, and it made all of us at the table laugh because Danielle's laugh was a loud laugh that shouldn't belong to any woman. "But I'm not with that man I used to call my husband, I'm with the best man that ever walked into my life." She finished while laughing at Danielle's laughs and snorts.

"Preach" Alana said carrying an assortment of shots on a tray. A waitress came up behind her with 2 more trays. I guess she wanted to get not only Brooklyn drunk, but us too.

***********

I look at my sister when the DJ told everybody who was to be up next after a 2 minute break. She's only had 2 shots, said she didn't want to be drunk when she got in stage. She picked up the shot of fireball and knocked it back.

Her face was red from the alcohol but it didn't make her look like a tomato, just made her look like she was blushing all over. "We are so getting you fucked up tonight." Felicity giggled.

"I already was..." Brooklyn said, then instantly realized what she said and what Felicity had said. I looked at everyone who began to snicker at how the liquor made her brain fart on her. "That's not what I meant." She suddenly said, but it was too late to take it back.

"Where?" I asked her while trying to stifle my laughter. Her face softened and her lips curled into a smile as she thought back on it. "The hall bathroom!" Her face started to form a flush when she pulled her bottom lip between her teeth not looking at anyone of us.

"Damn, I wish my mate would make me feel wet just thinking about him the way yours is to you." Danielle sighed out a wish. "Oh shut up, you know he does." Brooklyn countered, looking over at her with a playful glare.

The DJ walked past us and leaned down saying; "Time to shine beautiful!" Brooklyn blushed again as the woman made her way back to her music station.

Brooklyn stood up and went to the stage, she grabbed the stand of the microphone and adjusted it. She then looked over to the DJ and nodded her head telling her she was ready.

She took a deep breath then the music started. I couldn't help but smile at the song she chose. I looked over when I see movement. Alana had puled her phone out and was holding it up, recording ber.

A smile etched itself on my sister's lips before she began singing.

"A broken heart is all that's left," she sang just a beautiful as I remembered. "I'm still fixing all the cracks. Lost a couple of pieces when, I carried it, carried it, carried it home."

Her smile faded a little as she sang. "I'm afraid of all I am. My mind feels like a foreign land. Silence ringing inside my head, please, carry me, carry me, carry me home..."

"I've spent all of the love I saved. We were always a losing game, small-town boy in a big arcade....I got addicted to a losing game." The moment she said that last line my smile grew even bigger.

"All I know, all I know.. loving you is a losing game." I suddenly understood why she didn't want to tell me what she picked. She was telling us and everyone in here she was finally getting over everything Ryan put her through. "How many pennies in the slot? Giving us up didn't take a lot. I saw the end before it begun, still I carried, I carried, I carry on-Ooh, ooh, all I know, all I know. Loving you is a losing game.." The way she made her voice fall higher when she hit 'I carry on' then added it to her 'ohs made me perfer her version over the original.

The bar seemed to have gone quiet after that line and were watching her. "All I know, all I know, loving you is a losing game. Her voice got softer at this part. "I don't need your games, game over. Get me off this roller-coaster.." Her eyes closed before the beat hit and she opened them before allowing herself to sing the rest of the song with a stoic expression. "All I know, all I know, loving you is a losing game.."
