Chapter 37

Scott's POV

I jumped up from the bed when I notice her fall out the corner of my eye.

I growled when I saw who had caught my beautiful mate keeping her from hitting the floor in a heap. His eyes danced over her face, I growled louder making his eyes snap to mine.

I went over to take her from him, but he quickly stood with her and backed away from me. I felt my canines slip out as I dared him to do something, my claws came out ripping my fingernails away as they did. "Give me my mate!" I snarled at him.

"She isn't your mate, and she is my wife, not yours." He glared at me. I only growled at him trying to force my aura over him, but it did nothing to him. Brooklyn's skin prickled with goosebumps as my aura washed over her and not the scumbag holding her.

When a whimper left her lips because of how strong it was, I reined it back and away from her. Ryan smirked at me, but he hadn't noticed the mark on her neck, he will not be smirking long when he sees it.

I looked at his hands as they held her, her head falling back over his arm. I balled my hands into fists as he took a step back with her. Ezekiel saw red and lurched forward, he turned around with Brooklyn sharply.

I gripped the back of his neck and pulled him back into the apartment.

Not realizing how rough I was being when I did, Ryan instinctively let her go to grab at my hands. I heard her head bounce off of the floor as she hit it.

That only made me more angry, I pushed him away from me making him fall to the floor, I crouched over her and turned her head to examine where she hit it. Any injuries won't be good for her shift tonight. It could delay her transformation, and for a wolf like Zena who is still healing from the years of torment I couldn't take any chances.

The moonlight helps with any shift, and if hers was delayed I'm afraid it will stunt Zena from shifting fully. That's why I've been all over her, I was strengthening our bond so she had no reason to fear it once it started.

I heard a groan leave her when my fingers ran over the bump. Brooklyn's eyes opened in a hazy gaze. I leaned down and pressed my lips to her forehead, when I pulled back I gripped her hands and helped her sit up.

"Easy amoureux!" I murmured.

One of her hands went to her head, she hissed slightly then pulled her fingers back feeling the same wetness I did. It wasn't bleeding very much, and would heal in no time.

"I thought I seen, Ryan!" Brooklyn mumbled looking at me confused. I looked behind her and glared at the snake standing near the kitchen area where I tossed him.

I kissed her head again then pressed my forehead on hers. "That's because you did." I whispered.

Brooklyn moved her head away from mine. She shifted her body and looked behind her. Ryan's gaze went from looking around the apartment to her when he realized she was staring at him.

Her heart was racing in her chest like a humming bird. "H-How?" She asked him in disbelief, Zena was even quiet. It's been nearly 2 months since he died and her seeing him was a shock to the system. I myself couldn't believe it when I first saw him.

He shrugged his shoulders. "I felt my wolf and my body die. I could hear your screams as it happened and I instantly knew I shouldn't have ever hurt you." He grabbed at his hair. "I saw nothing but darkness for the longest while. Then I felt something touch me waking me up only to find I am in the family crypt. Alone."

Brooklyn shook her head. "Leave, I want nothing to do with you!" She said softly and turned back towards me. Ryan took a step closer not understanding what she just said.

I growled at him making him halt. "She asked you to leave!" I snapped at him bringing her closer to me. I could feel how upset she now was along with fear. Her being scared confused me more than her being upset about him being alive.

I watched him closly, I couldn't hear his thoughts and that angered me. I never  trusted him, and him being human wouldn't stop me from nurdering him if he tried to take her away from me.

After a few more seconds he finally sighed deeply and left. I picked her up and brought her back to the bed, I laid her down then got in behind her. "Can you-"

"I already mind-linked them!" I cut her off and kissed her shoulder. Not a second later there was knocking on the door. "It's open," I yelled out to them.

Jordan was the first one to come in, his eyes landed on her instantly. He came over and sat on the floor in front of her, his brows bunched together then he reached out and touched her face with the back of his hand.

"Sissy, you're warm." He replied.

"That's because my wolf is preparing for the shift tonight. She's burrowing beneath my skin!" Brooklyn said quietly. So that's why I couldn't hear her wolf. Levi leaned down and threw my shorts at me and that's when I realized I was still naked. I kissed her shoulder again and got up from the bed and slipping them on.

Jordan spoke softly to his sister while I walked into the kitchen. I grabbed a water from the refriderater. Levi and Zachary following me.

"How the hell is he alive?" Zachary snapped in a low and angry whisper.

"I don't have the slightest idea. She asked him too, I'm not sure even he knows." I said, frustration filled me. Why couldn't she just have a happy and normal life with me without him around?

"He's going to be the reason I die!" I heard Brooklyn say. I set my bottle down and walked back over to her, I placed my hand on her neck and had her lay on her back so she faced me.

"Why do you think that?" I asked her. "You smelt it yourself, he's human now." I reminded her.

"You told me we had 5 happy months together before he came back demanding to be with me. You didn't tell me how I died, but you did say it was because of him." The tone she used as she told me this was filled with worry. Now I know why she's scared. "It's barley been two months, Scott. My timeline is moving faster than the one I-I sa-saw." Her voice cracked once realization hit me.

A growl slipped from me as I remembered how she described me. I'll never allow anybody to take her from me. "I want guards around this apartment building within the hour." I ordered, not wanting any arguements on the matter.

My aura washed over them, I watched them fight to bare their neck at me. They were Alpha's I knew it took alot for them to fight a Lycan aura. A whimper left Brooklyn and I quickly dropped the command, not realizing I let it wash over her again.

"Sorry!" I nuzzled her cheek with my nose. One of her brother cleared their throat, I didn't look up but they still spoke. "I'll have 6 outside and 2 on this floor standing outside the door." Levi said. "And when you arent here and she leaves, one of the guards will accompany her. I'm not risking anything when it comes to her." That Blackwell blood in his veins made me see his mother flash through his eyes when I looked up at him.

"Thank you!" I nodded at him and he looked back at his sister who was staring at the ceiling. Shock was still there for her, so I waited until her brothers left to call and order some food. After it arrived I opened the bag and pulled out the waffles from her favorite diner. Usually they wouldn't deliver but I offered them a hearty tip so they allowed it just this once.

They gave me two plates like I asked. I filled her plate with food then drizzled it with syrup. I grabbed a fork and walked over to where she was. Her nose twitched at the aroma. She blinked and her eyes flitted to me, I gave her smile and offered her my hand.

She glanced at it, but I knew the grumble of her stomach was the only reason she took it. I didn't care though. She was in shock and was starving.

I cut a peice of her waffle and offered her the fork, Brooklyn shook her head, I chuckled as I offered her the peice, her mouth opening for it made my smile widen.

"Screw him, Brooklyn." I cut another piece and she took it from me when I offered it to her.

"It isn't that simple." She said looking into my eyes.

"I think the other me, the me in the other timline or future or whatever it was, went back to him, Scott. I don't understand why I would do that though, he is a narcissist and has always been power hungry." She shook her head."There's no way I would allow myself to go down that rabbit hole again!"

"Why do you think that?" I asked her softly putting the plate on the bed.

"Because he was angry! He despised the sight of me when he saw me." Brooklyn said. "He wanted me dead for breaking his heart." Her eyes brimmed with tears.

I cupped her face with my hands. "I will never harm you, and I've already told you that if I was never enough for you that I'd let you go." Her eyes filled more with tears.

They fell when she shook her head. She sniffled before she leaned forward then rested her cheek on my chest. "I'll never leave you! I'd rather die than go back to him!" She whispered, and I knew she was telling the truth.

It's taken her so long to get past him, not fully but enough to be happy again. I reached down deep for my Lycan. I'd never use him on her but she needed to be reassured that nothing was in the way of our future.

After I shifted, I noticed Ezekiel himself had a gift. He told me about it when he noticed something blocking him from using It. He said he had to ask the Goddess why he couldn't use it like I could mine. She told him it was for our mate, that only she could activate it.

He didn't have to focus very long before he left my head, going over and into her subconscious. He was making her not doubt herself when it came to us. It was like he was imprinting himself on her very core.

With time he would beable to mark Zena. Once he did that our bond would be fully reinforced, tying us together for the rest of our life. Her skin warms up more as she snuggles closer to me. I wrapped my arms around her after moving the pate to the floor, I laid down with her and Brooklyn wrapped her arms around me.

"Always mine!" I mumbled in her ear.

"Forever yours.." She said back.
