Chapter 46

Scott's POV

I sat up uncomfortably on the pull-out in the living room. I looked at my watch and sighed deeply, it was still late in the night.

I wanted to give Brooklyn her space, but space was driving me crazy. My buddies from the Military are at the cottage that was given to me by the old Luna.

Brooklyn's grandmother brought over some food for them and dinner for us before I showed them where the cottage was at.

Deciding on getting some water I got up and off the squeaky bed and walked into the kitchen. I pulled a cup down from the cabinet and turned on the tap.

I sighed before taking a huge gulp of it. I gritted my teeth and placed the cup down on the counter. I pressed my palm to my chest where my heart was. I felt a sudden pain in my heart and it made Ezekiel cry out. I felt tears wanting to form and turned and stared over at the bedroom door, I took another sip of water before going over and opening the door slowly.

I coukd smell the saltiness of her tears, my heart hurt knowing she was in here alone for hours crying alone. Even though she was quiet, I could hear her now that I was in the room with her.

Words would fail me if I tried them so I sagged my shoulders and went over and climed on the bed behind her. For a split second she tensed up not expecting me to be in here let alone in the bed with her. Brooklyn relaxed and grabbed my hand and kissed it before holding it close to her chest.

We didn't speak, I just held her for the rest of the night while she cried feeling sorry for herself.

I woke up the next morning alone, there wasn't anyone in the bed next to me, and the spot next to me was cold. When I got up I went and cheched the bathroom. Also empty. I left the bathroom and went to check the kitchen, leaving the bedroom I looked in the living room to find it empty along with the kitchen.

Seeing a note on the refrigerator I went over and pulled it off.

'Scott,
Brooke had a doctor's appointment for the baby. If you get up before nine then we're at the women's center by the hospital, third floor.
-E'

I checked my watch, damn it was a quarter past ten. I still might have time. I ran back into the room and quickly changed, I grabbed everything I needed before I walked out the front door.

The elevator opened as I was locking the apartment door. I looked over and I had to do a double take to make sure I was seeing clearly. He was in-between Chris and Leroy but that wouldn't stop me.

I nearly broke the key in the lock as I pulled it from the door knob and began stalking towards him. Leroy was the first one to look up from his phone, and before i could grab his scrawny little neck he pushed me back and away from him.

"Leroy, let me go!" I demanded. This is another reason i needed them here. So I couldn't command them to listen to me.

He kept pushing me back. "Damn it, Scotty stop it-"

"No Roy, he touched her with his dirty slimy hands. He is the reason she..." I growled loudly as fur grew on my arms. "He raped my girlfriend. MINE!!!" I yelled at Ryan who only gave me a small yet subtle smirk.

Chris looked at him over his shoulder, ryan quickly dropped it before Chris could see it. Chris, he believed in women's rights where Leroy had to hear everybody's story before he decided on a judgment. And usually by doing that he always got the answer he wanted out of the person accused.

I could easily get out of Leroy's grasp but I didn't want to hurt him. He was an Army Veteran, he had enough pain to deal with without me adding to it.

Leroy and Chris swapped places but not before I tried to lunge myself at him. It took both of them to haul my ass back. I knew my eyes were a bright shade of blue, and anybody with a wolf in the building better steer clear of me or my aura may drop them.

"Why are you here?" Leroy asked him, he placed his hands behind his back and paced in front of him the way a drill Sergeant would.

"Umm...I, I ummm-"

I don't speak in one syllable words son, now answer the question. Why are you here?" He asked again.

Ryan I could tell was getting embarrassed and angry with somebody questioning him.

Ryan's face turned red in anger, his bipolar ass I k ew wouldn't last long. "And who the hell are you to question why I am here?" He finally snapped at Leroy.

"You have no idea who we are do you?" He asked him and Ryan turned his face away from him, uncaring.

"You are human, just like me! Nobody special." Ryan spit.

"Well...you are half right." Leroy stopped pacing anf stood right in front of him. "I am human, yes. But I am far more superior than you ever was as a wolf." Once he finished his sentence Leroy turned away from him and Ryan balled his hands up into fists.

He acted like he wanted to but Leroy, but he didn't he took a deep breath and turned away from him.

I tried to listen to Chris as he spoke calming words that used to work on calming me down when we were stationed together durring active duty. Ryan pushed the button for the elevator consistently until it dinged.

But when it opened none of us were expecting to see Brooklyn standing there holding a sleeping Tyler. I saw red, and pushed past both Chris and Leroy. Just as she looked up I pushed him into the back wall of the elevator making her scream in shock. Ryan hit his head on the wall and fell to the ground, as I stood over him.

Tyler woke up and began crying due to being startled awake by Brooklyn screaming. I turned to her and went to comfort her started nephew but she held him closer and stepped closer to the furthest wall away from me and Ryan.

"Scott?" She called, her voice a little shaky as she glanced down at him before she looked up at me. I'll never get tired of seeing the different color in her brown eyes now, but it did make me miss Zena.

"He was leaving miss, but when the doors opened and we saw you, lover boy here got a bit over protective." Leroy told her. I rolled my eyes at what he called me.

When Brooklyn couldn't calm Tyler down I held my hands out to take him once again. She looked fown at Ryan again before taking a tentative step closer and giving him to me and going back to the wall.

Chris kicked Ryan's legs out of the way and offered her his hand, he stood so she wouldn't have to look or see Ryan laying there.

She looked up at me and I nodded my head once. She reachef out and placed her hand in his and he gave her his charming smile to which she blushed. I went up and walked with her back to the apartment door.

"I would have went with you had I known!" I told her slightly hurt she didn't tell me.

"You were asleep. I didn't want to wake you up." She shrugged her shoulders and pulled out her keys. After unlocking the door we stepped inside.

"Where are Evan and Bailey?" I asked her, I wiped Tyler's face to rid it of tears and snot. He wasn't crying but he was still a little shaken from being woken up so abruptly.

"They both got called into work." She said. "They offered to take Tyler to mom but I told them I would watch him for them." I smiled at her. Brooklyn came up to me and brushed some of Tyler's hair from his face, he reached out for her and she gladly took him.

"Aunty Brooke, is sorry she woke you up buddy!" She cooed at him and went over and sat on the couch with him. And in an instant Trolls found it's way on the tv, and the little tyke was in a happy mood instantly.

"Mrs. Da-" I cleared my throat loudly stopping Leroy.

"Please, don't call me that! I know legally it's still my name but...please don't call me by his name?" She asked him and brought her legs up on the couch as Tyler sat beside her chewing on a cheese stick that Chris gave him..

"Sorry ma'am." He smiled and tipped his cowboy hat at her.

"Leroy, right?" He nodded his head with a smile that showed off his perfectly white teeth. "Please stop calling me 'ma'am' that would be my mother not me." She made a face just thinking about being called the endearment.

"I mean no harm by it. Where I'm from miss, ma'am is a term of endearment, or one of respect. Your age don't just come into play with it." Brooklyn smiled at him.

"Well if you want to use a last name for me, I have two maiden names because I have two dads." Leroy chuckled at her but nodded his head.

"Im not agaisnt men loving other men!" This time it was brooklyn who giggled. "No sir, I have two dads because my mother has two mates." He stopped smiling and thought for a second.

"I thought you could only have one? Excuse me if im a bit rusty. I've only been on the council for fifteen years and I am still learning." She nodded at him.

"Usually yes, we are paired off to only one other person my mother however was the exception because of her wolf. She was the first Luna and borh of my dads who were originally twins when us wolves were created are now cousins today, they were the first Alphas." She explained it to him and he honestly still looked confused.

"And your siblings?" He asked.

Brooklyn giggled lightly. "My older sister Bailey and my brother Jordan have the same father, Noah Evans. And Levi, Zachary and myself have the same father, Wyatt Nichols." I felt nothing but pride roll off of her as she told him who her and her siblings parents were.

"Then in that case, Ms. Nichols, I have a favor to ask of you. I know it isn't something you will like, that is why I am asking you first." He took his hat off and rested it against his chest, she raised a eyebrow at him while opening another cheese stick for Tyler.

He scratched the back of his head. I had taught both Leroy and Chris how to not think of things they didn't want me to know when I was around, so I had no clue what he wanted from her.

"Your ex-husband. The one out cold in the elevator? I would like to bring him in the apartment and question him!" I stared at him as fury filled my core. How could he ask her such a thing? He saw how she reacted when she realized it was him I knocked out.

"Are you gonna ask him why he keeps showing up here?" I looked down at her. She avoided looking at me but I could hear her thoughts loud and clear. She looked up at me for a split second before she suddenly blocked me off from hearing them.

I see someone has figured out how to use her magic without her wolf's help. I thought loudly, and I saw her smile to herself.before she cleared her throat.

"What do mean by that ma'am? How often has he been showing up here?" Chris asked her, being around Leroy for a few days anyone would pick up his manners.

"Everyday since it happened!" She mumbled to herself. My friends didn't hear her but I did.

"So for a week, he has been showing up here?" I asked her.

"The first day he showed up, was the day you left, Scott." She looked up at me with glassy eyes. "I thought it was Felicity." Tyler grabbed a handful of her hair but she quickly reacted before he pulled on it too harshly. Once it was free she put her hair up in a pony tail.

"And after that?" I probed.

She finished tying her hair up and sighed. "On day two I was expecting a delivery of groceries. When I opened the door, he was there holding them in his hands." She shivered. "I told Evan about it over the phone and he told Bailey, so that's why they are here, but..." She stopped unsure of what to say.

"We are here to try andconvict him of attempted murder, kidnapping, coercion, rape and drugging a female with unknown substances with intent of sexual intercourse." Chris told her and her eyes were wide as she looked at him.

Then her gaze moved to me. "Scott, are you guys going after him for trying to kill me before he was killed himself? He is human now!"

I nodded once. "We are. I've already spoke to your cousin Caleb about the surveillance footage from the hospital."

She shook her head, I could tell she didnt agree with what we were doing but I didn't care. "As I was saying, Ryan, he knows when there aren't any guards at my apartment or when Evan or Bailey are at work." I heard her heart rate pick up. "He can't know when they get called into work, and the shifts for the guards are random, Jordan made sure of that when he brought me home."

"That's why I want to question him." Leroy told her. She glanced up at me unsure how to answer him.

I leaned down and placed my arms on the back of the couch. "It isn't up to me, amoureux. This is your apartment, if you don't want him in the building we will call the local police to have someone remove him. But if you agree with Leroy and let him question him, I would like you and Tyler in the bedroom please?" She looked down at Tyler then over at Leroy.

"Ten minutes. I don't care if he answers your questions or not. I can't stand the idea of him in my home," her hand landed on top of mine. "our home." then she squeezed my hand. At first I thought she was talking about her and the baby, not me and her. I smiled at her and brought her hand up and kissed it.

"By doing this, do you agree to let them record an interview of you detailing everything that happened before, durring and after the attack?" I asked her softly.

"It has to be recorded? In detail?" She asked me, panic starting to settle in her eyes.

"Since the pack is without a Luna we can have Caleb's mate come and sit with you durring the interview? She is the next Luna of the sister pack right?"  I asked her.

"Amiee? Poor thing would probably faint when I say tbere was a gun pointed at you, I don't think she would beable to sit with me, Scott." She chewed on her bottom lip and looked down.

"I know who to call." I told her and she nodded. I looked down at Tyler, he was getting sleepy again. "Why don't you go and lay down with him while we bring Ryan in if he's still out there." She nodded and picked Tyler up.

Brooklyn rubbed his back as she got up from the couch and I watched her walk away from me.

When I arrived last night I could still smell her potent scent indicating her heat was still ravaging her body, but today it was like she was back to her old self. Either her body finally registered she was pregnant or the doctor gave her something.
