Chapter 22

"When I gave a fuck, I was taken for granted." I watched Brooklyn's eyes slowly close as she talked nonchalantly. She was laying on the living room floor, as the tv played random movies she and I would pick out.

"But when I said 'fuck it' I became the bad person... so, fuck them all!" I sat up on the couch and grabbed a slice of pizza from the box beside her.

"Fuck them all!" I repeated with a chuckle. "Sounds like a really good motto to live by."

She turned onto her side and looked at me after propping her head up on her hand. "I have a question, well more like a request?"

Clearly those pot brownies have affected her more than they did me, I haven't heard her talk as much as she has tonight. "And what would that be?"

"Can I see your lycan?" I bit into my cold slice of pizza and stood up, then offered her my hand. "Only if I can see your wolf, I know Zena has been dying to shift."

Her hand found mine so I pulled her up from the floor, her hair falling from the bun she had it in. "It's not that I don't want to shift, I'm just not ready for the pain that will follow."

"Because of, Ryan?" She nodded her head. I remember reading about the affects a mate will go through when being cheated on. It makes it to where wanting to shift is  as painful if not worse than the first time.

I gave her an encouraging smile. I walked to the side door by the dining table, I turned on the light for the back porch and we both stepped outside.

I could see snow on the ground, I wasn't cold and was hoping she wasn't either. "I'll go first." I turned to face her as I pulled my shirt off. Her eyes went from my face to my body.

She never saw me when we had sex, and I'm sure she has imagined what I looked like since then. I smirked at her, and she looked away an obvious blush on her cheeks now.

"Jerk.." She mumbled glancing back at me, I had taken my pants off when she looked back at me, and I wasn't wearing anything under my sweat pants so I was fully bare.

Completely exposed for her to see.

"Do you.." She cleared her throat. "Do you stand on your hind legs or are you more like us?" She asked.

"Both.." The dark brown fur of my lycan began to appear on my arms, chest, and legs. "Standing is good when you are dealing with an enemy, we run faster on them too. But we can run on all 4 but our hind legs are taller than that of a wolf and we are much bigger."

Brooklyn nodded her head and, it didn't take me long to shift into Ezekiel's true form.

I was 6 foot even, but in his form we stood over 7 feet. Her breathing I heard stopped for a mere second before she let it out.

"He's so..." She came up to me and touched our stomach, then looked up. "...beautiful!"

"Your turn amoureux!" I placed my hand on her face and she leaned into it. "I can hear Zena, she wants to try!" She stepped away from me and looked away as she took her clothes off.

Brooklyn knelt down and with a deep breath I heard the first of bones crack as her body began to shift into her wolf. Her fingers dug into the snow covered ground when more broke and realinged.

From what I could tell, it was taking everything in her to do this. When one of her legs broke, I heard the faintest of whimpers come from her.

And just when I thought she'd given up fur began to grow on her skin and her eyes changed into the blue ones of her wolf. Even in the cold weather I could see small beads of sweat showing up on her skin.

Taking in 2 deep breaths she let out a scream and began changing forms, hands and feet turned to paws. Nose into a snout then finally she fell onto her belly when she was fully shifted.

I could see the air fog up with each breath she let out. I got down and rubbed a hand down the smooth fur of her back, some parts weren't as smooth even had patches of fur missing.

"Does she always look so sickly?" I asked her, her fur I could tell was almost the same color of her hair like she told me it was, but she was small for a wolf that had parents as strong as hers.

"Not at first, only in the past year in a half." Her voice flitted through my head softer than what I'm used to when she speaks to me. "Well she still looks beautiful, amoureux"

"Thank you..."

**********

Around 12 the next day I awoke to something falling and hitting the floor. I looked around and found that I was alone. After running for less than 10 minutes last night I found that Brooklyn was more tired than excited to go out for a run.

I knew her wolf was weak, I just didn't think she was that weak. Before we made it back she passed out, which was probably a good thing because she would have shifted back without all the extra pain and energy going fourth to help make it happen.

I sat up when I heard something else hit the floor. I was already on high alert when I heard the first crash, now there here was another.

"Brooklyn?" I called out as I stood from the bed. I started walking to the bathroom door, but her heartbeat was coming from the one outside the room.

Maybe she was preparing to take a shower and dropped something? So with that in mind I walked out of the room and went to grab my phone when I smelt it.

I turned around and just looked at the door, my heart beginning to beat a little faster. "Brooke? Is everything alright?" I asked her then stepped up to the door.

I tried turning the knob when she didn't answer me, but it was locked. I rammed into it. "Come on damn it.." I muttered when the door only creaked.

Instead of trying to break the door down I linked all 4 of her siblings. I wasn't sure who was busy and who was free.

The first to show up was Levi, he only had a pair of loose shorts on, he went to speak when his face paled. He must smell the wolfsbane and the blood that I smell.

"Is she talking?" I shook my head, he teleported and the next I heard was movements in the bathroom. The door unlocked and I slowly opened it.

"Why would you do this? You're stronger than anything and everyone I know." Levi cried. I was frozen at the door of the bathroom I looked at the blood on the floor and I instantly remembered.

I forgot to hide my razor.

He scooped her up, her eyes opened for a second then closed again.

"I can't focus when I'm emotional, drive us to the clinic. Uriel should beable to help her." I nodded my head and ran to the kitchen for my keys.

Grabbing them we both ran out of the house.

About 20 minutes later I came to a screeching halt outside of the clinic, Dr. Jarvis was already standing there waiting. It was a weekend so he was in casual clothing.

He had the front door opened and was holding it as both me and Levi stumbled out of the truck. "Do you know how much she took?"

"I didn't even know she had it...but the blade she used was mine, it was silver. I forgot to hide it after her wolf told me what her intentions were last night."

No one spoke, we all just went inside and he told Levi to put her down in the first room.

The man stopped me and we both watched as Levi walked into a room. "I have to call her mother, he won't beable to do much of anything. He's always been the softest of his siblings."

I nodded and I watched his eyes glaze over. Less than a minute later her mother was standing in front of us. Her nose scrunched up from the 2 scents, then turned around.

"You said you needed me to heal someone, you didn't tell me it was my own child." She didn't ask any questions, she made her way towards the room with us following her.

Levi rushed to the door with watery eyes. "Mom.. I can't, she stopped-" she patted his cheek then went into the room. Her skin was pale under the luminescence of the bright light. The floor had blood on it from the arm resting beside her. Her mother grabbed both of her hands and tried to heal her, but it wasn't working. "Why isn't is working?"

Her eyes roamed her daughter then grabbed Levi's hand. "Help me.." He nodded his head and placed his hands over his mother's.

"Mom we had an issue healing her when she was in the hospital too. It took all 4 of us to heal one broken rib." He told her and her eyes widened. "Call your siblings, Uriel we need to wrap these up if we can't heal her."

He went over grabbing things he needed. Jordan and Zachary walked into the room, Bailey looked like she just got out of bed. Well that was fast.

"Whathappened?" Jordan went over and kneeled down where her head was.

"She tried to kill herself." Levi told him.

"I knew that she would do something like this when we were told the baby might not make it." Bailey pushed her way over to her sister too.

Her heart was beating slower than it was when we walked in. Her mother's eyes turned white and so did her kids, Zachary was at her feet so he placed his hands on her legs as they all tried to heal her.

Uriel worked around them as he wrapped up her wounds. He even had a blood bag that I never seen him leave to get. He hooked her up to an IV and attached the blood to it. "Does it usually take this long?" He asked me when he was finished doing everything. "No, it should take just a few seconds." I answered him.

Brooklyn's eyes opened, they changed from hers to a white like everyone else. But they didn't stay that way, Uriel was fidgeting uncomfortably as her eyes began to turn black.

Her mom gasped and pulled her hands away then grabbed the 2 beside her. "Stop, let her go." The moment everyone moved away it was then they seen her eyes, Bailey went to grab her hand but an invisible wall stooped her from touching her.

"She has a force so much stronger than all of us combined." Zachary mumbled. "Scott, see if she'll let you touch her." Levi told me, I didn't hesitate to go over and try.

When my hand touched the skin on her face a small smile formed on my lips. The sparks that flowed when our skin connected was magical, her eyes went from black to the blue of her wolf.

"I tried to stop her, but she blocked me out. Her strength is so strong, and I know if she knew she had this kind of power she would have died long ago." Zena said, her eyes wanting to close again but she fought them open. "Selene, wants to help but she don't know how. She has to talk to her brother about getting him to help."

I kept her wolf awake, long enough for someone to touch her and heal what they could before Brooklyn put her protective shield back up. When Jordan nodded at me and let her go it was then I noticed that I was feeling pain in my chest, it wasn't my pain though...it was hers. With her wolf in charge she's allowling us to help her human.

"When Brooklyn is in charge she puts up the magical barrier that makes us immune. But when it's me I drop it, I don't think she knows it's there." She smiled at me. "Teach her how to use these gifts or the dark side will pull her in."

Her eyes closed again and stayed like that. I was a little taken aback by everything she said, so she don't know she has these powers, but is being influenced by the black magic that is in all witches.

"That's the aura Wyatt told us about. It's pure black magic that radiates off of her when she feels overwhelmed or unhappy with someone or something." Her mom shook her head. "This isn't good if she is immune to our powers, who knows what goes through her head when she feels it."
