Chapter 21
"Scott, let me go!" Brooklyn fought to get me off of her but I refused to let her go while she was still angry and hurt and in the mood to break down at any given time.
I put my chin on her shoulder and mumbled. "I will never let go."
She slowed down her hitting and scratching and soon enough it stopped all together. Brooklyn's shoulders started to shake as I heard cries begin escaping her.
I loosened my hold on her so I could turn her around and hold her that way but she shocked me and did it herself. "Please promise me you won't hurt me the way he did?"
"I haven't yet have I?" I asked her. "No, but, it took Ryan 3 years before he did."
I held her a little tighter as she cried. And as much as it bothered me, I knew she wasn't just crying over the loss of her child.
"Are you hungry?" I asked her, she nodded her head then pulled away from me and went over and sat on the couch.
I walked behind her and picked up the remote and gave it to her. "I'm not sure what you like but I have Netflix!" She nodded her head again so I left her alone and went into the kitchen.
I rumaged through my cabinets and refrigerator for something that hasn't expired, I groaned when I found nothing edible.
I went back over to her and sat down a little frustrated. "I have nothing here that's still good to eat."
She looked over at me and gave me a small smile. "I can link someone to bring us something? Or to bring your truck here if you perfer?" She was too kind, even now.
She literally just had some kind of powerful aura flow through her and she was asking me if I wanted my truck.
"No, you relax. I'll handle it! And if you want, I know you don't have clothes here, but if you want a shower I can give you some of mine?"
I watched her bite down on her bottom lip but she shook her head. "I'm fine.."

"Thank you, Evan!" I took the bag from him, he stuffed his hands in his pockets as he looked down.
"No problem. Her parents told me to tell you that her room would be ready by tommorrow and you can bring your things by whenever you're ready." He looked back up, but he looked past me.
I turned my head hearing the bathroom door creak open and her walk out. She noticed Evan but didn't acknowledge his presence when she laid back down on the couch.
"Bailey, put a few things in the bag to help her feel better." I looked back at him. "Brooke, will know what to do with it because she's had it before. Just tell her Bailey made it a little stronger this time?" I nodded my head, I didn't even have to ask any questions.
I thought it was a little funny to be honest that he couldn't just tell me out right that his wife had provided weed for her sister. "Is it an edible or the actual stuff she has to smoke?"
He chuckled. "Both actually!"
I nodded my head once. "Well, thank you again. I told her I'd get some pizza delivered but she didn't tell me what she liked." He smiled. "Meat lovers and the one with pineapple on it!" He visibly cringed.
He gave me a thumbs up, then yelled bye to Brooklyn who didn't reply back to him, then shifted into his dark brown wolf and took off.
I pulled out my phone and quickly ordered some food, as I was on the phone I brought Brooklyn her bag and told her what Evan had told me.
Just as I was getting done with the call I seen her get up and go back into the bathroom, then I heard the shower start. And as much as I wanted to join, I was being a respectable person by staying at the table, waiting on the food to arrive.
After half an hour she was still in there, the food arrived 10 minutes ago.
I got up from my spot and went up to the door, then knocked softly. "Everything alright, Brooklyn?" Even her wolf was quiet, I'd gotten so used to hearing her even when Brooklyn didn't speak to me.
I reached for the handle, it wasn't locked so I knocked as I opened the door. I could hear her heart beating calmly and I didn't want to scare her.
"Brooke?" I called out. Her bag was still zipped up, and the water was still running in the shower. As I got closer, I could see why she wasn't answering me.
Sitting in a corner of the shower surrounded by the steam of the water, was a sleeping Brooklyn.
I turned the water off and grabbed a towel wrapping it around her. As I lifted her up she leaned into me more but never woke up.
I placed her on the bed and decided to just cover her up with the blanket. When I turned to leave I heard a purr escape her and a hand grab mine.
When I looked back at her I noticed it wasn't Brooklyn, but it was her wolf Zena. "Hey amoureux."
"Hi.." I smiled and interlocked our fingers then took a seat beside her. "You've never smiled at me before, Scott!" It took me a moment to realize that I still was doing just that.
"Maybe it's because I've never had a reason to do it before." I told her softly and she frowned. "What I mean is, I never show my emotions. But the more I'm around you the more comfortable I get."
She nodded her head. "You may want to keep an eye on her. She kept fighting me for control in the bathroom until she got too exhausted and fell asleep."
"Why did you take over? What happened?" I asked rubbing my thumb on her hand.
"She can move past Ryan, that much I know. But the loss of the baby...I've known since we came home what she's been wanting to do." I went to take my hand away and she tightened her hold and placed the other over them. "Your razor is made of silver razor blades, you may want to hide that."
"Why didn't you call out to, Ezekiel?" I asked her. I hated that I never noticed that before, silver didn't affect lycans the way it did them. "I did. I guess she found a way to keep it from being heard."
I nodded my head. "Thank you for telling me." I looked back at the door where we entered the bedroom. "Would you like to get dressed?"
She nodded her head. I let go of her hand went and got the bag in the bathroom, and brought it back in for her. "When you're ready, I can warm up the pizza for you."
I went back to the door, and forced my feet to keep moving so I wouldn't cross the line.
"Scott, she isn't afraid of you." My lycan told me as we fell on the couch. "She wouldn't have trusted us that night we were with her if she was scared."
I knew he was right, but I didn't trust myself to be around her with no clothes on. That night we did get to be with her was to help the pain and to get back at Ryan.
But I had to stop myself a few times from wanting to mark her. Even after she had went to sleep.
A few moments passed when the bedroom door opened, the first thing I noticed was this was Brooklyn. She held up the brownie "want some?"
I chuckled, like actually chuckled and she looked at me confused for a second. "Did I say something funny?" Her face was turning red as she became embarrassed.
"No.." I shook my head and chuckled again. "You don't want some of the pizza I got?"
She nodded her head. "I do, but I won't find the will to want to eat it. That's probably why Bailey gave this to me. She did the same thing when I began staying with her because I wouldn't eat much of anything."
She pulled a plate down and grabbed a knife, she cut the peice she had in half. "Evan said it was strong, but I honestly can't tell. My senses haven't came back fully."
"So you can't smell that?" A sheepish smile appeared on her face. "In werewolf terms no. But in human, yes I can tell what it is."
I got up and walked over to where she was at. I held my hand out for the knife and she gave it to me. I cut the 2 halves in thirds, then picked up a peice and offered it to her. "I think this should be fine, but if you want more I think half of a piece would do."
"Thank you..." She took the peice from me. "The thing about her making these, her baked goods are so much better than her actual food." She went to say something else but shook her head and moved to the couch.
I grabbed a peice and followed after her. "If you are gonna get baked I can join so you aren't alone." She giggled lightly and rolled her eyes.
