Chapter Thirty
Tristan POV
"This hall is so beautiful, the mansion looks so huge. I wonder if he built this mansion from the money he makes from business or he has another means of getting money" she said as we walked around the compound, strolling gently with her hand on my chest and my hand placed on her waist.
"It's the only mansion in this estate. That man is a wealthy man, he's also a mafia. He once told me to join them but I refused, my father wasn't part of it, and he would have never wanted me to be part of something like this, so I'll never be part of it"
"How sure are you that your father was never part of it?"
"I trust him and I know how much he hate shady stuff"
"If I tell you something about our fathers, will you believe me?"
"I won't, especially if you're planning on telling me that my father was a mafia"
"Just wanted to pull your legs but you trust your father so much"
"He's worthy of being trusted unlike someone's father"
"Can you ever forget what my father did to your family?"
"I might! If you prove that you're loyal and you don't betray my trust"
"I promise that I'll never betray you and I'll be loyal to you, you have my loyalty now, forever and always"
"I just hope that you'll keep to your promise because the Darwin's are known to be promise breaker"
"I'm different"
"No one will ever admit that they're like others especially when others are bad"
"I'm really different and I'll show you"
"I'll remind you that you said that you're different when you finally behave like the Darwin that you are"
"You'll never have a chance to remind me of what I said because when I pledge my loyalty, I mean it and I'll never say what I don't mean or go back on my words"
"You and your father must have been really close since there was no other child or mother. Just the both of you, how come you're the nice and soft hearted? Or is this a pretence? We can never tell actually" I shrugged as we strolled around the mansion staring and admiring the whole exterior decorations.
"We might have been the only one together but father will rather travel for a vacation alone than spend a weekend with me. We were more like strangers who were just living in the same house, because flatmates don't behave like that these days but I'm happy that I finally moved out of there. I'm scared"
"That's funny to me though, I thought that you're just a rude spoilt brat who's just like her father but I guess that you can never judge a book by its cover but your cover ain't nice at all" I laughed while she eyed me in annoyance before she also bursted into a fit of laughter, I never knew that she can be so fun to be with, I just strongly hope and pray that I won't regret this moment.
"You're so funny"
"Ohh, please spare me the flatter. They can never be a dull moment with me around you"
She chuckled, " can we step out of the mansion and walk around this locality. This place looks like an isolated area and it looks so nice"
"Yeah, wealthy people and living a lowkey life, 5 & 6. Or who would have thought that there's such an amorous and perfectly built mansion in this place. It looks so shady and great for the type of job he's involved in''
"We want to step out of the premises to look around this locality, just for fresh air" I told one of the guards in case anything happens and I'm unable to call, at least someone knows about my movement, I still can't trust Natalie these days, a day again.
"Ohh okay sir. Get back quickly, the storm is already brooming"
"Storm? Can't you see that the sky is clear and beautiful? There's no traces of storm in this sky, boy" I muttered as I walked away with Natalie.
"It's so funny how we were never friends even when our fathers were best friends. I didn't even know that you existed"
"What do you mean by you didn't know that I existed? Have you forgotten that we went to the same elementary school? We even attended the same secondary school before I left for the states after my father's death. What do you mean by that statement?"
"Are you saying that we went to the same elementary school, and we even attended the same secondary school but I don't even remember anything about all that. I don't even remember the secondary school I went to"
"How's that possible?"
"I don't know but the last time I asked father about me forgetting my past, he just shrugged it off saying that it's because they were not important and I also forgot about the matter"
"Your childhood memories ain't important, what does he mean by that statement?"
"Let's not spoil the mood with talks about me. The sky looks so beautiful tonight, the moon is bright but why can't I see the mansion again? Tristan, where are we?" She asked as she grabbed my hand.
"Let me check with the Google map" I muttered as I tried to take my phone out of my pocket when a droplet of rain fell on my head.
"Did you feel that?"
"What?"
"The rain"
"Yes, that guard was right. The rain is getting heavier, let's hide in the cottage"
We ran to the empty cottage we found in the middle of nowhere. It was so frustrating that I was outside by this time of the day especially in this weather. I just hope that I don't act up but is it something I can prevent?
"Tristan! Are you okay?"
"Yes! I'm fine, don't I look fine"
I began to bleed without knowing what had just pierced me.
“Nooooooo!!!” Natalie screamed…
