Chapter 36

Tristan POV

One month later...

"Careful Elvis! You don't want to hurt yourself." I said to prevent him from jumping into the pool. As he continued playing with his toy, I began to reminisce back to everything that happened over the course of one month.

I could still hear the words of the doctor to Natalie and myself. I had escaped the hands of death because the bullet missed my heart by an inch.

Everything had changed since that moment, the company was back to fully functioning and I had dropped all shady deals that Cole had signed using the company's influence. The underworld had gone back to the way it used to be, with Scorpion being given a befitting tribute by every gang out there

I suddenly felt arms wrapped around my torso and her cologne would always mesmerise me. She placed a kiss on my neck, as I squeezed her hands gently.

"You know something babe, I have been thinking we should move out of our comfort zone. This house would always bring trauma or past events and we want to be happy right?" Natalie suggested it and I agreed with her.

"I will definitely work on that for sure." We both watched as Elvis rolled over the other side of the poolside, making Natalie and I laugh at the scene.

"I have been thinking of something lately." I began.

"I know you may not like what I am about to say, but hear me out. We need to go pay a last tribute to Cole." She dropped her hands off my shoulders immediately.

"You must be joking right? This was the man that nearly killed you! He made my life miserable and should I begin to remind you he killed Scorpion as well? I cannot do that." Natalie says walking around to come have a seat beside me.

"Look I know everything you just said is the truth, but he was still a friend before he became an enemy. He was also your lover as well.." I teased, but she pushed my hands away.

"Do you think it is right to go visit his grave yard though?" She asked after a short moment of silence filled with reflection.

"Who is stopping us? We can get it done this evening. We don't need to do too much, we just need to go and drop some flowers at the grave and that's all." I explained.

"Fine, we won't take time though."

I smiled, pulling her closer and crashing my lips on hers. We shared intimacy in the kiss savouring the taste of each other.

"Eeww! That's disgusting!" Elvis' expression forces us to break away and laugh.

I felt a sense of purpose, knowing that everything was back in peace.

Natalie POV

The route to the graveyard was in the outskirts of the city. Tristan had suggested we brought flowers and dressed in black attires to pay tribute to Cole. I may not like the idea of seeing Cole's grave, but one thing was certain, he changed everything about my family.

Making our way through the cemetery, we would arrive at his grave yards minutes later and I was particularly surprised by the sight of a familiar face kneeling before his grave.

"Leila?" I called and she turned around to look at us.

"Oh hey!" She said getting up to her feet and wiping the tears in her eyes. She rushed to engulf me in a warm hug and we remained in that position for some time.

"What are you doing here?" I asked the moment we broke free from the hug.

"I came to drop some flowers at his grave." Leila revealed with teary eyes. I couldn't make up the reasons for her tears, they didn't make any sense to me.

"I know it sounds ridiculous after everything he has put me through, but then I have a confession to make." She said, searching my eyes. "I found out I was having a baby for Cole."

This revelation had me in shock as I turned to look at Tristan, who was also shocked as well. Leila's affiliation with Cole in the past to spite me might have just had its consequences.

"When did you find out?" I asked.

"Just early this month. I noticed strange signs in my body and I went to do a test and was told I was pregnant by Cole." I pulled her closer to me again consoling her.

"It's alright Leila. No child should be born without a father. I guess fate allowed this to happen." I revealed.

Once I broke free from the hug, I grabbed my flowers from Tristan and we both headed towards his grave, where his name was boldly written on the inscription.

All the trauma I had to go through in his hands playing before my eyes as we placed the flowers gently at the same side Leila had done hers.

"Leila, you deserve better. I am going to make sure that you get the health assurance you need for the baby to be born to the world." I was assured.

"How can I thank you enough sister? After everything I had done to you, I made life miserable for both Tristan and you. I am really grateful." She said crying out, while Tristan also steps forward to console her.

"I just want you to know something Leila. Cole might be dead, but you are part of the family. We have to collectively come together and raise this child and teach them good morals. I am solidly supporting you." Tristan said with a smile.

"Thank you very much, the both of you. I will never forget this moment."

As we stepped out of the cemetery, I knew that a life without Cole was about to be peaceful. Leila's news was a priority and I was going to make sure she gave birth peacefully. As Tristan drove through the long express road, I placed my hand on his and he turned to look at me with a smile. I turned around to see Leila holding Elvis and playing with him and soon realised that this was all I ever wanted, a big happy family.
