Chapter Six
NATALIE POV
My eyes flunked open, and I was embraced by darkness.
This was certainly an infamous territory.
The headache wouldn't go away and I felt my entire body was on fire.
"Hello? Anyone here!" I tried to speak.
"Where am I? Tristan?" I tried to be more audible, but the silence had obviously engulfed the place.
Slowly, I got up with the support of the wall.
I couldn't determine if the room was small or large. However, I knew it was certainly empty.
I felt iron bars standing in my path and figured this would be the single door available.
I managed to get to the door, but my heart was still pounding in my chest.
The door was locked, and this created an entire sense of anxiety. "Anyone here! Please let me out!" I yelled at the top of my voice while banging on the door very hard.
I turned my back against the door, frustration washing over my existence. I couldn't determine if I had been kidnapped.
I couldn't make sense of anything.
Memories of gunshots and a pain in my neck, coupled with Tristian yelling my name, were the things I could remember.
Once again, I summoned the courage to get up to my feet. I had several questions on my mind, and the more they kept coming, the more my fear accelerated.
The moment I thought I had lost all hope, my ears picked up on a walking step, which seemed to have stopped outside the room.
I moved back a little when the door opened silently and Tristan was standing before me, his aura filling the room.
"Thank goodness you are awake." His voice was a little bit low.
Anger crept through my entire body. "What sort of madness is this? Where is this place?" I questioned.
"One thing I can assure you about is your safety. Everything here is safe and okay." He mentioned.
"I don't think I am safe. First of all Tristan, I was shot at the back, and now I have been kidnapped. So what do you mean by safe?" The tone of my voice was high, but I would care less.
"Look, this is not the place nor the time to start this explanation." He said. "The first thing you need is a total fixing of your body."
I pressed my hand against the back of my neck, and I felt a sharp pain.
I felt a bandage on it for the first time. How haven't I noticed this before now?
"A bullet grazed you in the car, but you will be perfectly fine." His voice was narrow, and as I got closer, another wave of dizziness hit me.
I felt arms around my back, preventing me from falling. "I got you."
Despite how his voice was soothing and assuring, I didn't find Tristian a familiar person again. He was a man filled with hidden secrets, and I could only wonder how deadly these secrets were.
After some minutes, he hoisted me up, and we stepped out of the room to a medical room, which was small in size.
It had various medical equipment as well.
Gently, he laid my body down on a bed, and despite how he moved about gathering several kits, he didn't seem frightened. He was certainly composed.
"Your wounds are open, and they will need cleaning." He almost sounded like a doctor at that moment.
I watched as he strapped the gloves on his hands. "This is going to be a little bit painful, but trust me, it will be over soon."
I hoped to trust him; however, my mind was still searching for answers to the actual identity of Tristian.
He was an enigma.
Tristan carried me to a small medical room, filled with various medical supplies and equipment. He gently laid me down on the examination table, his hands moving swiftly and surely as he examined my wound.
"I'm going to clean and dress this," he said, his voice calm and professional. "It's going to sting a bit, but I promise it will be over soon."
While he worked on my injury, I observed that his eyes were staring deep into mine, as though he could see my soul.
His touch sent shocks down my spine through the pain and fear I was experiencing.
"They're all done. I promise you will be okay." He looked around. "All that is needed is to find a way to get you out of here."
"What happened to your car?" I asked.
"You wouldn't want to see the sight of that car. Lucky enough, the emergency unit was there to help us through." He explained.
Emergency unit? Who are these people?
The door would suddenly burst open, and a group of men all armed up in suites would step into the room.
"It's alright. We are saved." He assured me, seeing how frightened I had become.
"We searched the areas, sir; the culprit seems to know how to clean up their tracks nicely." One of the men said, The moment we stepped into the car,.
"I don't care how you find them. All I need from you is to make sure you bring them to me alive. They will pay seriously."
"One last thing, boss. Some of the goods have been hijacked on the road."
I looked up towards the man and then back to Tristan, who kept mute.
"What goods? What are you both even talking about?" I asked.
"I have warned you several times. Never discuss business in front of anyone who is not me!" He was infuriated, and this left me in absolute curiosity.
"Does your business culminate in the reason I was almost killed? Are you fighting someone?".
As I questioned, I noticed Tristan turned to the other soldier and gave him a nod. "I am sorry, Natalie; the questions you ask are too many. I guess it's best if you forget about everything."
Right before I could decipher what he was talking about, I felt a sharp pain in my back, and this forced me to become weak.
Turning around, I noticed a syringe and then turned to look at him.
"Why?" I asked before my eyes would slowly close.
