Chapter 35

Tristan POV

Once the door to the elevator opened, we rushed outside the company to find Cole already surrounded by the police.

"It's over Cole , just give it up. Your time has come to an end." I yelled out.

"You had this all planned out didn't you?" He asked, his hands raised in the air.

"You failed to prepare properly. I have been planning a raid on you for the past weeks, watching your every move instantly. I want you to know that when the time comes, the law will always catch up with you."

One of the policemen with the cuffs stepped forward and held his hands. In a matter of seconds, I watched him pull out a gun from the police hand and I felt something hit me in the chest.

My vision has become blurry as I also watch Cole fall to his knees. I looked at my hand and realised he had shot me with the gun.

"Tristan! You will be alright." Scorpion's right hand man was beside me. I couldn't think of anything in the world other than staying in the arms of Natalie at that moment. As my eyes closed, I realised that all my sacrifice had truly amounted to nothing if I wasn't going to be in her world.

**
Natalie POV

I felt an instant ache as I woke up in a new environment. I soon realised I was in the car and the sight before me drew my attention immediately. There were several policemen and so much commotion. I struggled to get down the car and steadied myself, watching the scene before me. The last thing I had remembered was being knocked out by Cole.

The loud ambulance siren blasted across the other path and would soon make its way over to the place where several of the police men gathered. I was curious to know what was going and approached the scene favouring my head.

My sight caught the presence of Cole on the floor, blood scattered across the place. I gasped for a moment realising he had been killed.

"Natalie! We need to get you back to Elvis." Scorpion's right hand man says, the moment he caught sight of me approaching the scene.

"What's happening?" I asked as he tried to turn me away from the scene. I caught a glimpse of a familiar face being laid out on the stretcher and instinct kicked in, the moment I realised it was Tristan .

"No! Let me see him." I fought as he struggled to move me away from the scene.

"You need to be strong for him. Let's get you to Elvis." He insists, but I bite his hands and once he let go, I rushed over to the stretching which was being moved to the ambulance.

"No Tristan! Please don't leave me." I pleaded seeing his bloodied arm.

"Madam! We need to get him to the hospital." One of the medical staff revealed, moving my arms away from the body as it is carried into the back seat of the ambulance.

"Will he be okay?" I asked, as my anxiety kept increasing.
"He has lost a lot of blood, we will find out in the hospital." The medical staff revealed and would soon join his colleague and the ambulance sped off.

"Let's follow them." I tell Scorpion as a new wave of adrenaline kicked in as I head back to the car.

Once we were inside the car, he turned the ignition on and we headed into the expressway. There was a momentary silence, but I needed to know what happened.

"How did this event come about?" I asked, trying to wipe the tears in my eyes.

"Cole shot at Tristan, while he was surrounded by the police. He was too quick and nobody anticipated that he was actually going to pull a trigger. You don't have to worry about him, though, he is dead."

One part of me was satisfied knowing that Cole was dead, another was still scared about the health situation of Tristan.

When we arrived at the hospital, I watched the nurse move his body into the emergency unit, while we were told to stay back. I paced back and forth panicking; I love Tristan and wouldn't want to lose him too, I couldn't bear the pain that was going to follow it.

After some hours the doctor would step out of the ward drenched up in sweat, as he approached us.

"Please tell me he's okay." I begged as I rushed over to him.

"We tried our best ma'am. He lost a lot of blood. I am sorry, Tristan is dead." It almost felt like the world became empty at that moment. The words of the doctor echoed through my ear over and over again.

"No! He can't be dead!" I screamed, pushing him aside and making my way into the emergency room, despite the doctor's warning to stay away.

The moment I opened the door, Tristan's body laid there completely lifeless as I approached him. Some of the nurses were trying to get me away, but no one was separating me from the love of my life.

"Please Tristan ! I am begging you, don't leave. You have a son to father and you have a wife to love! I don't want to be a widow! I don't want to stay in this world knowing I have no companion." I shed uncontrollable tears, as I cling to his body.

"Tristan please! You always say you would never leave my side. I need you to keep that promise please." I looked up at him, his eyes shot close.

I couldn't contain myself anymore, I couldn't even breathe. It almost felt a part of me was moving away with Tristan and I was on a thin line between sanity and delusion.

As I laid beside him, my tears reducing to sobs, my ears picked up the sound of the monitor beeping over and over again. I looked up to see the beeping sound coming from the machine attached to Tristan. I caught sight of his hand twitching and a glimpse of hope sparked through my entire body.

"Doctor!" I yelled rushing out of the emergency unit. "Doctor please come and examine him!" I plead the moment I see him outside.

As we both stepped back into the room, I watched him use his stethoscope to examine Tristan's pulse over and over again.

"Well, isn't this a miracle! Tristan is alive."
