Chapter 45
Natalie POV
Tristan and I had chosen a perfect hiding spot among the bushes. We could clearly see the soldiers, making the search around the bushes, but the soldiers couldn’t see us.
“Tristan I am scared!” I announced to Tristan, who held his hands up his mouth, as an indication that I held my peace. I was scared that we would be caught and most likely taken to Felix, and I would most likely be punished as Tristan was a friend of Felix.
After minutes of searching round the whole bushes, there was no sign of both me and Tristan. The soldiers reverted back into their black van and left the place. Once they were gone, Tristan and I stepped out of the hiding place. Tristan pulled out his phone and ringed Felix, who picked almost immediately.
“I believe Natalie would have told you everything.”
Felix spoke first through the phone.
“This is my warning to you Tristan, for old time sakes, I need you to bring Natalie to me. I killed my grandfriend and deserves to be punished. Failure to do as I have commanded, I would hunt you both and find you both.”
“You seem to believe that you are the only one powerful in this city Felix. I need you to remember that I belong to the Walter’s family and we have much influence and affluence around this place, just like your family do. You don’t want to risk having a war between our families do you?” Tristan asked.
“If its war you want, then you have it. Even if our friendship ends at this point, I will gladly end it. I want you to provide Natalie.” Felix demanded more in a very authoritative tone.
“You want war Felix, then war it would be.” Tristan declared.
“Tristan! I don’t want us to do this, bring Natalie to me and….” Tristan hung up the phone and immediately searched for his friend’s contact and rang him. He didn’t pick up right on time however and Tristan immediately ringed his friend’s assistant and he picked immediately.
“Is my friend around?” He asked the personal assistant.
“No, he is back home and is having his rest.” The personal assistant replied.
“Very well then, I need you to go back home and inform my friend that I am in danger. Ensure to inform him to place a call across to me.” Tristan instructed and hanged up immediately.
On the other hand, I was fidgeting. I had heard the conversation between Felix and Tristan and knew that a war between the two would leave me in a state of dilemma. I hated coming in between two friends and at this point, there was nothing I could do about it.
Tristan and I were back at the black mustang, when Mr. Walter; Tristan’s friend called and he picked immediately.
“Tristan, I got your message from Levi. What is the problem?” Mr. Walter asked.
“I am in danger.” Tristan revealed.
“Don’t you worry; ensure your phone is still on. I will have the boys track your location and would ensure that you are back here safely. Just hold on.” Mr. Walter announced.
“I am in Felix’s danger….” Tristan indicated, but it was too late as his friend had already hung up.
While Tristan and I waited for the entourage to arrive, a knock came through Tristan’s car window and when he turned around, he realized the person to be one of Felix’s men with a gun in his hand.
“Step out of the car now!” The soldier yelled.
“No matter what happen, don’t open the door.” Tristan instructed me, before stepping out of the car.
“You really think we would be fools to allow you both go, knowing you will both return to your cars?”
The soldier asked as Tristan leaned back at his car. He was observing the soldier and looking for a perfect means to incapacitate him.
“Wait till I call the boss and have him know I was the one that found you. He would reward me handsomely.” The soldier said with smile in his lips and tried to get his phone out of the pocket.
Tristan found this as the only chance he had and launched at the soldier, being very careful to avoid staying at the end of the gun’s nozzle. He held on to the soldier’s neck, trying to knock him out cold. Tristan had a long experience in Judo and this was becoming helpful for him as he had applied the coquina clutch on the man.
After few minutes of locking the technique, the soldier dropped the gun and fell to the floor, while Tristan ’s hand were still placed to his neck and eventually, he passed out cold on the floor. Tristan stood up and dragged the unconscious body of the soldier away from the road and unto the bush.
I had watched everything at the comfort of the black mustang, I stepped out of the car and hurried over to Tristan ’s side. “Are you okay?” I asked, observing every part of Tristan, who was perfectly fine.
Meanwhile, another soldier, who had been stationed to watch them had observed his fellow comrade being knocked out cold and immediately picked up his walkie talkie and ringed the rest of the soldiers to come back.
After a few more minutes of waiting, both Tristan and I heard the sound of cars coming in both directions of the road. Tristan almost believed it was his friend’s escort, till the black vans turned out to be Felix ’s men. They were all trapped and had no place to go. The soldiers all got down from the car and made a circular formation, placing both me and Tristan at the centre.
Another car pulled over and when Tristan looked up, Felix stepped out of the car, dressed in a black long trench coat and a hat to accompany his dress. He had a cigar in his mouth and his cold stare landed immediately on his old friend.
