Chapter 18: Surgery Fees
"Jesus Christ, what the hell happened to Eric?"
The wait was very long, I was leaning very helplessly against the hospital wall, the man was sitting on the other side, and we both heard Jenny's voice coming from far away.
I looked back and saw Jenny rushing all the way over, still wearing her nightclub overalls and not changing, wearing only a dirty jacket in this cold season, with her two long legs exposed to the air.
Apparently she hadn't had time to change, she received the news and rushed over, I think it was William who informed her.
Following behind Jenny was Tom, who was also full of concern.
"I don't know, I was just with him inside the mall picking out a wedding gift for Sophie."
Because things happened in such a hurry, the suits that had been bought and the rabbits that hadn't had time to check out were forgotten at the mall.
Jenny looked at me heartily, and she held me tightly in her arms.
I finally couldn't hold back any longer and cried out in her arms.
"Honey, don't cry, we have to trust William's medical skills, and we have to trust Eric, he's a very strong boy."
I was crying in Jenny's arms, and on the other side, Tom was asking the nice man about what happened in the middle of the mall.
We waited like this outside the operating room for two hours before the lights finally went out.
William came out with a tired face, from his expression, I felt that Eric's condition is not as optimistic as imagined.
I rushed forward and grabbed his arm tightly, my eyes full of prayer, hoping he could bring me good news.
"Go to my office."
William said to me, and patted my hand, telling me not to worry.
I followed William, and Jenny and Tom followed us to William's office.
William sat in his seat, looked over Eric's medical records, was silent for a long time, and finally spoke when I was about to choke.
"As you can see, although Eric's condition is now temporarily stabilized, but his condition is not optimistic, has a tendency to deteriorate."
When I heard what he said, I felt as if a thunderbolt had descended from the sky and struck me directly in the heart.
"How could this happen? Obviously when we came yesterday, he was still very lively."
Jenny punched a fist on William's desk, her tone full of blame.
"This whole thing is my fault, if I hadn't taken him to the mall, Eric wouldn't be like this."
I put one hand over my mouth and tried to keep my voice from choking, but tears continued to drip from the corners of my eyes.
"Actually, before I took over Eric, his condition had already started to deteriorate, but the doctor didn't tell you before, and we wanted to observe for a while longer."
William was silent for a long time again, still planning to tell me the truth.
I couldn't believe my ears, I looked seriously into William's eyes, trying to find the joking element in his eyes, but I failed, his eyes were full of regret and sorry.
"William, tell me, what else can I do for him?"
For the first time since I was born, I felt such helplessness, and even though Tom was standing behind me now, there was nothing he could do to bring me the hope that I could save Eric, like the last time he worked for me.
"Although Eric's condition has worsened, there is still a way to save it for now."
William's words, as if they were a holy light from heaven, filled my heart with hope instantly, and I stared at him closely with wide eyes.
Tom and Jenny also stared at him closely, and I silently prayed in my heart that the method he said out was not what I thought it was.
In fact, I knew early on that the only way to save Eric's life was to match the corresponding bone marrow for transplant.
"If we can find the matching bone marrow as early as possible and schedule the surgery for him as early as possible, then we will be able to save Eric's life with a high possibility."
William, under our watchful eyes, did say the final solution, which was the same as the one I had guessed.
"But you also have to prepare for the worst, after all, there is no surgery that can be 100% successful."
What William said after that, I didn't even listen to.
Matching the corresponding bone marrow, this is something I have known for a long time, but is it that easy to match the bone marrow?
Even if the bone marrow is matched, I don't have enough money to pay for the expensive surgery.
Tom, who had not spoken since he came in, stood behind me at this time, patted my shoulder, and said to me, "Don't worry about the money, we just need to find the matching bone marrow."
I glanced at Tom gratefully, and I knew he was a very righteous boss and friend.
But in the face of such a high cost of surgery, even Tom, the only way to get enough money in a while is to sell the nightclub.
Whether as an employee, or as a friend, I would not allow Tom to do such a thing.
I know better than anyone else what this nightclub (changing all the nightclubs to nightclubs) means to Tom.
Jenny fished out a card from her bag and handed it to me and said.
"After working for so many years, I have saved some money, now it's all for you, save our brother first."
I pushed Jenny's card back, I didn't accept her card, nor did I intend to accept Tom's kindness.
Jenny had become a stripper to fulfill her dream of becoming an actress, and now she was just short of saving enough money to pursue her dream in the middle of a bigger city.
William also saw that I was embarrassed by the money problem.
"I can help you apply for the fund, or I can vouch for you, and I will delay paying for the surgery as long as I can."
"There is also no matching bone marrow at the moment, so you still have enough time to get the surgery fee together."
At this moment, I also finally made up my mind.
The time had come to make a decision on that matter that I had been hesitating for a long time.
I raised my eyes, or these three people in the whole room, I have their appearance deeply engraved in my mind, these are my real friends.
"Don't worry about me, I already have a solution."
Now if I want to raise enough money in a short time, then I can only agree to that plan proposed by Damon.
"Are you sure?"
Tom was still worried, he had a worried look in his eyes.
"Honey, we I want you to be happy, not to force yourself to do something you don't like."
Jenny also guessed what I was thinking, she took my hand and looked at me very seriously.
