Chapter 71 - A Different Kind of Date

After hearing William's voice, I couldn't help but sob again.
"Don't cry, where are you, I'm coming to get you." William heard me crying and instantly tensed up.
I gave William the address, and William quickly drove down to the apartment building.
After William got out of the car, he looked at me with my mask still on and froze for a moment, seeing the tears filling my eyes again.
Helped me unmask and wiped away my tears, not caring that I had these fluids rubbing off on his white suit and leaving stains.
Also giving me a particularly big hug and patting my head gently, he reassured me, "Whatever happens to your hair you can tell me, I'll always be there for you."
I nodded in William's arms, the gentle scent of William always tended to smooth out emotions, and soon I regained my composure.
"Come on, let's go on a date, let's go party, let's get wild!"
I shouted in an excited tone as I left William's arms.
William looked over at me with worried eyes, but gave me a gentle smile and rubbed my head.
William opened the door for me, and just as I was about to get in, I saw the flash of fiery red hair again.
Damon was standing a short distance away with an angry look on his face, and behind him stood Morgan, and we just stared at each other.
Morgan saw the mask in William's hand and his expression instantly grimaced, clearly having recognized me as the applicant from earlier.
"Selena, what are you doing with my brother?!" Her tone was rather sharp and very harsh, and I frowned, ignoring her and getting ready to get in the car.
"Morgan, don't be ridiculous." William scolded to Morgan in a small voice.
Morgan, still very much at William's beck and call, was indeed drank back by William and stood his ground, giving up the idea of rushing over.
And with tightly pursed lips, Damon suddenly walked quickly to my side, grabbing my arm and yanking me out of the car.
"No going with him." Damon's voice was suppressed with obvious anger.
I lowered my eyes from him and tried to break free from his grip, but his strength was too great and his hands were like a shackle, tightening around my wrists.
"Mr. Damon and his fiancée just keep dating, why should you care who I, my little interviewer, is with." I said laughing out loud to myself and looking Damon straight in the eyes.
Damon froze at my words and I used the opportunity to break free from Damon's grasp and I closed the door as fast as I could.
William saw what was in front of him and got in rather quickly as well, stepped on the gas and the silver-grey sports car roared off, losing sight of Damon and Morgan in an instant.
William knew I was in a bad mood and followed my lead and let me loose with the normal order of dates.
I wanted to work hard to squeeze out a smile, to feel good about being with William.
Only I failed, when I ate I would think of the delicious dishes Damon cooked for me, when I shopped I would think of Damon bagging store after store in the mall for me, and no matter what I did with William, Damon would be on my mind.
This was very distressing to me and I couldn't focus on spending time with William.
William noticed these changes in me as well, only he didn't even say anything about it and simply kept me company in silence.
It is true, as I feel, that William is a wonderful person, but my heart has been taken by Damon, and even when I am deeply hurt by Damon as I am today, I still cannot accept William very well.
I looked at the steaks in front of me and even though William had cut them for me, I only took two bites and just kept piercing them with my fork.
William sat across from me with a very helpless expression; obviously, he didn't often comfort people, but he kept doing as well as he could, trying to help me recover by doing all sorts of interesting things.
It's just that none of it did much good.
As if remembering something, he suddenly spoke, "There's a family gathering tonight, and I think you should have some fun meeting more new friends."
I froze for two seconds, looking at William somewhat blankly, and didn't respond until after William repeated it again.
"Yeah, well, let's go now!"
I glanced at the time and figured that it should have just opened based on the time of the daily dance.
William was also very happy to see that I was finally interested in things.
"I'm so happy that I can invite such a beautiful woman to be my dance partner today." William said happily to me as he walked over to me after checking out.
I could see that his smile was reaching the depths of his eyes and I had a moment of weakness before I finally looked away and walked quickly up to the car.
The location of the restaurant is not far from the address of the party, just a few minutes drive.
When I was actually standing in the doorway, I suddenly started to get nervous.
It's been too long since I've made friends as who I really am, and it makes me feel uneasy.
"Don't worry, it's just some family and close friends in there."
William, seeing my difficulty, spoke to me gently and held out an arm, gesturing for me to take him.
I gave him a look and took a deep breath, reassuring myself internally.
"Selena, if you didn't say you were going to start a new life, then you must show the courage to belong!"
After those words, a more natural smile finally broke out on my face.
I looked up and put my hand naturally around William's arm and walked into the party hall together.
"Yo, look who's here, I didn't think William would come to the party."
"It's really the first time, look at him with a female companion!"
"Oh, my God, this is a miracle."
William and I had just entered the venue when a few people who knew William better gathered around us.
Instead of answering their words, William smiled coyly and led me on to the depths of the venue.
I wasn't used to being surrounded by people like this and nervously grabbed William's arm.
William's hand gently patted the back of mine, gesturing for me to take it easy.
"Hi, William, is this your girlfriend?" A man with dyed green hair came up to us and greeted us.
"Not yet, but I don't know about later." The man's words made William so happy that even the curve of his mouth went up a little more than usual.
I was only able to laugh a little to hide my embarrassment, pinching William hard in the process.
Yet this instead made William laugh and stretch even more.
"Selena, this is my friend, Jason. Jason, this is the girl I'm courting."
