Chapter 54: Just Cooperation
"What are you doing in there, I've been screaming for half a day."
Sophie looked at me suspiciously, looked me up and down, and inquired.
"Just now in the shower, looking for me for what?"
Because time was too short, I was only able to find a bathrobe and put it on, but when I saw Sophie's eyes resting on my neck, she quickly reached out and rubbed my neck to cover up the damn "strawberry mark".
"Why don't you invite me in?"
Sophie's confusion grew, obviously sensing something was wrong with my current perverse behavior.
I turned sideways and gestured for Sophie to come in, but I kept my eyes on the balcony window and was relieved to see that Damon had disappeared from there.
"What's wrong, I just wanted to take a break, shouldn't I be enjoying the same comfortable sleep after a shower?"
I regretted saying this because I suddenly remembered that there was still the dinner party my mother had said in the evening, and I must have had my sanity taken away by Damon to say something so idiotic.
Sure enough, Sophie looked at me suspiciously again, and I saw in her eyes my flushed face, and a somewhat heartbroken look.
"What's that?"
Sophie looked at me and reached out and pointed to a black jacket in the distance.
Oh, damn it! That was Damon's jacket, and I felt my eyes widen momentarily, but quickly gathered myself again.
"Oh, so William forgot it here when he checked it for me, I guess."
I pretended to be calm and lie without changing my face.
Sophie looked into my eyes and lingered for a few seconds before finally dropping her hand.
"Well, let William take it away quickly, or mother will see it, and you know the consequences."
With that Sophie wanted to go over and help me put my clothes away, and I hastily called her back.
"I remembered that there is a dinner party in the evening, you help me to pick a suitable dress."
"You never let me help you pick out your clothes before." Sophie couldn't understand my strange behavior today.
"It's been a year since I've been to a dinner party like this, you know."
I shrugged, quite helplessly.
"I'm the one who didn't think it through, I must have been overwhelmed by the wedding to ask such a stupid question."
Sophie helped me pick out a suitable dress and apologized to me again before leaving.
After sending Sophie away, I closed the door quickly and ran to the balcony in small steps, looking around without finding Damon.
Finally I saw Damon in the room diagonally across the hall, holding a glass of red wine and greeting me.
I gave him a vicious glare, of course I knew he couldn't see my expression, but that didn't stop me from condemning him for sneaking into my room this time.
It was just that Sophie had picked out a low-cut gift for me, and I searched for half a day before this occurred to me to use a silk scarf to cover the strawberry marks on my neck.
I cursed again in my mind for all this trouble Damon had brought me.
The evening dinner could be described as just a gathering of two families, certainly not the parents of either family, just a networking evening for the offspring of our two families.
When I arrived at the dining room, several young people have long been seated, only Morgan stood next to Damon.
The whole atmosphere of the dining room was not very good, especially the aura emanating from Damon and the look on Morgan's face.
I gave them both a somewhat uneasy look and did not interrupt, but found Sophie and sat down beside her.
"Morgan, I've already said that there are no outsiders here, so we can disguise ourselves as we did outside."
After sitting down, I finally heard the conversation between Damon and Morgan.
Morgan didn't seem to care about Damon's words, forcing himself to grab a seat and sit next to Damon.
Grimm, on the other hand, watched these actions between the two of them with an amused look on his face, not the least bit ready to help.
I just took a curious glance and withdrew my eyes, because Sophie had become suspicious, only what I did not expect was that Sophie let William sit next to me.
I smiled a little awkwardly at William and unconsciously moved in Sophie's direction.
And Damon had obviously noticed the situation on my side, and I even felt Damon's knife-like gaze that could almost pierce William who was serving me a plate.
"That's okay, I can do it myself."
I politely declined William's kind offer, and William acted as if he didn't hear me.
Finally William even attached himself to my ear and said, "I saw the way Damon escaped from your balcony."
I looked at William in surprise, William still had a cool look on his face, without the slightest ripple in his expression, as if it wasn't him who was talking.
"Selena, I'll pick up my forgotten jacket after dinner."
Finally William winked at me and said to me in a voice that everyone could hear.
By now the whole hall was quiet, and even Morgan, who had been making a lot of noise just a moment ago, had stopped making noise and looked at us.
Even if I didn't look up, I could already feel Damon's flame-filled eyes staring intently at me and William.
"It's okay, I'll have the servant send it over."
I hurriedly sidled towards Sophie's direction again, trying to avoid contact with William, and also trying to draw a clear line between William and me.
Only this act obviously didn't have the effect it should have, and Grimm even whistled at me.
I glared at Green, while Sophie also felt that Green's approach was somewhat less than dignified and was educating Green.
During the course of the meal, no matter how much I rejected the good feelings William unleashed on me, William acted as if he didn't feel it and continued to shower me with affection.
The same thing happened to me with Damon, and eventually Morgan sat next to him. It was as if she was in a race with William, and what William did to me, she would do the same to Damon.
Only Damon is different from me, all his attention is on William at this time.
I think, if there were not other people in the restaurant, Damon's fist must have hit William's handsome face.
I finished the meal as fast as I could and escaped from this embarrassing restaurant.
Sophie followed in my wake, and at the corner of the hallway she called out to me.
"Sister, I think you may not know William's identity."
I looked at Sophie's worried expression in surprise.
"He's Eric's primary care doctor, that's all."
I thought Sophie had misunderstood the relationship between William and me and tried to explain to her.
"No, he's Morgan's real brother."
I think my jaw dropped to the floor at this point, if that's possible.
"Oh my God, is there even such a coincidence in the world?"
I grabbed my hair with both hands, unable to believe what my ears were hearing.
