Chapter 68 - Successful transfer to hospital

Unlike traditional hospitals, there is no pungent smell of disinfectant water in this hospital, and the air is filled with the fresh, clean scent of plants.
Once again, I marvel at the generosity of the Van Dornhelmwood family.
I soon found the front desk of the inpatient unit, learned where Eric's room was located, and walked through many more corridors to find Eric's location.
Eric's room is in the most central location of the entire inpatient unit and the closest to the cardiology building, which is very convenient for access.
Unlike the previous hospital, this time, because of Damon's arrangements, Eric was admitted to a single en suite room and hired an exclusive chaperone.
When I arrived at the ward, the chaperone who was standing by outside the room told me that Eric was resting.
Standing outside the hospital room, I saw Eric, who was sleeping, through the clear glass on the door of the room.
Because he wasn't completely stabilized and after some transfers, Eric wasn't in very good shape at this point.
The already very fair skin is almost transparent when exposed to the sun.
I gently pushed open the door to the room and walked over to Eric.
At this point he was still on a ventilator and his little face was as white as could be, my tears flowed unconsciously down the corners of my eyes, restraining myself from the urge to choke up as I gently stroked his shaggy hair with compassion.
Eric seemed to feel my touch , and opened his eyes.
The blue pupils gradually came into focus, and the small, expressionless face struggled to show a weak smile upon seeing me.
Eric tried to say something to me, and I shook my hand to indicate that he should not speak.
He blinked his big eyes at me, very wet in his eyes, but stubbornly didn't let the tears fall.
But my tears got more and more raging, and finally I had to cover my mouth to keep myself from crying out.
It's amazing how much pain my brother, who was just 10 years old, had to suffer.
Seeing my tears, there was some panic in Eric's big eyes and he couldn't help the tears from slipping down, he cried while wiping my tears with his tiny palms, which ended up getting bigger and bigger.
Finally Eric gave up on wiping my tears and reached out his tiny arms to hug me and put one of my hands on top of his chest, as if to tell me again that his heart was still healthy and not to worry about him.
"It's okay, Erik. Brother Damon has found the best doctor for you and you're going to be fine." I said to him as I dried my tears and rubbed his soft hair.
Eric tilted his head up at me, his eyes looking at me searchingly.
"Dr. William has more serious patients to take care of, he'll see you sometime, don't worry." I looked my eyes to the side and found a more convincing excuse to put off about the reason for the transfer.
The loss in Eric's eyes was very evident after he heard that he would no longer be able to receive William's treatment.
It seems like this kid really, really likes William, and it's a shame that he's lost like this because of me.
"Eric, the doctor is going to give you a full check up later, get ready oh." Eric's exclusive caregiver knocked on the door and stood in the doorway and said to Eric.
I gave Eric a hug and told him to be strong.
By the time Eric's test results came back, it was late in the evening, and because Eric was so tired and asleep by now after all the tests, the doctor called me into the next office.
The doctor who replaced Eric is one of the best in the business and great deal of experience.
This time the doctors have good news for me, although Eric's health doesn't look good at the moment, they have found a matching donor and as soon as Eric's condition stabilizes a bit, a match can be made, and once the match is made, the future surgery can be prepared.
Aside from Sophie getting married, this best news I've had in recent days.
When I heard the news, I almost jumped up off the floor as I sighed that Lady Luck had finally favored me.
On the way home, I felt the weather clear and bright and experienced a sense of relief that I had never felt before.
I've also decided that I'm going to go to one more nightclub today to finish my last curtain call performance and then I'm quitting to focus on finishing school and what I want to do.
By the time I got to the club, Jenny had long since changed into her costume for the show and was discussing with Tom the style of dance for the day.
"Let's see, who's late again?" Tom saw my arrival and looked at me with his arms around his chest and a slightly irritated expression.
I knew what Tom meant and quickly put on a smile and pouted at him. "I know you have the biggest heart for me, I went to visit Eric in the hospital today and learned some really great news."
This drew Jenny in as well, and I gave a cursory talk about Eric's transfer and shared with them the good news the doctor had told me today.
"Is it true, you are so lucky!" Tom clapped with me happily, and Jenny was even more excited with her eyes all red.
"Honey, I'm so happy for you and for Eric." Jenny said as she wiped her own tears.
"All that's settled, so ...... Tom I'm very grateful for the way you've looked after me this year. I ......" I waited for them both to calm down quite a bit before I was ready to offer my resignation.
Tom, probably ready for this, interrupted me with a wave of his hand.
"I knew I couldn't keep you, it's just that without you as a popular star, my little nightclub's business will definitely suffer particularly badly, so why don't I leave all the costume designs for these dancers to you from now on!" Tom said with great difficulty, scratching his head.
"I haven't even quit my job and you're already planning to make me work for nothing... Surely you're the most famous Eugenie Grundy in the whole city!"
I protested at Tom, who ignored my protests and took out a set of black overalls, the one Damon had made especially for me.
"Here, change into this and come put on a final performance for your many fans!" Tom exclaimed.
With that, he led Jenny out with him, and I even heard Jenny grumbling with him.
"Let go of me, I still have something to say to Selena."
I shook my head helplessly, but a smile was on the corner of my mouth, it had been a long time since I had seen this familiar scene and it really made me miss it a lot after seeing it now.
Since there was no longer any financial pressure, this was the first time I worked in the store in such a relaxed state.
