Chapter 43 - Departure

"What are you thinking about so intensely?"
Alexander, whose eyes seemed to speak and were very animated, asked me tenderly.
I don't think anyone would dislike such a sunny big boy, and I don't blame Jenny for forgiving him.
"Nothing is wrong." When I learned about Alexander and Jenny's recent affair, I thought I should stay away from my friend's man.
With a gentle smile on his lips, Alexander said to me, "Let me guess, it must have been William who confessed his love for you."
I jerked my head up and looked at him with a shocked expression.
"How do you know."
"It was my proposal." Alexander winked at me, displaying a different playfulness than usual.
His comment shocked me even more, and I couldn't understand what he was trying to do with it.
"He's Eric's primary care doctor, and he's really good."
Alexander walked ahead with his hands in his pockets, relaxed.
I furrowed my brow, not agreeing that what Alexander said had anything to do with William's confession.
"Why would you do that?"
"Because he does like you, and when faced with someone you like you need to be bold and go for it, don't you?"
Alexander turned around and stared at me seriously.
"It's true that there is no problem with what you said, but I don't know William, and I don't like him."
This matter caused me distress, and I needed to spend more effort to deal with unnecessary social relationships.
"So what does it matter, you can take your time to get to know each other, William is really a very good person, not only in the medical field."
It was clear that Alexander had a high opinion of William.
"I don't have the idea of finding a boyfriend, Eric and school are more important." I refused Alexander's offer.
Of course the most important reason was the contract I had signed with Damon, which took away the basic requirement of getting a boyfriend.
"Well, you can consider him as your backup option, there are plenty of opportunities for you to engage with him in the future."
Alexander seemed very interested in his friend's feelings, and I wondered if such a personality could be truly dedicated and constant in his dealings with Jenny.
I shook off my head, I should not make any more prejudiced decisions about Alexander because of a few simple words.
"Are you here to volunteer today, too?"
I deflected Alexander, only the deflection was a little lame.
"I'm here to visit Eric."
Alexander's eyes narrowed into slits with a smile that radiated happiness.
I cringed at the stupid question I'd just asked.
"How about you, have you been feeling better lately?"
"Fine, just still a little worried about Eric's condition."
The contract with Damon allowed me to stop worrying about Eric's surgery costs, but the biggest problem was the matching bone marrow, which was the most difficult problem to solve this time.
"Don't worry, a cute kid like Eric will be blessed by God." Alexander reassured me.
"Although I am not much of a doctor, I can also use my family's power to help you find some sources of bone marrow, including some informal ones, of course."
I swear this is definitely the nicest and most helpful thing Alexander has said since I've known him.
I snapped my head up to Alexander, probing with my eyes the truth of what he was saying.
"Is it true what you say?"
"Of course, it's not cheap to get information in informal channels, I'm just a businessman, a messenger of information."
Alexander's eyes narrowed slightly, and his tone remained very relaxed, as if he was saying something else that was perfectly normal.
But his words rekindled the fire of hope in me.
"No matter what, I'm here to thank you!"
"It's been my pleasure to serve a beautiful woman."
After I said goodbye to Alexander, I couldn't concentrate, always immersed in the great shock Alexander had brought.
I didn't even notice when Damon returned.
Damon also seemed to have something on his mind, and simply slept with me all night without doing anything.
This was very counterintuitive, but I was very happy about the rare break.
When I got up in the morning Damon by my side was long gone, leaving a note on the dining room table.
"Traveling for a week, no need to worry."
Although I didn't want to admit it, I was surprisingly relieved when I saw the note.
Spending every day with Damon took more than just my physical strength it took my sanity and self-control.
I gave myself a delicate makeup before leaving to pick up Eric from the hospital and contacted the housekeeper.
The temporary discharge was done in advance, so there was no need to sneak out.
When Eric saw me, he jumped into my arms with excitement.
Every time we met, I could feel Eric's enthusiasm and excitement.
I lovingly stroked Eric's little head, and Eric's shaggy hair felt very nice to the touch.
"Selena, look how handsome I am!"
Eric withdrew from my arms and showed me his new tuxedo, the one we had last purchased at the mall.
"You are the most handsome man in the world!"
I said as I dropped a kiss on his forehead and stroked his little face.
"Grandpa Scott!"
After I let go of Eric, Eric saw the butler standing behind me and pounced on him with equal excitement. The old butler never treated Eric differently because he was an adopted child and loved all three of us equally, so Eric loved him just as much.
"Let me see who this is, it's my baby Eric! What do you see here?" Scott butler caught Eric, while pulling out an item from his pocket to shake in front of Eric's eyes.
"It's a Spider-Man doll!"
Eric shouted excitedly, but was warned by William behind him.
"Eric, we're still in the hospital."
Eric hurriedly shut up and covered his mouth with one small hand.
Such a cute look made a circle of people around laugh, while Eric held a small face red, afraid to make another sound.
Scott had his driver drive a stretch Lincoln today, which was spacious enough even with a few more people.
Eric because of the upcoming Sophie's wedding and feel excited, a small face is always flushed, no longer the usual weak look.
William, on the other hand, said very little and sat in the corner, as if watching something.
On the contrary, Scott butler has not seen Eric for a long time, has been accompanying Eric to do games.
The scene in front of me gave me a sense of trance, as if Eric had never been sick and his parents had never abandoned him, and we had just been happy and happy.
"What are you thinking about?"
William came up to my side at some point and asked me softly.
"I'm thinking that God must be jealous of Eric and that's why he brought him so many trials and tribulations."
I looked at Eric who was laughing very happily and whispered so as not to be heard by Eric.
"I will do my best to save him, please believe me."
William looked at me with a serious face, his big hand covered my small hand, I looked at him and gently withdrew my hand and thanked him.
"Thank you, besides Sophie, Eric is the person I hold most dear to me, and I just want him to grow up healthy."
William sensed the detachment in my tone, he was a little lost and didn't speak again until he reached his destination.
Sophie was waiting at the entrance of the manor early and saw our car from afar, waving her hands vigorously.
Eric more excited from the car window peeked out of the small head, also waved at Sophie.
"Sister Sophie, I miss you so much!"
His childish voice, floating along the wind to Sophie's side, made Sophie's eyes red for a moment.
"Eric, I miss you too!"
