Chapter 65 - The Pink Round Dance
By now I was sitting in the church pew, with Jenny beside me, her eyes red and puffy from crying.
Sophie is exchanging rings with Grimm, the final ceremony of the wedding, which will soon open the day's dinner afterwards.
Jenny was more emotional than I was about Sophie's wedding, as if it was her sister who was getting married, and I gave Jenny a somewhat helpless look and handed her a few more tissues to maintain basic neatness.
And I'm still thinking about the last question Damon left me with, and I still haven't found a better answer.
After Damon left, I was more worried about the matter regarding my engagement to William, after all, William had even invited both of his parents to the estate.
And the matter was settled by Damon, just last night when Jenny passed by Morgan's room and overheard the content of Morgan and William's argument.
Morgan seemed to carry a natural animosity towards me; she didn't approve of my engagement to William at all, and Damon used the business dealings between the two families to shock William's parents into killing the whole engagement thing altogether.
William is also very unstable and says a lot of excessive things to Morgan , who ends up running away in tears.
Jenny said that now Morgan possessed an even deeper animosity towards me, Morgan seemed to guess that I had a special relationship with Damon and it made her feel jealous.
"Selena, tell me honestly, are you and Damon in a relationship?" After Sophie threw the bouquet and Jenny didn't grab it, Jenny shifted her venting to me.
Jenny's eyes were like a knife, stabbing me directly in the heart, and my heart missed a few beats.
I froze for a moment at the unfamiliar reaction to my heart, my eyes going to Damon, who was sitting not far away in the Grimm's kin area, when I realized Damon was looking at me too, the two of them meeting in the air, and I hastily shifted my own eyes to hide my already wildly beating heart.
" We only have a relationship in the agreement! " I whispered to Jenny for emphasis and waved my fist at her.
Jenny obviously didn't believe what I was saying and grunted, trying to open her mouth to contradict me.
By now the whole marriage ceremony was over and the church erupted in huge applause, and I managed to escape the questioning from Jenny.
Sophie's wedding went off without a hitch, and my sister became Mrs. Green.
At the wedding, William didn't show up, except that I had seen William in the shadows of the hallway at the end of the wedding, and he just looked away from me, looking very sad, and didn't approach me again.
I didn't know how to face William either, and I eventually gave up.
Morgan did attend Sophie's wedding in full regalia, only this time she didn't make a high-profile she was Damon's fiancée, but she was still using various methods to get close to Damon.
Soon it was time for the wedding dinner, and I sat alone in the corner, watching Sophie snuggle into Grimm's arms with a happy face and greeting the guests who came and went.
I have to admit, I had a moment of envy for Sophie's happiness, maybe having someone to be with is indeed a joy beyond belief, just when will I find the right person for me?
"Beautiful lady, may I ask you to dance?"
Just as I was lamenting Sophie's soon-to-be-started married life, Damon's magnetic voice rang in my ears.
He wore a black lace mask that matched his tailored, gold-trimmed black gown like a prince of the night who had fallen from the sky.
He stood in the warm glowing light, glowing with nobility, and gently held out a hand, waiting for my response.
I froze for a few seconds, recognizing him by the color of his fiery red hair, and my cheeks actually flushed unconsciously.
I daintily placed my own hand on top of his.
"Sure." I gave Damon a definite answer, even using a gentle tone I'd never tried before.
And I was surprised by this gentle tone of my own, and I felt the seed in my heart that had been planted by Damon sprouting.
Damon picked up a mask with gold tracery and helped me put it on my face.
The style of this mask, which is very similar to the mask on Damon's face, is like a couple's mask.
I actually don't understand why I always become less like myself and more like a childish little girl after touching Damon.
And most of the time, Damon would tolerate my caprices, meet my various requests, and even help me out with all my problems when I had various accidents.
I shook my head, shaking off these nonsense thoughts in my head, and my body followed Damon's steps, gradually dancing to the music.
I was dressed in a long blue dress with gold tracery that echoed Damon's outfit, as if it was a deliberately prepared couple's outfit.
At this point the band also switched the music to a round dance tune, an upbeat and elegant tune that released a more relaxed vibe as the notes jumped around the dance floor.
I circled around Damon, feeling his pull on me, like a happy little bird, fluttering across the dance floor,
Just for the moment, I forget all kinds of worries and just get lost in the rhythm of the music and dance a song with the man I'm interested in.
And at this point, it's a dance song just for us.
"You dance so well, you're as beautiful as a fairy." Damon whispered to me as he attached himself to my ear.
My cheeks were once again engorged with blood and I could feel how red they must be at this point like ripe tomatoes.
I looked up at Damon's handsome face and his turquoise eyes were gazing at me right now, at this point we were more like a couple than people who only had a physical relationship.
It was in this moment that I learned how much Damon meant to me, that in my mind he had long since become more than just a bed partner with whom I had signed a contract, that I had long since fallen in love with him.
When I realized this, I jerked out of my dance music intoxication and looked at Damon's handsome face, creating the urge to run away.
Soon, a dance song finished and I fought the urge in my heart to indulge in Damon's embrace. As fast as I could, I fled Damon's side and hid in the middle of the room.
"Selena, open the door."
Damon followed my footsteps and chased me out of the room. Knocking on the door outside my room, while I locked the door to my room, and the door to the balcony all together, and hid in the bathroom alone, trying to keep myself calm through the cold water.
"Selena, you need to clearly understand that it is impossible between you, you are only in a carnal relationship!"
I crouched helplessly in the tub and kept admonishing myself to stay away from Damon.
