Chapter 46: A Coincidental Encounter at the Dinner Party
"Oh my God, you didn't really slap Damon, did you?"
Jenny sat up in bed, looking at me in surprise, and she covered her mouth to prevent herself from making too much noise.
I walked back and forth across the room, trying to ease my uneasiness in this way.
"Selena, you're practically my idol."
Jenny blinked her big eyes at me with all the adoration in them.
Not just her, I don't think anyone would have thought there would be a person who could slap the family in charge of the Van Dom Hew family.
"Jenny, I really don't know what to do, if I pretend to be sick now, I don't have to go to the dinner."
I grabbed my hair, which I had already messed up, and didn't know how to face the consequences of this matter.
In the evening there was a pre-wedding dinner, invited a lot of high society, as the family's first lady, especially the bridesmaid about Sophie's wedding, I was sure to attend.
Jenny was not originally among those invited, but she was invited by Alexander as a lady's companion and would also accompany me for a few days in my old family home.
But that's all over -
The slap I gave Damon this morning brought me not only fear of Damon's retaliation, but also fear of the impact on Sophie's wedding.
"My Missy, as opposed to Damon's anger alone, I think not attending the dinner will have more serious consequences, and now you have 30 minutes to wash up."
In the end, I was forced to attend the dinner under the pressure of my parents.
Throughout the dinner, except for the necessary speeches in the middle, I stood in the far corner, in the most inconspicuous position, and almost no one noticed my presence.
I was not at all interested in this kind of fake socializing in high circles, and of course, most importantly, I wanted to avoid Damon.
Unfortunately, I overthought this matter, Damon probably does not care about my presence.
At this moment Damon is holding his fiancée's slender waist in the middle of the dance floor, and Sophie, Green, a total of four people, became the focus of the audience.
And Damon's fiery red hair is more open, almost stole the light of Sophie and Green.
I looked at the two very well-matched people, thinking about what Damon said to William at noon today, and that familiar dull ache came again.
Looking around the ballroom at the brilliant lights and the lively crowd, it made me feel very uncomfortable, and with a cocktail in hand, I found a small balcony to get some air.
"I knew you'd hide." Jenny came out of nowhere and slapped me on the shoulder.
I was leaning on the parapet of the balcony with my drink arm, but because of Jenny's tap, it spilled some of the drink from upstairs.
I did not answer Jenny's words, and looked downstairs in a hurry, just in time to see the Greene who was looking up at me.
Greene saw me, and also saw Jenny standing next to me, and his expression was surprised for a moment, then he gestured to me to wait for him.
"I told you this beautiful young lady looks so familiar, as long as it's a beautiful woman I've seen, I'll never forget it."
Grimm said aloud while walking towards us.
I made a quiet gesture to Greene, signaling him not to draw more attention to himself.
"I would never have thought that the first lady of the Vincent family would be stripping in a nightclub."
Greene stood aside from me, glanced at Jenny, and then carefully sized me up from top to bottom.
"A small mask that can bring out different personalities, Miss Fatal has really opened my eyes this time."
Grimm was still lamenting my true identity, so that I was very disgusted, just one day, the identity has been exposed twice in a row, which made me feel a sense of insecurity.
"Do you need me to tell Sophie that you went clubbing on the eve of the wedding?"
I asked without moving as I lowered my eyes to the cocktail in my hand.
"Miss Selena don't do that, I was just trying to enjoy my last bachelor time, I never wanted to betray my relationship with Jenny."
"I swear, last time was the first time, and it will be the last!"
Grimm seemed genuinely afraid that I would tell Sophie as he made the gesture of swearing.
For my part, I continued to shake the cocktail in my hand and ignored Green's words as I looked at the night sky.
"Are the handprints on Damon's face your work?"
Seeing that I did not say anything for a long time, Green asked me in a voice that only the two of us could hear.
I nodded helplessly, I didn't mean to do this, and I can only blame Damon for suddenly disclosing our relationship.
"I guessed it was you, Damon wouldn't let a woman near him at all, except for you."
Grimm's face wore a smug smile.
I, on the other hand, did not dismiss Green's remark and still responded to him, "Even my fiancée has returned, so naturally, no other woman can come near."
I muttered in a small voice, but the words were still heard by Green.
"That was just a tactic of his, some public opinion baking was needed for a new project that was about to start recently, and Miss Morgan was a good choice."
Greene explained in great detail, except I wasn't entirely convinced, and I was thinking about another important matter.
That was about the contract with Damon, where we agreed with each other that we would not reveal our identities.
"You know that Damon and I have signed a contract, right?"
I saw Green nod and continued to state my thoughts.
"The basis of our contract is that neither party has any feelings to hide, and I think that's enough to get us out of the contract this time."
"Are you sure, that woman was just cooperating with Damon for the promotion of the new project, there was no relationship between them."
Grimm hastily explained, he had always been very supportive of the relationship between Damon and me, but when the real identity was exposed, what was once all this content became a joke.
"I've thought this through, and this contract can be terminated."
Just as I was discussing with Green about the contract, Damon appeared.
His face was no longer visible from the morning's palm marks, and I was surprised to see a sense of loss in his white cheeks.
"I don't agree!"
Damon's voice was not loud, but full of unquestionable, this is the air that only a king who has been in the mall for years would have, and it really makes people stay.
"Since you already have a fiancée, I don't think there's any need to continue between us ......"
I turned my eyes away from Damon's body, I was afraid that in looking at him he would go soft.
"Why, that woman is just an excuse, she doesn't count as my fiancée!"
