Chapter 31: A man of contradictions

"Hey, is there something sad that you can talk to me about, I can be your listener for a while."
The man held my arm and sat down on the roadside seat, while handing me a tissue.
I took the tissue and wiped away all the tears before I could see clearly who this man was.
He had blond hair and turquoise blue eyes, and was Jenny's ex-boyfriend and the kind man who helped me bring Eric back last time - Alexander.
"I remember you, you're ......"
I still spoke with a heavy nasal voice, our first official meeting, I did not learn his name and he left.
The second time we met, I wore a mask and he didn't know it was me.
In Alexander's mind, it was only now that we were meeting for the second time.
"My name is Alexander."
Alexander introduced himself very warmly, and I nodded.
I treated him with a very conflicted attitude, on the one hand he abandoned his best friend, and on the other hand he helped my brother, which made me wonder what kind of attitude I should actually use towards him.
"What's wrong, are you sad because of what happened to your brother?"
Alexander asked in a soft tone, seeing that I didn't say anything, and his eyes were very clean, a completely different person from when I saw him in the nightclub.
But grief had dominated all my actions and thoughts, and I didn't even want to think so much about it. Plus Alexander didn't seem to mean any harm.
I nodded and kept wiping the tears that were slipping from the corners of my eyes.
"Don't be sad, you have to trust William's medical skills, don't look at him as a young man, but he is really a very good doctor."
Alexander tried to comfort me, only his comfort didn't work.
"I've heard William talk about Eric, he's really a wonderful boy, very sunny, like a little sun, the kids at the hospital love to play with him."
I looked up at Alexander, the sunlight shining right on his face, setting off his handsome cheeks and the gentle expression on his face, the tenderness in his eyes overflowing.
"You seem to be familiar with this hospital."
"Yeah, my father used to be treated at this hospital before he left," Alexander said, with some despondency in his eyes, but soon regained the optimism he had just felt.
"After he left, I often came to this hospital to volunteer."
Alexander spoke of his father with a very nostalgic expression, suddenly turned his head to me and raised a bright smile, saying, "Then I met very many interesting people in this hospital. You were one of them."
At Alexander's statement, I finally stopped shedding tears and looked at him sympathetically, and finally stopped looking sad again, infected by his sunny character.
"Alexander, come on, there's a kitten that ran into the tree and can't get down."
In the course of our conversation, a little girl ran over and pulled the corner of Alexander's coat, with an anxious face.
"Susan, you must be teasing the kitten, right? That's the third time today you've scared a kitten into a tree."
Alexander crossed his arms, feigning anger, and locked eyes with the little girl named Susan.
"I'm sorry, I was just trying to play a game with it."
The little girl blinked her big watery eyes, some embarrassment lowered her head Alexander apologized.
"You shouldn't apologize to me, you should apologize to the kitten."
Alexander patted the little girl's head, the voice is still very gentle.
"Well, brother Alexander you quickly help me to save it down, I will apologize to it."
Susan's tone was so sincere that I was going to be impressed by her .
I reached out and tugged on Alexander's coat, trying to get him to agree to the little girl's request.
When the little girl saw me, she grabbed my wrist in a hurry and said to me in a very soft voice, "Sister, you must let Brother Alexander help me, and I promise I won't scare the cat into the tree again ."
In front of this super cute child, I had no resistance, so I also asked Alexander for help, with my eyes gazing at Alexander.
"Okay, this is the last time, you have to promise not to scare the cat again, there's really no way to take this little naughty boy of yours."
Alexander some headache rubbing his head, as if really helpless little girl and my plea for help.
Susan heard Alexander promised, cheerfully pulling Alexander's hand towards the kitten stayed in the tree and ran over.
I followed behind, suddenly not so sad.
I saw this little girl named Susan, who had a leg that was prosthetic, but she still seemed happy enough to run happily through the grass.
Alexander seemed to be very good at this kind of thing and quickly picked the kitten up from the tree and gave it to Susan.
At the same time he made a few gestures to Susan and finally rubbed Susan's head tenderly, and Susan ran away happily with the kitten in her arms.
I watched Alexander walk towards me against the light, he was like the Archangel Gabriel, bathed in the light of holiness.
How could such a man who would volunteer and talk patiently to children be a man who would abandon his girlfriend?
I realized that I must have been prejudiced against him before.
