Following

Two seconds later, I opened my eyes, my gaze questioning. My eyes were wide with surprise, the hand he'd raised wasn't poised to strike me, rather he was gripping his hair rather roughly.
"What the fuck did you do?" He hissed under his breath.
"I'm sorry." I stumbled back a step, giving him more room and didn't bother to hide my body. He wasn't even looking at me. He was glaring at my face and if looks could kill...
"Are you out of your mind?" His voice sounded strange and I realized he'd given up trying to stay calm.
His hands were balled into fists and his knuckles turned white.
"Why are you so angry?" I asked nervously. "It's not like you didn't get what you wanted."
His eyes were dead, vacant. "What would you know about what I want?"
I cowered back into the wall.
He stalked up to me. He was breathing heavily. "Dare you pull something like that again."
"S—Sorry."
"That was work," his voice was a hostile snarl. "And I lost my one chance of getting any information from her."
"Oh my god," I gasped. I hadn't thought it might be something like that.
"Get out of my sight." He pointed me towards the door "...And don't you ever come near me again."
When he raised his hand towards the door, I closed my eyes again, in anticipation of his uncontrollable anger.
I opened my eyes, stunned again.
He was staring at me in disbelief. "Are you scared of me, Nuru?"
I opened my mouth to lie but his cold blue eyes were scrutinizing my face and I knew he'd know I was lying.
"Y...yes."
He grimaced. "Why?"
"You're unpredictable, Roman." My voice broke. "You aren't easy to read either. You... scare me when you get like this."
"You knew I would react this way," he told me. "What were you thinking?"
I gulped and looked away from him. The walls were suddenly shaking. I realized that my legs must've started shaking.
His fist came down on the wall beside my face. "Answer me dammit."
I jumped in terror. "You're always angry, Roman."
Something flashed in his eyes, and for a second the ice melted in his eyes. "And yet here you are."
I didn't answer.
His lips thinned at my prolonged silence and the distant look returned.
A phone rang and I realized it was mine. I'd left it in his room earlier. He watched the phone vibrate in irritation.
I shoved past him to answer it. I frowned at the screen. I didn't know the number.
"Hello?"
There was a short pause and then a gruff, nervous voice responded. "Oh, hey Nuru."
I frowned.
"It's Thomas."
I took a breath. "Hi Thomas."
Roman whirled at the name. I stiffened.
"Are you free tonight?"
"I..." I threw a hesitant look at Roman. "Yes, I'm free tonight."
"Can we go watch a movie?"
"I can't talk right now," I mumbled. "I'll call you in a bit."
Roman laughed without amusement. "No you won't." His voice was matter of fact.
I glared at him..
Thomas laughed nervously and bid farewell.
"Who's Thomas?"
"Why does it matter?" I snapped instead of answering.
Roman didn't say anything. I couldn't tell whether he was angry or frustrated or thoughtful. Maybe a combination of the three.
I sighed. "He's a boy from school."
"Do you like him?"
"Yes," I lied.
He glared at me. "Stop with the fuckin lies."
I ground my teeth. "Stop treating me like a child."
This seemed to amuse him. "What are you, then?"
"I'm a grown woman dammit and it's about time you acknowledge that."
His jaw tightened and he glared at me. He didn't say anything.
I sighed in defeat. "I have a date to get to," I mumbled, and blinked twice at the tears.
"Walk through that door and don't come back to my house again," Roman shouted at me. His eyes determined.
I hesitated with my hand in the deadbolt. I couldn't leave him all alone. After everything? Not to mention the physical pain it would cause me to be away from him. But at the same time, I'd promised Thomas I'd go out with him tonight.
"Seriously, Nuru, is this your way of seeking attention?" He pushed the strand over his left eye to the side.
I sucked in air as I tried to comprehend his words. I kept repeating them in my head. They made no sense. "What did I do?"
"You're going out with Thomson, a boy you don't even like."
"I'll like him some day." I frowned. "It's not like I have a better offer."
"I won't allow it to get to that."
"I wasn't asking for permission."
"You're still not going out with Thomson."
I glared at him, jaw tight. "Thomas."
He merely rolled his eyes, his face in a permanent mask of defence.
"You have no right to act like a jealous teen," I said each word slowly, in a desperate attempt to control my rage.
"So you admit there's something to be jealous of?"
"I think the right questions is; are you admitting to being jealous of me."
"You going out with hormonal werewolf crazied teenagers in the middle of the night. It's not going to happen. In fact if you're hungry or you want to watch a movie, I'm taking you. No boy will take advantage of you. It's night." He pressed his lips together, thoughtful. "What do you think that's reflecting on my parenting skills?"
"Roman you're not my father and I—"
"No, Nuru, no." His voice was cold. "If you want to rebel, do that once you leave my house."
"I'm sorry, then." My voice was just as cold as I opened the door and walked down the narrow hallway to the kitchen.
He was following.
I allowed myself one last look at him and with a heavy heart pulled the door open.
Surprise flitted across his face. "I don't suppose you're going to meet Thomson naked, are you?"
I stopped for a moment and turned, unwilling, to look at him. My face was wary when I turned it to him. I even considered just walking out of there in all my naked glory.
It looked like he was fighting against a smile now.
I clenched my teeth and closed my eyes. I exhaled very slowly. And closed the door behind me.
"I'm very sorry," he told me and for a second his face was vulnerable, as though he was scared. "The truth is... I don't want you to leave."
I could tell by his tone of voice that he meant it. He gripped my elbow. And I opened my eyes. He was looking at me.
"Stay... please." He spoke very quietly.
I stared in his eyes. He didn't look away. "Why?"
"It's nice having you around."
I rolled my eyes. I walked back to his bedroom. He followed.
I took my phone and called Thomas. He answered in the first ring.
"Nuru?" His voice sounded relieved as though he thought I wouldn't call back.
"I just called to let you know—"
And Roman was ripping the phone away from me. My jaw dropped and I contemplated violence. He glared at me, daring me with his eyes.
