I love you
Finally the girls left.
Roman helped me into my pajamas and pulled the covers over me. My heart caught in my throat, and my stomach tightened.
"Tomorrow it's my mother's birthday," I said.
He nodded. "I already had a cake made for her. We'll go there first thing in the morning."
I sighed. "Her trail is in two weeks."
"Don't worry," he said, looking at me with promising eyes. "Trust me... your mother will get maybe fifteen years or less, plus she's going to plead guilty and be charged with second degree murder."
I cringed at the word 'murder.'
"... And with good behaviour, she'll probably be in there five years tops, Maxwell" — Roman's lawyer —"Is very good. If anyone can fight this battle for your mom, it's Max."
I considered that for a second and realized it was a good deal for Jennie.
He lifted my dead legs and pulled them on top of his lap. He ran his hands down my legs just like he did every night but something was different tonight. Instead of seeing his hand move, I felt the familiar, rough, warmth and I let out a shaky sigh.
He frowned at me, concerned.
"Do that again," I said, excited but uncertain.
His frown deepened but continued to stroke me without question.
There was nothing. No feeling.
I sighed, disappointed. "False alarm, I thought I felt something."
"Don't worry, it'll come back... eventually."
He trailed his fingers lightly from the tips of my toes to my inner thigh, he was dangerously close to my sex.
And then my leg spasmed, wildly, for a short second as though he'd electrocuted me.
Roman froze. "Did you see that?" He asked in disbelief, eyes wide with excitement.
I frowned, hesitating. "The uncontrollable electrocution on my leg or the one you purposely unleashed on my pussy?"
He was staring at me with such disbelief, he looked like his head might explode from surprise.
"Hey!" He snouted.
"What?
"Who are you?" He asked, an edge of hysteria in his voice. "... and what have you done with my Sugary Rose?"
I tried to laugh, but I was breathless. "Having been in the house with you and Anton, that's all I ever hear."
"Hmm..." he was still staring at me, his eyes thoughtful. "Let me test this electrocution theory. It's intriguing."
"I love you..." I took hold of his still frozen hand and leaned towards him. "I cannot live without you."
He effortlessly lay me on the bed and climbed on top of me. His hand reached up to brush my hair from my cheek.
"What do you say?" He asked. "I have all night to see if my touch really is that healing for you. Should I start now?"
"Yes."
He freed his hands slowly, and put his hands on either side of my face as he stared into my eyes.
"I doubt there's ever a world were we could coexist and you'll ever find a man as in love as I am. I don't know..." he mumbled against my lips. He was getting closer to me with each word he spoke. His nearness messing with my head. "If you'll believe me, especially after I've disappointed you so much, but, I love you more."
"Hmm..." His lips were brushing against mine at this point. "What exactly are you proposing Mr. Reeves?"
He growled once. "You're killing me, Nuru!" He gasped, his breath hinged. He pulled me roughly and smashed his lips to mine. "Forever," he staggered through the kiss.
"Stop talking," I scolded him, irritated.
He grumbled something I couldn't understand and then much louder whispered, "You're beautiful."
"Ugh!" I groaned. "Shut up and kiss me."
He chuckled. "I was planning to do so much more than that."
"What happened to your promise?"
He looked away from me, staring into the rain through our bedroom window. "If people on diet can cheat, why can't I?"
He caught me off guard. "Oh?"
He turned to look at me. "So... you see why I can't continue?"
"Did you lock the door?"
"Yes," Roman said quietly, puzzled.
"Then make love to me, Roman." I leaned forward so that I could press my lips to his once more...
