Chapter 18 - Dealing with the Duke of Sussex

Two days have passed by that the Thregonad people were totally in peace. No pirates, who always robbed them off with their food and other properties and so far, no wolves and Centaurs were running around to harm them.

But such peacefulness has been disturbed when they heard whirling sounds of helicopter rotors rounding around their Village’s air space dominion. That’s around six o’clock in the evening.

“What is that?” Shelyca asked Dareon as she walked outside of their big hovel.

Dareon followed her outside and look-up in the sky. There he saw three helicopters flying around. Dareon strengthened his sense of hearing so that he could hear voices inside the helicopter if ever there are.

From the helicopter, Dareon could clearly hear voices.

“Duke Simon, I could see people down the island. This island is the nearest one from where the Princess’ Helicopter has been found.” A male voice was almost shouting so that he can be heard.

Another loud voice clearly has spoken, “Then we need to land in that area and ask. We need to find the Lykan Princess.”

With those words, Dareon suddenly flipped his head; he clearly heard the word Lycan Princess; seems like the Duke of Sussex is here already.

“Wife, please get inside, we did not know who they are. They might be enemies.” Dareon said holding the hand of Shelyca who is still standing watching the helicopters’ activities above the sky.

Shelyca looked at Dareon and nodded. They entered their hovel again.

“Princess, please stay inside until I get back. I need to tell our Thregonad people to stay inside their houses too to be safe. I and our warriors here will be the ones who will face these invaders, should they land in our Village.” Dareon instructed his wife with full of protectiveness in his tone.

Shelyca smiled and nodded, “Yes, don’t worry, I will stay here. Go and tell them.”

“Good. I will be back in few minutes. “ Dareon muttered as he kissed Shelyca’s lips in a quick manner and then he went out of their hovel.

Shelyca watched the back of her husband as he exited the door of their home. Her heart is actually beating fast; something is telling her that the coming of these people in helicopters has something to do with her.

Inside the helicopters, the Duke of Sussex has been trying to check the small village below through his binocular. He saw few people standing outside of their houses. Then suddenly these people got inside their houses when a man motioned to them to get inside. Thereafter, few men lined up at the center of their ground.

“Find a wide area to land and be ready men.” Duke Simon spoke through the walkie-talkie radio in his hand, commanding the three pilots of the helicopters and the people inside of each of the aircraft.

After few moments, it can be seen that the three helicopters slowly landed in the wide-open area of the Thregonad Village, near the forest.

From the helicopters, four men each alighted therefrom.

When Dareon saw them, he motioned to his Thregonad Warriors to be ready. They waited to where they are standing until the group approached them.

“I am Simon the Duke of Sussex; may I speak to your leader?” Duke Simon’s voice was pleasant to listen to. His smile is alluring, making him more gorgeous and elegant-looking. Somehow Dareon felt a few strings of jealousy in his heart. “So this is the Duke of Sussex that the Lycan Princess was supposed to get married with.” He thought while looking at the man fiercely.

“I am the Chieftain of this village. What do you need from us?” Dareon replied with such firmness and authority overcoming the jealousy he has a while ago. He is now the husband of Shelyca and this Duke of Sussex cannot just take her away from him especially that he is not yet aware as to who was that culprit, intending to kill her.

Duke Simon faced Dareon when he heard him said that he is the Chieftain of this Village. He could sense that the man is not an ordinary man; although he seemed to be still young, he has that strong character that can be clearly seen in his features, stand, and aura. He emits power and authority, the very same thing that he wanted him to feel about him.

A smile started to form on Duke Simon’s lips. He needs to get the trust and sympathy of this Chieftain. “Chieftain I apologize if we landed inside your territory without your permission. We are actually looking for someone of royal blood whose aircraft had crashed unfortunately a few kilometers from here. We are still hoping that she might be alive and you have found her.”

Dareon’s heart tumbled but he kept himself calm. “Who are you talking about?” he asked with such a placid tone.

“We are looking for the First Princess of the Kingdom of Gold Valley. Her name is Princess Shelyca and she is my fiancée.” The Duke of Sussex replied with such sadness in his eyes, although his voice has been melodious and inviting.

The Thregonad Warriors suddenly looked at each other, which did not go unnoticed from those very keen eyes of the Duke of Sussex.

“Is she here Chieftain?” Duke Simon asked, eyeing intensely the young and seemed to be so brave Chieftain of the village.

Dareon looked at the Duke and confidently replied. “Yes, she is here. She is my wife.”

The Duke’s face grew red and his smiling expression suddenly turned to something like a wild beast.

With fiery eyes the Duke of Sussex asked, face astounded. “Your wife? She was missing just a few days ago and we were looking for her since the time that she did not arrive in our Kingdom. She could not be your wife. She is my fiancée.” He reiterated the fiancée word that made Dareon’s heartbeat in fury.

“She is my wife and has never been a fiancée of anyone. I know your story.” Dareon confidently and firmly said as he showed to him his ring finger. His ring suddenly flashed, showing off its grandeur into the eyes of the Duke of Sussex.

“Can I see her then to confirm that she is the Princess we are looking for?” Duke Simon requested, with the hope that Princess Shelyca, if indeed she is the woman this Chieftain is referring to, would come to him going back to his Kingdom in Sussex.

“No; her life has been in danger and I cannot risk letting her be in further danger. We have talked and agreed that we will travel going to her parents’ Kingdom, these coming days when everything has been readied.” Dareon retorted in a very firm manner that made the Duke of Sussex felt so offended.

With blazing eyes, the Duke said again. “She is my fiancée and I have the right to see her and check for myself if she is okay.”

“She is my wife and she is okay. Just tell her King and Queen Parents that you found already where their princess is and that she is safe and will be visiting them together with her husband, a few days from now.” Dareon’s firmness in his tone and stand never faltered.

“If that is your decision, then it is as if you are declaring war against the Kingdom of Sussex young man.” Intensely and seriously, the Duke retorted.

“If that is how you call it, then so be it. If I am a rude man, you cannot get out of my village now alive. But I am a man of honor and I won’t kill a defenseless man right at this moment.” Dareon with ferocity retorted to the young Duke of Sussex, who seemed to have been taken aback.

From their hovel’s window, Shelyca tried to peep to see who their visitors are and she was astonished to see the Duke of Sussex.
